I almost cried watching this video - Kondo's influence on game music is absolutely gargantuan, and his music has played such a huge part in not just my life, but those of many others as well. That's the power of game music
it's such a foundational element that I can't decide if it's the only thing that was able to cater to my bias for melodies or if it's what caused my bias for melodies in music - but how early Kondo got in the game and still remain one of the greatest is mindblowing.

The man, the myth, the legend. Such a remarkable composer. I feel like he was put on this earth to compose game music, and he fully realized his potential.
I studied music theory and most of the classmates were classical or jazz purists. Even they knew who Koji Kondo is. Just shows his musical impact in the music world.

Koji Kondo is a genius. The original Zelda and Super Mario themes are perfect. Two of the reasons why my childhood was a great joy was because of Koji Kondo and Shigeru
This man is the single biggest influence for me becoming a composer (and the reason I've made so many Zelda arrangements). Thanks for doing this video. I feel like everybody should know how great he is.
I will never not cry at these videos. I don't care if that makes me a weeny. These are people who've impacted my life in such a weird yet beautiful way and the teams at DYKG honors them perfectly. 20 years no one would have given much thought to these people, but their works have changed millions of lives. That's amazing. Koji Kondo is a legend.

Koji Kondo is truly a blessing to the human race. For me he's every bit as important as Miyamoto. Every day I hum his melodies and they truly enhance Miyamoto's games 100%
He's had such a good grasp on atmosphere in music for years. There's so many themes in games of Majoras Mask that are such an integral part of the gameplay, and wouldn't be the same without his work.
I can't even fathom the influence this man's music has had on people. Everyone on the planet knows and loves Mario's music. Every musician or group, big or indie will do a cover/remix of it at some point. Me and a bunch of my friends learned how to play it in school on a recorder.
Same, people like them and nobuo uematsu really got me into music. Makes me wonder who from modern gaming the next generation will learn from, lots of great musicians.
I love video game music too. When I listen to video game music I feel connected to it. Having an epic adventure in TLOZ, jumping and shooting in Mega Man, killing monsters and demons in Bloodstained AKA not Castlevania, racing in F-Zero, destroying the covenant in halo... but if I listen to music from popular artists/band I just don't like it that much I can't feel the connection with that kind of music. There are just a few that I really like.
After this video, I've gotta say I have massive respect for Kondo. He foresaw how music would develop in games and was ready for that challenge, and he's done a damn good job with it.
I have so much respect for game sound producers. For example, playing games with huge lead up scenes to a gorgeous view and stuff. It happens and then theres a musical cue with dramatic heavy tones that give you shivers. Stuff like that makes all the difference.
