LEICA Lenses on SONY A7C + Techart Pro LM-EA 9
Welcome back! In this video i go more in depth on my experience so far with the Sony A7C with Leica M lenses in my adventure to replicate, have an alternative, at a much lower cost and with greater flexibility in lens options compared to a Leica Q2. The Sony A7C provides a serious proposition to using Leica M lenses with AUTOFOCUS! Not at Sony GM level but definitely usable.
Enjoy! More on this coming soon!

I've just got an A7Cii and this has got me thinking. M Mount glass is excellent but not cheap either. Wondering what would be some fun but affordable options?

Thanks for watching! Depends on your taste and definitely would want to experiment with maybe voigtlander. Otherwise the alternative is adapt other vintage glass to m Mount to get better deals

I actually use the sony a7c, the adapter and the summilux 35mm f1.4 pre asph that you refer to. Its a great every day carry. However the voigtlander is very very different from it. Heavy distortion, horrible corners, render that is nervous not in a good way. I would recommend checking out the canon ltm lenses instead. They are tiny rangefinder lenses, adapt them to leica m, and get it on your adapter. Their rendition is significantly superior to the voigts. Example the canon 35mm f1.8 ltm

I’ll have to keep researching and see my options. These are my first m lenses so still exploring! It’s a whole new world.

@@MACROMARVIN Vintage rangefinder lenses because they focus on size, they make optical decisions that are less than perfect and hence, more characterful. Before the leica M mount, there was the LTM / M39 / Leica Thread Mount. Of which both leica and canon made lenses for. Adapting it to leica M is super easy with a cheap adapter. Canon lenses are very cheap with very interesting character. The canon 35mm f1.8 was my fav lens for years before i decided to get the 35mm summilux pre asph. I still have it btw, happy to sell it off to you.

How’s the video with this set up ? Like the idea of having a video camera with Leica lens. As I have a load so perfect for primes.

Thank you for the great video! I have a question: Do you ever have issues with image quality when using Leica M lenses on a Sony? I am thinking about getting an adapter for my a7ii.

Thanks for watching, I haven’t seen any issues work just like any other manual focus lens. Keep in mind that with a7 II you’ll only be able to do manual focus, the autofocus adapters will work best with the version three and newer cameras

Definitely! There are so many options and many at accessible prices. This was just me wanting to experiment with what I found to be more affordable on the Leica side.
