Machynlleth to Barmouth filmed from the cab of a class 150 Sprinter in 1988 - the last year of semaphore signalling and single line tokens on the branch line.
I used to come on holidays with my mother, father, and siblings to Barmouth. We got the train from Ruabon up through Bala junction past the lake and down through Dolgellau . A trip that was as much part of the holiday as our stay in Barmouth. Alas the line fell victim to the Marples destruction era of the midday 60’s 😢😢😢
nice to see 150s working it. i think you still got Central Trains 150 substitutes on the route every now and then until 2001; not sure if Wales & Borders / Arriva Trains Wales did that at all pre-ERTMS

Another Driver's Eye View worth buying. I'd love to see this one filmed again all the way to Pwhelli!
Very nice trailer for the complete DVD
That house on the north/west end of the bridge over the river at Dovey Junction must be a lovely place to witness the seasons 🙂
Such an iconic 1980s theme too. @video125 can we download your themes still?
Who remembers this route years ago
1988. I met a right nice bird that year.
up until last summer i used to spend every other weekend here for years sadly will not make it this year
That train is 150109 which is one of the three London Midland 150s in stock
Interestingly if you take a closer look, the train on Barmouth Bridge is 150125. They must have used 2 different 150's for this DVD

Great theme tune, but what's the name?
