  • Living in China depends on permits, visas and the ability to make it work for you and your life. Today we applied for a 3 year Resident Permit so we don't have to leave our Chinese home. I walk through the process, cost and just our day of applying for our permit. Yes this means we are no going anywhere soon. Both Weifang and I agree this is by far the best place for us for at least the next 3 years. We love our lives here.

You can renew your passport in Canadian embassy or consulates in China. You don't have to go back Canada to renew your passport.

Gweilo, Just to let you know what you and your wife paid for the permit in China are the same amount Chinese citizens charged to get the same type of permit in Canada. Its between countries. Its expensive.

    这不是南宁市民中心么?护照,社保,房产,市民卡,水电煤气等等关于政府的所有业务都能办,蛮方便的。就是太偏僻了,还没开发到那,将来就热闹了。

I thought just go to Local District Security Department or ID license department to get it, your video shows its City's Security Bureau, including passport info, Thx Kirk!
Btw, you said its "Nanning Administration service center of Nanning Municipal Public Service Bureau", but on their board it seems "...Public Security Bureau", not so sure, because those English letters are too small.
Beautiful outdoor scene! Enjoy your life!^^

Congratulations, Kirk! We would miss not being able to follow you and Wéifāng there in China. I'm looking for you two to be called up to receive an honorary membership in the CPC, and that would undoubtedly come with permanent residency. Maybe in a few years more they'll come to realize how important you are for international public relations. Be sure to read up on the works of Máo Zédōng and Dèng Xiǎopíng, which you can find in English here tinyurl.com/uzsd4ur and here tinyurl.com/y2onersq
