As an American who knows geography fairly well, this was extremely painful to watch... I'm gonna watch the other one too though even though it's funny and frustrating-
So lesson time. Arkansas is the name the Quapaw tribe gave to the French explorers who settlers in the state. The French named the territory after this word because of that connection. Since the Quapaw didn’t have a formal writing system it had to be spelled using French spelling standards in a time where there weren’t many spelling standards. All that to say calling it “stupid” is kind of disrespectful to its history as well as to the indigenous people who lived there.
I did not know that, thank you for the information! Just to be clear, it was not my intention to be disrespectful to the history. And thank you for the tip!
You should try getting all South American countries. This could work either way though. You get a South American to quiz y’all and you team up with the Americans, you do it solo, or only make the Americans try & guess them.

Tbf Europeans on average will know south america, africa and even asia better simply because like he said "half of them are just squares" how are you supposed to them apart. The only way to do that is purely by location. For most countries you can just remember the shape.
@@alimbis The rough location yes but if I were to make a continent out of grids you'd be better of naming them A1, A2, A3 And B1, B2 etc. That's my point in geography you have 3 things to go off, name, shape, location. If you remove one of those obviously it gets harder. Case and point, if I only gave people the shape of every state, without locations that's harder than the same for Europe. because some of the shapes are less distinct.
@@noahwattel4226 but the US clearly isn't a grid, even in the western half where you are probably talking about, it isn't even arranged like a grid, and only 2 of the 50 states have a shape that is unrecognizable from something else (wyoming, colorado).
@@alimbis The grid was a hypothetical example. I wasn't saying the US was a grid. I'm saying that because a lot of states are just more square and less distinct it's harder to tell them apart. I'm really not trying to explain rocket science here. Human brains are just "dumb" even if the shape are different it helps if they have more abstract shapes that we can identify as something. For a computer it probably wouldn't make much difference but for humans it does.
7:21 Fun fact! Certain states have specially "road rage names" for when you yell at someone with a license plate from that state (IE Massachusetts is Masshole). As someone born and raised in Connecticut (pronounced ku-net-eh-kit), I can atest that "Connecticunt" is our road rage name.

as somebody from vermont this videp was wild bro 😭🙏

7:29 "Keep trying" bros a demon 💀
I feel like they gave too many hints
13:08 as a Kansan i was giggling so hard bro 😭
You should try getting all South American countries. This could work either way though. You get a South American to quiz y’all and you team up with the Americans, you do it solo, or only make the Americans try & guess them.
Though you probably don’t wanna be a geography channel 😭
the equivalent would be naming every state of brazil or all provinces of argentina
As a person from Utah, I’m happy my state was noticed :D
(I love the mountains in Utah, because I see them everywhere I look 😂)
Honestly, I was really surprised that you knew where Vermont was first try. A lot of people don’t know we exist

Ok, so I did this, and I got only 39%! My mom got 43%, and my dad got 66%, but would’ve gotten more, but the smaller states are very hard to click on lol

18:11 don’t worry, the only thing going on is gang violence in the middle, fishing, dollar generals, Walmart, and hunting. “The natural state” 😂
Nearly broke my phone in the cringe of answers.
Nearly shoot myself for the european countrys
Tbf Europeans on average will know south america, africa and even asia better simply because like he said "half of them are just squares" how are you supposed to them apart. The only way to do that is purely by location. For most countries you can just remember the shape.
knowing the location is the entire point
@@alimbis The rough location yes but if I were to make a continent out of grids you'd be better of naming them A1, A2, A3
And B1, B2 etc.
That's my point in geography you have 3 things to go off, name, shape, location. If you remove one of those obviously it gets harder.
Case and point,
if I only gave people the shape of every state, without locations that's harder than the same for Europe.
because some of the shapes are less distinct.
@@noahwattel4226 fair enough, i understand your perspective

7:21 Fun fact! Certain states have specially "road rage names" for when you yell at someone with a license plate from that state (IE Massachusetts is Masshole). As someone born and raised in Connecticut (pronounced ku-net-eh-kit), I can atest that "Connecticunt" is our road rage name.
