    I bought their adapter back in 2016 to use with an A7II and my m lenses. I liked it, but it was glitchy. I do know they improved it by several firmware updates. This video motivates me to dig it out of a box and start using it again.

    I just got my Sony A7R V and have tested it with my older LM-EA7 adapter updated with the last released firmware in 2020 for the Sony A7R IV support. So far it works fine alongside my Leica M 35mm Summicron Asph. But I have still placed an order for the LM-EA9 to hopefully gain faster performance, as well as enjoy the smaller form factor. I hope it will be much faster as the LM-EA7 is quite slow. My use case: eyes getting older and it's nice to have reassurance my focus is spot on, and love my M glass.

    Ok me and these type of adapters have a history. Tried the Megadap for the Nikon z system. Love/hate type thing until it stopped working precisely 7 days after the warranty expired. Man, did that p&$s me off! Went with the megadap as it seemed to have a more robust build. After futzing with it off and on for a few months I found it’s sweet spot for me and I loved it until it crapped out on me. I do a lot of architectural/urban landscapes with some great manual focus glass. Hugh you mentioned using it for manual focus confirmation…. and YES, when I settled on that particular use it was perfect for me ! Increased my hit rate a bunch ! Didn’t have to keep looking at each shot in the view finder to confirm I was in focus . My eyes are old and wow it was worth it. But yea it crapped out on me. I think like any new tech it will take a second or third generation before it reaches its intended potential. This new version of the tech art has my attention after swearing off repurchasing or investing a second time. From what I saw and heard in your video it’s about as quick and accurate but with less of the buzzing sound. I’m probably going to try again. Love my old glass and by the way you can “double adapt” to the Leica adapter. I used Contax to m and Nikon to m adapters and few other combinations allowing me to use more than just Leica mount. So yea I’m probably going to try this one on my Sony. So glad you shared your experience with it ! Thank you Hugh !

    C'mon over to Nikon y'all. I LOVE my LM-EA9/A7IV combo, but... my Z8 is tons more fun and the image quality is a cut above, but the kicker is is that the TZM-02 AF adapter works in video mode. Very useful. E mount lenses adapt to the Z mount so this is a win-win.

    I bought two of the previous versions, only to return both. I love larger, older, 1.4 aperture primes and the previous model just couldn’t handle the weight. You stated that the motors were smaller, but the addition of 3 more has me hopeful in being able to move heavier primes. Have you tested any? I would be using a Sony A7iv. Thank you for the first look and I’m eagerly waiting the release of this product! Any estimates on when you think it might hit the states???

    The manufacturer claims that the product has been significantly improved after long-term research. The price includes customs duty and import tax of 500 + Eur. Why does the manufacturer not offer the usual and mandatory 2-year warranty in the EU, but only a 1-year warranty?

    Hello :) One thing that is not clear in my mind ... Is it using for example a "Leica Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH. " on a body "Sony Alpha 7 IV " I will keep the angle of 35 mm ? Or will there be a reduction of the angle of view...

    • @3BMEP

      Same angle of view, as all M lenses are designed for 35mm (which is the same as full frame digital)

    Hi Hugh!
    Nice to see you again. I understand, that the adapter moves the lens forward and backward. So this will work in principle, but in the end it may be slow, not always accurate and given the heavy work which is to be done, the lifetime of the adapter may be limited. I also wonder whether it will be vulnerable to damage in daily use or if you touch it too hard. So in conclusion, i would not buy one. I have to confess, that i am not in the M-Business, all my Leica Glass and Cameras went to the hands of my son. :-)

  • @Ni5ei
    @Ni5ei 9 месяцев назад

    Why is nearly every reviewer using a title that makes it sound like this adapter can only adapt M lenses?
    The only reason they used the M mount is because of its short flange distance so you can stack a 2nd adapter on top of it to adapt to practically ANY mount you want. Most people buying this adapter don't own a single M mount lens.

    I have M glass and a 7C. This adapter sounds great as I could use my 7C as a backup for my M9 or a low light body but….. I bought the TZE-01 to adapt my Sony glass to my Z. This adapter worked ok and I could happily use my Zeiss 35mm on the Z. Eventually, though, the adapter bricked during a firmware upgrade. Zero response from Techart despite numerous attempts. Caveat emptor.

    Leica M are great but unfortunately, even the M11 was outdated when in the shops. If you want to be able to enjoy 60 MPS you need IBIS in a lot of cases, and zone focusing is never as good as autofocus in low light or with wide apertures. External EVF are a kind of solution to the viewfinder technology with wide apertures. One of the best solution is to use M lenses on a SL2 and wait for a M12 with the functions that you can get on a Fuji XPro... Leica M lenses are not at their best on a Sony sensor, leica M and SL sensor have a special curve/software to be able to use the Leica M lenses. Is this adaptator with Leica M lenses really better then the best native lenses you can get for the Sony, not so sure ...

      @@johnrikardnilsen7840 in good light of course there are no problem, you can increase the speed. But in low light when you have no IBIS either you have to open the lens or to push the ISO and it may be something you don't want o do for quality or creative purposes ...

      @@philippebernard8987 coming from the m10, to the m10r and then the m11 I’ve only felt that the lowlight experience has been better.
