- This is a heart felt video featuring my wife Weifang. She tells a bit of her history growing up poor in Nanning China. We visit her old home street to show you the viewer where she lived when she was a child and up until she met me Gweilo 60. This is as honest of a video you will ever find on social media about a Chinese girls aspirations and struggles for a better life outside China. The catch is she ended up back in China after spending 11 years abroad. Enjoy.

Walking down memory lane can be quite an emotional and powerful experience. You both worked hard all your life to get to where you guys are today, financially free. That's what everyone wants.
It doesn't matter where you came from , it's how you move on with your life .
My friend " just AWESOME " also came from a very poor background and today he is a very successful restaurant owner .
What kind of awesome food does he serve in his restaurant?
@@RyuJinafan
H K style seafood and BBQ .
where is his restaurant located?
What an intelligent lady, good storyteller and funny too. You guys have a great life together.
Weifang has a wonderful personality, I would like to hear more about her history. You two make a great couple. Weifang, Kirk, keep up the great work and keep entertaining us.
Talking in front of a camera is hard. Kudos to Weifang ! I can see that going to the place she grew up in brought deep emotions. Good too see she broke out of poverty, like hundreds of millions of Chinese, what a relief !
Congratulations for marrying a woman who is down to earth and practical. Regards
Well done, WeiFang & Gweilo 60! What a wonderful video. Remember, behind every successful man is a good woman.
Well said indeed!
You couldn't find a woman like that in the US never ever ..... Good for you 👍👍👍 humble awesome personality ....
I am very sorry for your loss, gweilo! I hope you get over the tough time without her. She is watching over you, please try your best to be happy, because that is what she wants to see in you.
Kirk, I can't get enough of your videos. You and Weifang have interesting stories to tell. It would be wonderful to have Weifang doing some of the videos. By the way this is my first ever comment on RUclips. Just so I can show my support for Weifang and you.
Thanks for tge comment and Weifang will be in more videos
She is really cool.. don’t break her heart gweilo .There’s a reason your paths crossed
As my parents also came from a poor ( poverty ) in China 🇨🇳, l fully understand your plight. U may be quite well off now, but u have to be also frugal n meticulous with your money: that’s our Chinese tradition.Wishing u a happy 😃 n healthy life.
Weifang will bring a new angle for your channel especially from a chinese local living in China point of view. More comparisons of when she was young through out the years and up to now of how China has changed would be very insightful and hopefully enlighten those non believers. More Wei Fang please :)
Weifang is a really nice lady. I really enjoyed her stories and would love to hear more of them. Please do more video's
Just so proud of WEi FAng. The cultural DNA doesn't change. Grateful for what we have, cherish what we have , respect what we have, work to reach for the stars.
Thank you Wei Fang for being so brave to share your story. You are a success for achieving your independant of money worries. Enjoy your life with Gweilo60 and live happily everafter together. Jia you to you both.
WeiFang won a Canadian guy's heart by being genuine and having good personality. God bless you two.
Very touching, very moving! Great video! This was the first time l met Weifang! More videos, if you please!!!!!
Excellent video! Thanks WeiFang for sharing your thoughts. A sincere, likeable and genuine person.
Thank you so much Weifang for sharing some of your life with us. From Humble background you have found your strengths and inner peace. Respect to you and your family. Kirk knows how lucky he really is(look at his face when he looks and speaks to you or even when he just talks about you) ,you are his priceless treasure. I look forward to see your next video and experience more of what you would like to share.
Hi Weifang. Yes I have an understanding of your story, sounds very familiar, as I married a Chinese woman when I lived in China, nearly 14 years ago, falling in Love with Nanning. We have been back to China a number of times since, and perhaps next time we might stay in China.
I want to return to Nanning ASAP, but there are no flights to China at present from New Zealand, and the risk of getting COVID-19 while on an aircraft is just to great at present. I am now in my early 70's but my wife is younger.
I have very fond memories of China.
My wife and I enjoy watching Gweilo and you on camera , keeping us up with what is happening in Nanning, so do keep up the great work you are doing, and we look forward to more videos...
I think Weifang did great on camera 👍.
I think that "rich" does not always have to be measured with money. You can be rich if you have a good life, if you have good friends and so on. Many "rich people" do not have a real life, real friends, real happiness, but they have a need for confirmation from other people, recognition. Really rich people are confident in themselves and do not need this confirmation, being rich in so much more than money and property ..
I admire Kirk and Weifang for what they have accomplished together, you both seem happy. Of course, you could have put up fake faces in front of the camera, but with so many videos Kirk has made, he wouldn't be able to hide a fake facade for that long.
Now we are just waiting for Weifangs own youtube channel 😉
Great video Gwelio, loved the personal videos recently . Enjoy your life in China and keep the videos coming
She's just like every single one of us chinese. We try to take good care of our personal finance. It's just the right thing to do.
I guess many folks have their own sob stories on climbing out of the poorhouse. I had mine when I escaped to the land of milk and honey with less than a few bucks in my entire possession. With determination and sweats and also setbacks, I can now lay back and reminiscent of the journeys I had been through. My best wishes to anyone who may have to endure tedious life journey and with strong will, I am pretty, sure, his/her life will get progressively better. I congratulate Gweilo & Weifang on achieving the comfort zone, where they can enjoy life peacefully.
Mayangone The Chinese government did well for the people of China , I am first generation born in British Malaya and made my home in Singapore since 1955 . Two years ago , my wife and I travelled to visit her relatives in a village near Guangzhou . I was amazed that previously they were staying in a ramshackle home 11 to a room in early 1960’s . Now , they are staying mostly in 2,3 storey and even 4 to 5 storey village houses . ( in a way better than me in Singapore with a 5 room apartment ). So the wealth in China has indeed percolated down to village level.

This video brought a smile and a tear to me at the same time. WeiFong was a gem and a joy. I did see it 3 year ago and it is good to see it again. It was funny about how she had tried so hard to move away from this place she came from and Gweilo brought her back to live in Nanning again. This was gold. Her sense of humour was gold. Keep it going, Kirk.
I clicked like even before watching this. Love you Weifong keep this Canadian in line 😁❤️

Weifang is a beautiful woman (..inside and outside). Thanks for sharing video.
God Bless weifong..We missed her! May the lord be with her forever.
Be strong Gweilo! Keep on going im.sure your wife is smiling at you now.
Life is really unfair sometimes, rest in peace you wonderful woman
Hell Yeah! Go For It Weifang. You are awesome. Love and Support from India.
You’re a lucky man Kirk. Weifang is so humble and down to earth.
3:46 Weifang is so real, and i can feel the mosquitos down in the old street 😂. Yes, would like to see Weifang to talk more about her memory of childhood and be happy to see her speak in dialect (e.g. Cantoness) and talk to local people with subtitles.
She is a great woman who epitomes the proverb 'slow and steady wins the race'. All the more success to her in life.
TY for sharing, Weifang! Glad that you and Gweilo 60 have each other!
It's so nice to watch you two enjoying your lives.
It is precious & praiseworthy that the two of you are working in unison to promote the Goodwill of China & for that matter for the Goodwill of Humanity!

Nice video Kirk / Gweilo60 bro.
Really enjoyed watching this as your other videos
Well done Weifang for her 1st vlog.
Please do more 👍💯
Nice, man. Things have improved a lot in China. Clearly, the middle class in China has grown tremendously.
Thank you Weifang. I feel privileged to have been given a glimpse into your life. I hope you continue to make more videos. Very interesting. Very moving. You are a beautiful person.
What goes around .. come around .. like myself, tried so hard to get out ofHong Kong where I was born when I was young, after spent 18 years living in Vancouver Canada, by chance and by choice, I returned to Hong Kong and made a living here with work related to trading with China, now at 72, I decided to stay here for good, actually I will live at Zhongshen when I got a place to stay and with even lower cost of living relatively compare to Hong Kong, and also with lots of spaces and nice people around
Beautiful video, you two are wonderful, Weifang is absolutely lovely and did a great job sharing her background and views. Take care and be safe in your adventures.
Hello Weifang - very good effort for a first ever video, so well done to you. I think you grew up during a very fascinating period of Chinese history and it would be great to hear about how you saw it at the time and how things were changing at that time. It would be great to hear about your experience of school, your experience as a teenager and as a young woman setting out in life as the world was rapidly changing all around you. I hope you continue to tell your story. Thanks
Way to go Weifang! I came to the States as a teen and the stories you told, along with the old city streets, bring me nostalgia.
Nice to meet you Weifang. I look forward to hearing more from you. I am a South African Chinese of Cantonese and Hakka descent, and I can really identify with your practical down-to-earth approach to life. I wish you well with your channel. God Bless.
thank you
It's an interesting story from a local chinese view point. Things like the everyday life and normal things that you do or people there do in the past or present are always interesting to find out. Perhaps it would be good if Weifang can make videos of what china's past was through her life and eyes. And you gweilo60 can make about the new china scenes. I liked your adventures into the caves and waterfalls . The stuff like that we don't get anywhere else. Thnks for the videos.
hope your guys have a wonderful life together!
Looking forward to more videos 👍👍👍
Weifang, excellent video.Thank you for sharing.
You can't imagine what Chinese's life looks like 30 years ago, when I was young there's always shortage of food supplier, my family 3 members lived in a room only 10 square meters, this was just normally…
The same today in Hongkong.
@@cldnrth so, the same political system will never ever happened in mainland, as matter of fact the democracy used server to monopoly groups…
@@cldnrth and now where I live in a apartment more than 130 square meters, I believed no any other government can archived this progress…
I don't need to imagine it, I just need to go to the areas of China that the CCP doesn't show the rest of the world, i.e. most of the country.
@@dans.7651 leave CCP along, every countries hide something behind, how Kennedy get murdered? How Danna die? That more than dirty… so don't pretend the attitude capable to judge other countries, that's surely ridiculous!
Gweilo60 , stay humble , keep working hard for china , we do not let the western countries keep destabiliizing our country . The world has hope.with china as the leader in many ways and many things . There can not be a strong china when the system is bad , they usa always accused us of .
She's not boasting. ❤️ People who speak their minds
Having directed a few thousand corporate marketing videos - I can tell you - you did great.
I'd love to hear more about China from your perspective. My wife grew up somewhat privileged, so her perspective may be somewhat tainted. Keep up the amazing work, and way more Weifang!
WEIFANG , you presented your news very well, it was from the heart, would love to hear more.
You're are very lucky man Gweilo! Very happy for the two of you!👍
Really enjoy this video!! Thank you! Weifang and Gweilo.
Thank you to have video with your Chinese wife ! She looks like happy with you and you to Gweilo .
Very down to earth and humble lady, nice.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video .looking forward to more of her stories of her life's journey. Thanks.
It's great to see Weifang and hear her stories. Very interesting :)
Brilliant and very insightful!
You and Weifang look lovely together! Best wishes and hoping to see many more videos of her!
Good job Weifeng! Simple life is a blessing in deed.
Good job WeiFang. Enjoyed watching. I grew up in Weldon where Kirk grew up also. I also moved to another country ((Saudi Arabia) for 6 years and while there loved to explore Asia. I married my foreigner (American) and now live in US but we want to explore the country when we retire soon. Keep up the blog. I like hearing the history of others.
I enjoyed listening to Weifang talk about where she grew up. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her videos.
I'm so happy for you, Wei Fong, for breaking out of poverty in the past to having a good and comfortable life today. I suppose your husband, Gweilo-60 has a great part in this transformation - Three cheers to the Canadian; Hip-peep, Hurray!!! (X3). Just like Gewilo-60, I left my birthplace in Asia (possibly before you were born) first, to study in the UK and thereafter have remained till this day. I'm an "overseas Chinese" and I've never been to China. I got more and more immersed in Gweilo-60's RUclips videos because I find he's one of the few genuine ones in his love for China. The rest of the westerners out there are nothing more than hypocrites with their own agendas as are their leaders back here in the West as can be seen in their daily China-bashing rethorics.
With her education, she will not be poor definitely. The poor people in China are really ones with little education.
Well done Weifang, don't be nervous. We love both you and Kirk 😍. A wonderful couple!
Just too cool. Congratulations you guys and best wishes.
Well done Weifong keep going 👍👍👍
what a great woman help the poor children
Yes, yes do more videos with your wife!!! Childhood stories, etc. I’m married to a woman from Nanning as well. We just married a year ago and mostly amazing. I’ve been married 3 times before to all American women. So happy that we met, we couldn’t be happier. Asian women really are the best all the way around.
thanks for your share. China today is completely changed. walking to a brilliant future
That was great. I very much enjoyed seeing this video and I am about to watch more of this channel.
Hi Gweilo, I’ve been following your channel n I’m impressed by your frankness n down to earth attitude. I’m sure your wife had a strong influence in the way you presented
yourself. Keep up your good work !
Weifang...you remind me so much of my old friend Amy that came to the US in 1977 knowing little English and she was basically dumped by her husband (an old school friend of mine) in Amarillo Texas of all places!! Talk about cultural differences...cause Texas is a different place from most of the US and certainly in our area...not a lot of foreigners. It must have been extremely difficult for her but she always had a smile on her face and seemed very happy to be in the US. I taught her how to cook Thanksgiving Turkey and dressing and BBQ and pinto beans and she taught me how to cook food I had never ever tried before. We became like sisters. It was a little strange at first due to cultural differences...she would come in morning with bags...planning to cook with me all day long...and would start cleaning my house...and I had a clean house cause I am a little OCD! I thought how strange...thought she was considering me not good housekeeper...but then I learned she was simply treating me as if I was her family. Nothing was ever clean enough for her...LOL! She was the sweetest person I ever knew. We had our first son's at same time...and when I had to go to a DR. I of course left my son with her. I came back to her breast feeding him rather than giving him a bottle cause she thought that was just proper. I felt a little inadequate since I had been very ill and couldn't breast feed...but she simply was doing what was natural. He certainly did not mind at all. LOL! Our sons slept together and played together for 2+ years...then she was deported because of her stupid ex husband getting into some trouble. Sad time in my life to lose my friend and little Jessie too. Wish I had been able to take Jessie in for she wanted for him to stay in the US rather than go back with her. But before we could get all the paperwork and stuff together...she was just gone...sent back while I had been in the hospital with my son. 1 night she was there with us at the hospital and next day...disappeared. We had no internet so all I could do was wait for her to write and tell me where she was...but that never happened.
What a lovely lady you have Gweilo l would love to hear her story.
Ppl comes ppl go, life is short & live your life to the fullest of happiness
It's not where you came from or having great wealth. It is your character and inner beauty and love from your husband and friends who love you and care about you. Just count your blessings, God is quietly behind the scenes to provide all the abundance we have. Thank you for sharing your testimony.
Great video, really enjoyed hearing Weifang's story. I think she is a natural for RUclips, I would like to see more of her explaining her motivations and also her perspective on life in China.
It's being smart and sensible about money....not being tempted or fooled into unnecessary spending even when some sales person calls you cheap. Save for rainy days.
Hello gweilo and hello waifong, well done for participating in making this interesting video. Love you both x
Loved the video and can't wait to see more from her about what it was like growing up.
Beautiful video Weifang! Keep going. Hugs from Midwest U.S.
