The fact that he begs you to buy from an LGS BEFORE clicking his link says all you need to know about the professor class guy that lives the community
Loves*
@@jonwlew just found him and I believe I watched a years ago as the name is familiar, instantly earned my support :)
Absolutely, a clear and absolute dedication to MTG as a game and the community which loves it. That's why we trust Brian.
@@stuffandnonsense8528 his name is Brian? Wtf... I’ve been lied to. I thought his first name was Tolarian.
@@iridescence51 very close to Barrin, which in the lore was one of the founders of Tolarian Academy lol
to the companies that make these products, this video is the equivalent the Michelin guide book. like this is legitimately likely to boost some sales
I know when I first started playing I took what the professor said about certain products as a good choice, and I even come back to this video and his other videos when looking for specific things just like now.
I recently brought the Gamegenic Squire deckbox, and they had a big label across the front of the box saying that the professor recommends the product.
Haha I remember “local game stores” man those places sure were crazy
That was in the before times
@@ThePkmage in the long long ago
I remember "paper magic", that was good times
You remember them because they literally still exist
@@chrisgreenwood-beech9887 yeah modern day?????
I really love that the professor is always pushing going to your local game store first above all else. Even his sponsor. Really stand up decision mate
I also respect that a lot seeing as recently my LGS has gone out of business, and the nearest one i can find is about 40 miles away.
after ordering 5packs of 100 kmc perfect fit sleeves for 5€ a pack. i asked my local game store if they sell them.. and.. currently out of stock. they do. for 4€ a pack.. i will visit them again for sure!

I don’t have any MTG cards nor do I plan on learning how to play anytime soon but your videos are so well done I can’t help but binge watch them. CHEERS PROFESSOR
These days I don't buy any MtG accessories without the Prof's seal of approval. Watching these videos over the years has saved me so much time and money in keeping my collections safe and organized. Thanks for everything you do, Professor!
I bought the gamegenic dungeon on your recommendation and cant tell you how much I appreciate it. Thank you so much for the recommendation
Same here! Great box. For me it holds 5 decks, accessories for all of them, a playmat, dice & counters & tokens, and minis for both D&D and WH40K. It's a supreme all-in-one.
@@Rascus75 mine holds a 650 card commander cube, 3 playmats, tokens, and dice.
@@yaakovaberman8654 3 playmats? How did you manage that?
@@Rascus75 roll them up and use the second section for playmats. 1 for the 650 cards and tokens, put dice and rolled up playmats in the other
@@Rascus75 i haven’t tried 3, but I comfortly store two thick stitched playmats there. Just roll them together.
Buying local supports your local economy. Because you always strive to support local stores, I'll also support your channel. Kudos!
I love how he promotes local game shops!!
Lookin' good Professor.
Ahh, see I used the red key and ended up in a maze and befriended a cave troll. Not the same result but I’ll go with it.

god i love this man, found him yesterday and have been binging ever since. Such a genuine, caring guy it seems.
He genuinely cares and can't turn off his compassion, and it shows. And I adore him and his community for it.
That Stanley storage box you demoed awhile ago is still my favorite. I’ve got a real one and a knockoff. Together they hold my ultra budget commander decks.
I did not even know the Original Magic Art store was a thing, that's so cool! Thanks for the heads up!
EDIT: Managed to send a request for a playmat based on Draco, my dad's favorite card. Wish me luck on it being produced!
Good luck! I didn't know about the request thing either, gonna see if I can get my big zombo Gravespawn Sovereign in!
I'm either going to go lim dul or indestructible aura.
Resume of the video: If dragon shield makes it then is a good item, buy it!
The pocket binder playmat kinda sucks tho. Everything else is good
Unfortunately their deck shells and some of their deck boxes are a bit meh. Otherwise, yeah.
Their more expensive products are good, with notable exceptions (nest 300). Their low-tier products are pretty passable. For cheap deck shells I prefer gamegenic transparent boxes.
Also their binder pages are so hard to find in LGS.
Dragon Shield sleeves, Ultimate Guard Boulders and I've been exceedingly happy.
I’ve been on Dragon Shield sleeves, Petrols only for both mtg and yugioh, and now own thousands of both sizes. For inners KMC perfect fits always!
But for my boxes and binders, I’ve been a huge fan of Ultimate Guard, I love the texture and _smell_ of the xenoskin covers, the zipfolios and boulders are my favorites, but I own arkhives, superhives, sidewinders and flip n trays.

Don't forget the Stanley accessories box. It can hold 12 commander deck!
I just said something about them as well, they was one of my favorite recs. That's when i knew proof was really here for us and not corporations
The Stanley box is amazing, lmao. It’s like perfectly sized, whoever figured it out was a visionary.
Fantastic video Prof! This is just the video I’ve been looking for, rather than scrolling through playlists trying to find the best of each item. It’s always nice to start out with a good product, instead of buying a bad one and having to replace it later. These help a ton!
Professor, can you elaborate on what makes side-loader inner sleeves so bad, or potentially damaging? A quick tutorial on how to get (and keep) all the air out when using top loaders would also be helpful. No matter what I do, they keep getting "puffy" over time.
I know this is an old thread but the professor says sideloader can damage your cards, not only that they wont protect them as well as toploaders. Actually causing damage on their own and not protecting as well as toploaders are two different things. (I say while I scroll through trying to find a proper answer because I'm double sleeving my new deck and I've put side loaders on and am waiting for the rest of the cards to come in the mail before I do the second layer)
I think the main thing with side loaders for me personally is the surface area that dirt and stuff can get in is a lot bigger. You have a bigger slit that stuff can seep into.
I recently got back into MTG and remembered your older product reviews and immediately came here. Super useful information. I definitely gotta get more deck boxes and binders lol. Thanks professor!!
This is THE video for my Christmas list! I sent one of your previous ones to my family and got all kinds of great stuff, but this one is the best. Thank you for making it easy for non-magic people to buy gifts for us enfranchised magic players!
Always brings me a smile to know my precious Dragon Shields make The Professor's list 😊
They've been pretty much my only sleeves of choice for more than 15yrs now, I've still got an *OLD* DBZ Red deck fully sleeved in the old Classic Copper color from the mid-early 2000's from before I got back into Magic.
I would listen to the prof talk about literally anything for an hour man could sell ice to an eskimo
New with The Professor: Reading Recipes Recieved from Really Rare Restaurants
I know jack about Magic: The Gathering and I'm subscribed cuz of that
This is definitely an import video to make sure to like. Not only does it help the professor with view and helping people watch other videos for each product he has recommended, but mainly this is to help new players make sure they are buying the right product that are great quality and affordable. I'm just glad we see this every year even if it's something I already know.
Thank you Professor for doing this every year for the community!
Prof, I love your input my man. I always take a look at what the prof recommends for any tabletop game accessory I can think of and your top choices never disappoint. You’re a class act, keep doing what you’re doing!
Been a staunch buyer of boulders and towers but since buying a gamegenic sidekick, I think I found a new favorite
After double-sleeving my second commander deck and putting it in my new Gamegenic Stronghold deckbox (thank you so much for recommending it, its great) I wanted to leave a few words:
A few years ago I struggled with huge changes in my life and in a time of despair I decided to return to an old hobby of mine that I always hold dear through it all. But when I looked at MtG in 2016 I felt overwhelmed by the variety of products and formats and I was unsure which card sleeves and what not to buy. My city had no LGS at this time and I became unsure if I should even pick up Magic again. Thanks to your channel I felt well informed and infected with your contagious passion for a game I also love. I expanded my collection a bit and two years later we had a new LGS in town which I wasnt afraid of visiting for a few games and events. Magic became a very fun part of my life again and I think I wouldnt have made this decision without your content.
Thank you very much for putting so much emphasis on the part "Magic THE GATHERING", since thats the part of this game I love most. Thank you. Greetings from germany
Thanks! I’ve got a lot of these on my wishlist now. My mother actually got me quiver for my birthday and I’m blown away by the quality. Something so nice I would never have bought it for myself but it makes an awesome gift.
There’s a lot of things that are Prof-recommended I already use, but something nice about summing up the faves every year that really helps to reflect how things change (or don’t if you’re Dragon Shield) and remind me of certain products I haven’t considered yet.
Great video prof, you always go above and beyond for sound and experienced advise. We all appreciate it
I've been wanted to order a custom playmat for a while now, and I'm glad you mentioned Inked because I was heavily considering going with them, and now I will!
Thank you for all you do, professor. I have enjoyed your videos for years. You feel like an old friend to the magic community. ❤😊🎉
This is why I keep coming back for your review videos.
Saving me money and time on real products and not on garbage.
Kudos to you Prof!
Those Boulders have saved my decks time & again! Cannot thank you enough!
I need to pick up a few Gamegenic deck boxes along with some other accessories! Thank you Prof for the recommendations and all the content you provide to our community! You are our Steward!
5:10 the verbal on that title transition- the abrupt announce is hilarious. Excellent.
Giving this the engagement it deserves. Love ya Prof!
Is your profile picture from a Zelda game? I’m randomly seeing a lot of RUclipsr coverage about Link’s Awakening recently lol
@@corpsefoot758 Its a freebie raffle of my old DnD character, done by CookieHana on twitter and twitch! 😊 And thats a good rabbit hole to fall in. Link's Awakening is awesome.
Loved the video and it was really helpful for present ideas! I could not watch it yesterday because I was with my family. Hope the videos numbers go up because these are sone of your best most insightful ones and they are appreciated!
Ultra Pro Satin Towers have been my go-to deck box for my Commander decks for years, So was not surprised to see The Professor still agree.
If only I would have known it was that easy to be notified!
lol thank you for your videos they make me really happy
So glad I have stumbled across the professor as I now have the best idea on how to protect my newly begun collection
I truly love your videos. Such honest and straight forward information. Thank you!
really enjoyed the music throughout you and your team are gr8 at finding those public domain gems
Perfect timing for the holidays Prof. Thanks for a killer video. 😁👌
5:09 the way he says deck boxes makes me feel like prof was full brian mode half way thru the jack
I love that you encourage people to purchase from their local game store before your sponsor/affiliate company. Putting the community before yourself.
Love all your content! Your channel is the perfect source for me in everything that has to do with magich the gathering. When I first started playing table-magic and Mtg Arena, Tolarian Community College helped me out a lot. Keep up the excellent work!
I had a very stressful day at work and this was a nice way to end my day, thank you.
Thanks for being such a great source for information. I found you while looking at reviews and products because on multiple places people said unless the professor has a video on them I will not even touch X product. Thank you for being a wealth of trusted information.
Love the videos. I am getting back into cards from when I was a kid, for me that is yugioh. While not everything translates over to the smaller size cards, some important things do.
Things I have picked up already-Dragon shields are awesome(recommended at my local game shop and I LOVE the feeling of them, fits perfectly as opposed to loose sleeves from childhood), Boulder cases(same game shop, such a great feel once again so much better than the case from when a kid). Picking up the DS slipcase and DS 18 card holders as well thanks to this video.
Future pickups - Gamegenic looks great and will probably pick up some in a few months or years. I was cautious of the removable magnetic case lid until seeing the shake tests you preform. Definitely the brand I will pick for premium boxes with removable and compact layouts. Inked mats - heard good things before and ability to get a mat made in style of the original yugioh foldable gamemat with small changes to fit modern game.
What I really wish is for dragon shield sealing perfect fits sized for japanese sized cards. From your videos they seem beautiful and simple to use.
Thank you for addressing the tightness of the boulder deck box. I only used Dragon Shield matte outer sleeves. Next time I need inners, I'm going to see if my LGS carries KMC. Maybe this is part of the equation I'm missing. I've had to store decks loose in an Ultimate Guard Arkhive because I didn't want to damage any of my cards.
Just got back into magic after 20 years and I picked up two Gamegenic Dungeons and a Stronghold. Incredible product, wow how far we have come.
Still in love with my piratelab bags. Could not recommend it enough. Last year I got the biggest bag and has made my mtg life super organized.
Now I would like to see a video about Profs collection. Which of his decks are his favorites? Which is his oldest Deck, which is is his best/worst, which is his pet deck, which is his deck he doesn‘t get to work? What are the cards he always has to build new decks etc.
Thank you for putting this video out for the holiday season!
That doozy of an ender (17:38) was gold
I love how he suggests to have your LGS buy the product and then YOU buy from THEM. He only advertises his store at the end. What a gentleman.
Love your videos man, been watching for years but today you got my sub... One of 2 people I'm subbed to. 😁
Love the Pinkett references on the title cards. Thanks for the quality upload as always, Prof. Glad to be a patron.
Great video just in time for the holidays! Thanks Prof!
Just in time for my holiday shopping. Thanks Prof!
I noticed that I already use all of these items, except for the big boxes (where I've got my own custom solution). Great resource!
I really like seeing someone review a lot of these products and as a person who uses ultimate guard for yugioh I like seeing how the other companies make their products
Love seeing those sealed Homelands and 4e boxes on shelf.
Very intuitive as always Prof. Love the content as always. I havent heard of the bolt bieng out, looks great.
Great ambiance from the background zaq, professor. I applaud you
I bought my boyfriend a red boulder following your advice. Compact, sturdy, soft and cheap. Now I want some for myself!
Wow, what timing! I'm buying products right now, and just yesterday I was like "I wonder what the professor's top picks are right now", trying to avoid rewatching multiple reviews
I love these videos so much! I've learned about so many great things from these series of videos.
Got the bolt quiver for Christmas. It’s awesome. Three commander decks double sleeved in dragon shield inner and outer fit perfectly
Been hoping for one of these for a while. Thanks again Proff.
As a player that is getting back into mtg after many years, this is extremely helpful! Definitely going to pick up a quiver bolt!
I've been using exclusively Dragon shield sleeves since you first suggested them, and I have several decks in the Ultra Pro towers. Nice to feel validated about my trends!
My gamegenic dungeon holds my jump start “cube” (sleeved in dragon shield mattes and packed in cubamajigs) and dice in one side and 5 commander decks on the other perfectly. Thank you for your product reviews so I knew about these products.
PLEASE! Do one of this yearly. I would love to watch a 2023 FAVORITES video.
Your consumer review videos are the archetype I would use to review any product in general. It's opinionated without being nasty or overly enthusiastic. It's concise without being burdensome. It's entertaining without being a gimmicky showcase to replace content quality.
Add to this that consumers without knowledge of what to get especially in the accessories of MTG products, you are doing a very good service for people who fully enjoy this productive and awesome game.
Hi Prof. Just wanted to say, I love your music pick! Jazz (at least that's what I think it is :P) has a way with the holidays and it really gets me in the spirit :)!
Awesome video, I have some new ideas for a spattering of my friends.
Thank you!
one product the Professor didn't mention, but is a good item for Storage/Transport is the Stanley 10 compartment box organizer. Less than 20 dollars, each compartment can hold 100+ double sleeved cards, really good latches, TOUGH AS NAILS (because it was meant to hold nails and such)... yeah.
You got me into Magic. THANK YOU.
I chose my deck box for my favorite decks based on these videos. Gotta say, ITS PERFECT!!
yo the music in this video was VIBING. thanks for the recs Prof.
I didn't know about the dragon shield inner sleeves so that was super useful. I use to have the full sized quiver and it was good but a little big for me. I had just ordered the quiver bolt (which is new) and I'm really excited for it!
I'm missing my personal favorite which is the stanley 13 compartment organizer you recommended in the past :D
I so agree. I love it.
The Stanley case is a great product.
Thanks for all the content Prof. It's been a tough year losing my job and having to avoid seeing all my friends because of the dangers of the pandemic. You brighten my day and I am happy to be your patron in these trying times!
How are things going? Has it gotten better for you?
Thanks a lot Prof. I got the Gamegenic Stronghold and it's the best deckbox I have used on 20 years of MTG. I'm also transitioning my decks to Dragon Shield, following your recommendations. Great advice on great products. Please keep up with the amazing content and all the advices.
I don’t get the not-being-notified thing. I don’t think I missed a single video being advertised to me. I am always happy for these to come out.
I've almost exclusively used Ultra Pro Eclipse Matte sleeves, but will have to try out those Dragon Shields after Prof's recommendation👍
I personally own several of these products myself because of your reviews Prof. Thank you for helping the mtg community find the products that are right for them. I don't think I would trust anyone else with my cube after getting my first Quiver case. I definitely want a bolt or two for some of my decks once going out and playing again is a thing, and if they read these comments (which I think they do!) I kinda hope someday there might be an extra long or maybe even double wide version someday? I make larger than 360 cubes and while the classic holds a 360 double sleeved cube with room for basics for a perfect 8 person draft, I have a 480 cube I wish I could put double sleeved in a single quiver with both lands and tokens for taking to a cube night with my larger ones. But my fellow cube brewers, I say you definitely should check out the quiver and see how well it works for you. And the KMC plastic box is my favorite card storage system, plus i love to put stickers from artist i follow on twitter and such all over them!
So glad they came out with the ultrapro cube. Just that little height difference makes all the difference for portability.
Thank you for showing me all the new products
new in card collecting and this video is so good thank for the advice
I have my JumpStart packs in an Arkhive. Works great. Premium deckbox-wise, your review of the BCW Deck Vault LX 100 was the game changer. It has a compartment large enough for tokens! Or for cards that I'm still undecided on and swapping in and out. Love it.
This video WAS exacly what i was looking for. That quest master is undefeatable.
Definitely spend some time examining the shelves. I see a Bill Bryson book - he's one of my favorites and on my 'frequently re-read' list. These are travel/science books written with a very entertaining British/American blended style of humor and they're truly delightful. A Walk in the Woods is the classic, but Life and Times of Thunderbolt Kid makes a great gift for a boomer (or midwesterner), and In A Sunburned Country is ideal for an American that knows nothing about Australia (like I was).
awesome of you to push the LGS over even your sponsor, and awesome of card kingdom too
I love you prof on the engagement bit on the end of the video.
Nice to get a review after all these years ❤️
Loving the content. You always give us nothing less then perfect
I don't play Magic the Gathering, but I play the miniatures game Heroclix that uses standard size cards paired with the miniature. Awhile back I found your videos reviewing deck boxes and since then I have grown fond of all your review videos, even for MTG and other TCGs and their products. My Heroclix miniatures' cards are all sleeved in Dragon Shield Classic Clears, sets are stored in Ultimate Guard Boulders inside a Arkhive and I take the teams I picked out to the LGS in GameGenic deck boxes. My full set collections (Mainly the Batman/Xmen/Justice League Animated Series) are in UG Zip-folios so I can sit and read the "flavor text" of my favorite Heroes/Villians from comics on slow nights. Just wanted to let you know your reach spans TCGs and to thank you for the videos, looking forward to the future ones!
Everything I've bought that you've recommended has always been great and I've never been disappointed with it! Thanks Professor
