Seeing this brought back so many memories. I was 15 years old, playing Magic with my friends instead of running around the track in school in PE. The year was 1994. I think I had 90% of those cards. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I just started playing MTG at age 35 cause I thought my kids would enjoy it. When I say just I mean really maybe 4 games with a dual pack is all. Then I found your videos, and Its so cool that there people like you out there truly enjoying life it seems like, and sharing positivity, the world can be super sucky sometimes...a lot of the time.

That card would be broke for any control deck.

God I love the artwork of the first cards. Really everything about them is cool. Especially the way the font looks on the blue cards at this time. The artifacts and lands look sick too. Like the vintage Island card with the pink sky was really cool.

So you know, we have a rare book collection where I work and the librarian said clean, bare hands are better for paper than gloves. There are often powders and things like that on the gloves that are worst then the oils on your hands after washing apparently, check it out

Im sorry, what... the mint icy manipulator alone is a 500-1000$ card. Besides that do you really believe he bought an opened alpha starter for 20k without any idea what he would get. I highly doubt that.

Nowhere did he say he paid $20,000 for it. That's just the overblown estimated value of a sealed Alpha deck. Since it was already opened, and he knew the cards that were in it, he was actually buying a lot of 60 Alpha cards (plus the box). I'm guessing he paid maybe $5000 for it.

20k is the current pricing for these sets. A sealed Alpha booster pack goes for 7k.

I miss opening the old school packs. I was in the Coast Guard when this game started. I would buy them by the case. I got out of Magic in 1998, sold all of my cards, bought a truck and a motorcycle, and thought I'd never look back. Then my son dragged me back into this game 2 years ago. Man am I kicking myself now. I had 3 Black Lotus' and the Alpha set was complete twice in binders. I could retire if I saved those cards until today.

@Bryan Black I have two alpha decks with lotuses and moxen that are almost hourglass shaped. I used to keep them rubber banded and in my back pocket. my friend and I would whip them out to play wherever we could - on the sidewalk waiting for the bus, at lunch, you name it. If we found a flat surface, we played. I still have the decks, still rubber banded.
