To be absolutely honest. Most Europeans also can't name States in US or Africa. BUT! Most Europeans can name at least major countries on each continent. Many Americans can't even show Australia on the map. So that much is true.

In high school our teacher made us memorize all the places and names for the American states during American history class and the same for Europe during European history class so we just played this game occasionally and everyone passed. Learning geography like this is so unimportant.
I went to a smaller elementary school and most of the teachers that thought me geography just didn't care, especially the last one, he thought us for 5 years and we were allways on the computer on our ebooks that he never checked, recycled tests so we just memorized them from previous years. It was fun but i sruggled a lot bc i don't have the basics down and i had to relearn everything from scratch on my own in secondary school😭 wasn't completely sure for most of the video where what is and I'm european

I don't blame them for some of those. There's a lot of small countries packed up and not even I, an European, could memorize 5 of them. I also mistake certain countries like Switzerland, Finland, Norway, etc, but I know their flags and their general location.
