Here’s another Aruba tip. If you plan to go to Natural Pool, wear some kind of foot coverings. It’s made up of jagged, slippery rocks and can result in some unintended injuries.
Thank you so much Hyro! We are heading to Aruba for the first time this Thursday! Between doing my own research and watching several informative Aruba videos, I am excited & ready! I cannot wait to try Zeerover as well! Be safe!
Thank you so much for this informative video! I plan to travel to Aruba next month & it's a great thing to have some insight as a new traveler. Thank you for looking out! God bless!
I love all of your videos Hyro. My husband and I began visiting Aruba in 1981. I have missed two years but I stay for 5 weeks. I am always sorry to leave. Good Luck!!
Several years back an elderly man who we traveled with on the plane drowned in the surf(4 to 5 Ft waves) from a storm out to sea. The incident happened in front of the Divi Divi and he was 30+ yr visitor, so anybody that's been tossed and got a little sand in the swim suit will tell you, it can happen anywhere on the beaches. Also be aware that getting a loved one back home that has died can be a daunting experience,if you don't have good insurance at least carry your funeral directors contact with you. Our Home Away FROM HOME is very safe and full of friendly people, enjoy, you'll be back.
So sorry to hear this, yes it can happen anywhere. I will definitely be talking about these south side areas at some point (in another video). As you mentioned it can be a daunting experience I wish no one will ever have to go thru again. Thanks for your input!
Great video! My wife and I will be visiting Aruba and are looking forward to seeing this beautiful island. We'll be doing some snorkeling and, having done quite a bit of that in the Bahamas, we'll be careful (I hope) not to brush up against any sea urchins. I've done that a couple times and can speak from personal experience that their very sharp spines can penetrate the skin like a warm knife going through butter, then they break off and are very difficult, and painful, to extract. If you're snorkeling over any reef areas, or even anything other than sand, watch out for those little fellas.
Thanks for this information. One hidden danger I didn't see mentioned is Baby Beach. Yes, the waters are very calm but if swimming too far out I have read there can be dangerous currents.
In NYS we have both traffic circles and roundabouts with more being built all the time. They ultimately make driving safer and easier, but for non locals they can be confusing while trying to figure out where you should be exiting.

Thumbs Up for Hyro! Definetly as a Taxi Driver that is indeed most of the things that I hear in mothly basis that visitors encounter during there stay! Super Good advise. Even with Sun Block you still need to combine shade with Sun. Being whole day in Sun is poison fever in your skin. Refreshing after burning with a towel Ice cold water helps a lot with that pentrating fever in the skin. By the watersports incidents and UTV tours we Arubians become very Sad when we hear the Sad stories. We really care and ask people please be Carefull. Hyro Love your Videos.🙏👍❤️
Thanks Jovita, yes I can really relate to feeling sad when things go wrong. The thing we most want is that you have the vacation of your life but also remain safe and sound🙏🏻
Depends on the season and area. Try to avoid being outside 6-7am and 6-7pm that's when they are most active. In general I do not have a big problem with it.
Thank you for a very informative, common sense and practical video - I have been fortunate to have traveled to many places with my husband, kids and friends over most of my life ...but I have never planned or taken a trip on my own. This year, I decided that it was time for me to find a place to escape the winter in Canada, for at least 1 month, with or without company. I have never been to Aruba, and was focusing on the places, I absolutely loved , but it was my mom, who suggested that Aruba was the place to go. After doing some research, talking with a few people, I realized my mom was probably right. My trip is booked, I am excited to be creating my own adventure and your information confirmed - I will have an amazing time. Appreciate the information
Thank you too Leona! Happy to hear about your upcoming trip. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time and who knows, we might even bump into each other :-) Say hello to mom!
Very informative video, thank you! The topic of sunburn is really an important one!.. The sun is so bright on Aruba. I especially pay attention to my children, every two hours I put them in the sunscreen and they look like little white ghosts .. with a cap on!🤭 With the roundabouts on Aruba, I also have some crazy experiences.. but that is more due to my own driving skills 😜 Happy weekend to you 💕
Hello Janis, thank you for this question. It all depends on the conditions of the day but at Palm Beach in front of the Marriott hotels, parts of Mangel Halto and Baby Beach. The Surfside beach can also be very calm. Never go swimming where you don't see anyone else swimming.
Hi Hyro, hope you and your lady Marlene are doing good. To your knowledge has there ever been anyone bitten by a shark, is there a specific time of year when they may be more prevalent? many thanks for time!
Hi John, not to my knowledge. There was a lady that was bitten by something a couple of years ago but they did not know what it was. For sure an isolated case in years but she was ok.
Want to spend a few months ( Jan maybe thru April 2022) in Aruba. My wife and I are seniors. We hear it's a beautiful island for atmosphere, beach life, restaurants and maybe a few bars for some early nite night fun with the locals. Any tips on where to stay? We really like to be near a good beach and for a decent price possibly a B&B type of housing arrangement. We reside in the Finger Lake region of NY, USA and are sick of the cold and damp weather. Sinceerly Tom and Janis
Hello Tom, sorry for the late reply here as I was traveling for the last few weeks. May I suggest visiting www.letsgowithhyro.com Contact me there so I can send you a link to them. Thanks :-)
I loved Aruba, been there once and planning to return. However, I got sun poisoning for the first time in my life while in Aruba. I was in bed for almost 2 days and I had red bumps everywhere. I live in the states, not far from a beach. I always love being the sun and I don't burn easily, but the sun in Aruba is no joke. I was also wearing 30spf sunscreen but it was not enough. Next time I go, I'm using 60+ UVA/UVB and will try to remain under the Palapa as much as possible also avoiding direct sun during the strongest hours.
It is okay to do these type of videos and I truly appreciate your willingness to provide this information. With the number of American murders in mexico currently, it has opened the eyes of many travelers. Thank you for providing the information. You rock!!!!
Thank you for this Hyro we are planning a trip in September and I’m trying to gather as much information as possible. Do we need to do a money exchange or are good with US currency?
Hello Rosa, you can bring US$ but preferably not $100 bills because they are not accepted everywhere. Debit cards and Credit cards are also widely accepted.
The other thing about the trade wind on Aruba (as pretty much anyone who's been there will notice) is that you WON''T NOTICE that you're burning in the Sun. We learned the hard way on our honeymoon 25 years ago, and (like dummies) forgot the hard way some years later on our next trip. I'll never forget the Missus picking (ok, cutting then cutting open) aloe leaves by Baby Beach after some locals' advice. In the decades since, we always buy the local Royal Aruba sunscreen. Great stuff. While I'm here, I'm reminded of that T-shirt I loved that I bought on our honeymoon with a drawing of a stork saying "Man, I love this island" or something like that. Sadly, my wife got rid of it after I "fatted out of it" forever ago. :)
I am staying at aruba as i type this at a beach, and I've been snorkeling and seen Barracudas, and i have pulled knive out of just in case they gone attack permanently i never seen one until i got into the water and it has left me alone for the most part. Im aware they like shiny things and blood, but i never been attacked ((not yet))
Thank you for making this video. I haven’t been to Aruba yet, but the jelly fish risk resonated with me the most. Growing up on the island of Barbados I was stung as a child. It was very painful. However we didn’t have any rattle snakes!
Do not let you fear keep you from experiencing the world. All of the advice here is good and good to know. Being careful of where you swim is probably most important. Pay attention to the turbulence in the water. It is probably obvious to most but if the water is turbulent, swimming is dangerous.
Very good video and I think it should be mandatory for all visitors to watch! My wife and I will be visiting June 2022 for the ninth time. We love Aruba. We will be joined by some friends and I would like them to experience the North side of Aruba. Do you think that a private guide would be the best way to see the North side and can you recommend one? Thanks for any help.
I'll be visiting in June 2022 as well. It's my first trip to Aruba and I'll be alone. Is it safe to walk around alone? Can I trust guides not to scam me?
Hyro I appreciate your caution but I think Aruba is one of the safest places I visited. but I agree about your caution about the two different coasts you mentioned. I love the roundabouts I cannot imagine the traffic nightmare you would have had if you had lights or 2 way stop signs. lol . I am leaving tomorrow . but may be another time!!
Hello Abhaya, yes the north coast while beautiful can also be a deadly place if you are not careful enough. We don't want anything to happen to our dear visitors. Safe trip back.
Maybe it us good to mention next time about Baby beach. Despite its name and the security of shallow waters, most drowning by tourist has had its occurance at this beach, simply because they go snorkling and want to see the outer reefs, which are beatiful, but the danger to the non-advanced snorkler are the rip-currents that will cause you to panic and could result in getting you injured or fatal. So always ask someone that knows the area for advice. That is the safest way to navigate in Aruba.
Thank you so much Arthur! Tip well received and I will keep it in mind for future video(s). It is indeed a deceiving area due to it’s name and calm inner waters.
Unfortunately I am off the island for a while so no video on this but: take enough water or something to drink with you as well as sunblock, a cap etc. Try to watch the parades at the beginning. I often see tourists watching the parades at the end which is not the best. By then it’s somewhat disorganised and there are more drunks around which sometimes leads to people who cannot behave. Also the best spots are taken early and many pay for them too. However if you explain that you are a tourist you will often be welcomed to join (for watching). Park your car in a safe place far from the route, this way you can leave early if needed. Park close and you may risk being blocked out.
Thank you for your video! I have just discovered your channel and have started binge watching~ it's very informative! My question is~ when is Aruba's black fly season? Thank you in advance for your response .
Thank you too, glad you find it informative. It’s usually not a big problem on the island due to our strong winds etc. The period would be from late Sep to early Dec but even so, they would be the worst from say sunrise or sunset (for an hour or so). In other words during the day or later in the evening you should have no issues. In general I do not hear much complaint of this but thanks for the question.
@@macscotty9997 The USA has more prisons than any country the USA has more serial killers than ever The USA is filled with racism and y'all think the USA is safer?
Everybody knows about the dangers of cacti, Hyro, but growing up on Aruba as my brothers and I did, we all came to know a kind of stinging nettle that grew wild across the island that we kids just called "7-day-itch." If your skin simply brushed against its hairy leaves, those little "hairs" were actually more like tiny needles that then embedded themselves in your skin. So, when you scratched yourself, you just took off the tops and the rest were embedded in your skin, causing a rash-like condition that could last for at least a week -- thus the name! And while you did mention the rattle snakes (even the little white ones were dangerous), when we lived there, there was also a venomous species of coral snake -- with brightly colored rings. You might see more of them on Trinidad or Tobago, but we had them too.
Thanks for adding to the topic. I'm wondering if you refer to the "Bringamosa"? Sounds very similar and we stop the itching with some fresh aloe nearby (works like magic). The Santanero also has come venom but not deadly. Don't think it has colors though, so might not be the same.
Great video Hyro.. Been coming to Aruba since 1992..have been on the island about 30 times..always something new to discover. When I was there in April whats up with no trespassing sign at hidden beach!!! See you in October!!!
Very nice information and video. Haven't been to Aruba yet, but on Curacao. The landscape with the rocky beaches look quite similiar, and also the vegetation.
Deberían poner más medidas policiales y en las señales bajar el nivel de las señales por cer una isla muy concurrida por el turismo además las medidas policiales se deben incrementar sobre todo en las playas y centros turísticos
My Pleasure! I don't have the exact figures but in general Aruba is very safe. Just use common sense and you should be ok. Sharks have been filmed at the shore near the Tamarijn recently, but small ones. While some people panicked, it was nothing serious and I've never heard of a local shark attack (btw they are extremely rare near the shore or at the beaches). As for other creatures we do have the Green Moray Eel which lives mostly where it's rocky. So try to never swim too close to the rocky shores, for example at Tres Trapi beach. They will usually not attack you unless they feel threatened. They are rarely seen because they love to hide and basically non existent at the sandy beaches like Palm & Eagle beach.
I was stung by a jellyfish about ten years ago while floating out in the water in front of our timeshare near the Pelican Pier. It was not long after a big storm. For the naysayers let me tell you it hurt like hell and left whiplike marks on my leg.
Wow, sorry to hear this Karen. Yes I've heard about the pain being very very bad. Storms do tend to bring change to our waters every so often so it does make sense (unfortunately).
Here’s another Aruba tip. If you plan to go to Natural Pool, wear some kind of foot coverings. It’s made up of jagged, slippery rocks and can result in some unintended injuries.
Thanks for this GREAT TIP Kendrick!!
Wear shoes also don't bring rich or expensive rings cause once you jump in the natuural poel you lost maybe depends
My ankles became so strong after visiting Aruba!
There's no soft grass or dirt anywhere!!
I was at the Natural Pool but did not go in I kept a few feet away while the 2 people I was with enjoyed themselves in it

Thanks Hydo, we are moving to Aruba soon and it makes me smile to think the dangers in Aruba are things that we can live with.
Cool to hear that. Yes, they really are! As some have said, just using common sense here and you will get really far.
Check out the Natalie Holloway story!
@@macscotty9997 yeah but those type of stuff barely happends here

Thanks for the advice
You bet!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Round abouts we have them here in Cali that’s good intel! I’ve driven them on MC as whelk as car.
Yes, for some they are very confusing at first and there have been fatal accidents in the past.
I can totally confirm the roundabout issue 😂
Warning: they may make you feel drunk without drinking LOL!
Same
Does Aruba has any rivers or waterfalls
No we don’t☺️
Thank you. Insect bites can be a real threat too and should he addressed. Major issue as a result of tropical storms.
They can be depending on the time of year.
What time of year Are the mosquitoes bad?
I've been to Aruba years ago and loved it! 💕🤗
Maybe time for a return😊
Great video Hyro.. Been coming to Aruba since 1992..have been on the island about 30 times..always something new to discover. When I was there in April whats up with no trespassing sign at hidden beach!!! See you in October!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Wow 30 times, that's a lot for sure! I believe that sign has always been there but the beach is public.
Great video. I love Aruba. Can you tell me which beach is featured at 3:40 into the video?
Thanks Sara! That one is the Eagle Beach.
Thank u for being honest on this video.
Always ;-)
Informative!!🏆💯
Glad you think so!
I think a good thing to note, not necessarily a danger, taxis only take cash..they don't have card machines...well atleast that was my experience
Thanks for the great tip :-) J Charnele!
Good, thank you
Welcome 👍
thanks for sharing these information
You bet, my pleasure :-)
Mention the snorkeling or swiming at a spesific part of baby beach!! No going behind the rocks!!
Thanks for the Tip Celia. Some others have pointed this out to me as well. I will try to include it in a future vlog.
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Thank you, Hyro. Any shark attack accidents in Aruba? Just curious to know. Thanks.
I've seen videos recently of some small sharks at the beach near the Tamarijn Resort. No attacks though and none that I can ever remember.
Nah, im a local here and there arent any shark attacks, there may be some far off the coast, but i believe the only sharks here are docile reef sharks
Very nice information and video. Haven't been to Aruba yet, but on Curacao. The landscape with the rocky beaches look quite similiar, and also the vegetation.
Yes, you are right they are!
we are going to Aruba and looking for a local to bring me fishing?
Hello Margaret-Ann, what kind of fishing, deep sea? I hope to have a vlog about this in the coming weeks, be pending.
Thank you for the information. What about the crime rate there? How is it? Do you guys have dangerous sea creatures around there? Sharks?
@@LetsgowithHyro huh, never saw a morray eel round here, then again the beach i go to is mostly the westin beach
The Roundabouts in aruba takes gettin used to.
I can fully understand! Thanks for watching Brian!
@@LetsgowithHyro I can’t wait to return to Aruba. I had a great time. I also saw your videos playing at La Cabana .

Hope to welcome you again😊💫🙌🏼
I miss living there. We were there for 7 years.
Hope we may welcome you again very soon. The island keeps changing so much.
Going beyond the buoys at Baby Beach is also very dangerous. People have died there.
Good point, buoys should be respected everywhere but especially at➡️ Baby Beach⬅️
The V mark on the rental cars stands for vulnerable 😂
Ok.
Try not to get scraped by coral because you can get a nasty infection.
True, thanks for the tip👍🏼
Nice one bud!!
Thanks bro, Cheers!
Those roundabouts are terrifying. Do NOT buy sunscreen in Aruba, its very expensive, just bring some.
They are☺️
very nice video good information.
Many many thanks
i have been there many times with no issues but that was over 20years ago
Hi Richard, thanks for watching, time for a return?🏝
@@LetsgowithHyro still have goats and divi divi trees ha ha
Snakes? How on Earth did they get there? I got enough rattlesnakes where I live - Eastern Diamondback.
The Boa's must have just been let loose, they are not native to the island. The other 2 types I do not know but they are in the meantime endemic.
Also, don’t leave your drink unattended. Don’t leave your food unattended.
👍🏼☺️
I traveled to Aruba back in the mid 80's and am surprises how much bigger the tourism has grown. I loved it there and would love to return one day.
Hello Debbie, nice to hear from you. Mid 80's to present day has seen a lot of changes. The beaches are still as good as ever.
If you go.... once you get there...YOU WON’T WANT TO GO! Me and my wife had a damn blast 💥 August 2021 7nights
Most say that is a danger too (not wanting to leave) haha
Nice video, thank you. Did not know about rattlesnakes.
Glad to help :-)
What about the wild dogs?
Good point, I do agree we need to do a lot more in that regard!
I live there so yeah
