There have been a lot of people getting mad that Din's role isn't as big as they think it should be, but for me I love it. He's the LINCHPIN that all of these events are swirling around. Luke wasn't the sole protagonist of the original trilogy because there was a much larger story than JUST his. I feel this is the same way here, and I love that it's not just a single person for multiple seasons, but focusing on how a single person can fit into HUGE waves galaxy-wide. In a very real way, I feel that if it was a story made solely with Din as the only protagonist, we wouldn't be getting nearly as epic a story.
When those little droids formed a crime scene perimeter around the fallen battle droid, somewhere in the back of my head I heard, "Citizens step back from the crime scene. Interference with a crime scene carries an automatic sentence of 2 years in the isocubes."
Din wasn’t just beat up by that creature. It took the saber from him and then Bo took it from the creature. And as long as the other Mandalorian’s accept it, it is the way.
Yeah the fact that the creature took it from him means it was the creatures technically and then bo defeated that creature and took it so their was no rule change technically it follows the rules nothing was changed the creed was followed
Din's line of logic holds up as long as it's assumed all Mandalorians are honorable and don't lie. The fact that no one questions his explanation attests to that notion.
Especially since we've already seen that non-Mandos like Maul are considered valid as owners of the Darksaber. If Maul counts, then so does The Curse of Mandalore.
I think Bendu is right with the Darksaber being more Elder wand-ish. Not by killing your opponent, but by disarming it from the current wielder instead. Because we don't know exactly how Moff Gideon got it other than speculation he won it from Bo, but she's still living so then he wouldn't be the rightful owner. I mean also on Wookieepedia it shows that the Unidentified Cyborg was an owner.
No, no. Still not Elder Wand-ish. The blade itself has no power (with regards to giving anyone the "right" to rule Mandalore), only the story has (and only because people believe it, there is no magic here). My wish now is that the blade gets destroyed at the end of all this so that the Mandos don't have to argue with each other about who gets to rule because of it. 😛 Hehe.
This is how I see it…Din most likely also thinks his logic was simplistic and dumb because he probably thinks their way is simplistic and dumb. He didn’t want the saber in the first place at the end of S2 by trying to hand it over saying “i yield.” That’s not his understanding of the Creed but he knows it’s theirs and if a technicality can get them to join in retaking Mandalore while thrusting Bo back into leadership where I think he thinks she should be, then why not use it. It’s almost like he’s mocking them while furthering the overall goal.
He was basically just saying “Get the stupid thing away from me and take Lady Kryze back you idiots” in a more dignified way. He NEVER wanted it and was probably working on a way to loophole it away for a while now.
The logic is that when he lost to the creature he lost possession of the dark saber to the "bug man" aso since she then defeated the "owner" she regained possession. That is the rule of it's ownership; you defeat the owner to become the owner. That's solid and fairly cut and dry logic. I actually thought this back when it originally happened and I'm glad they used that to get it back to her. So far this has been my favorite season.
Jack Black is a super Star Wars fan. It was a different episode but not a bad one that some say. I love how Bo and Din work together and learn from one another.
@D T Day Nah. It wasn't that bad to me. The only thing that was quite jarring to me was seeing Lizzo. Because I only know of her as a singer, not an actress. It was akin to seeing Ed Sheeran on GoT, and hers was a bigger role so... it was a bit weird... But everything else in the episode was cool to me. 👍

the idea of droid rights is always something that interests me and thought about it alot this ep, tbh when Din was kicking the super battle droids i lowkey was like "i want one to just smack him like 'fuck off'"
@Kyle Katarn, 18:04 That was one of Bo-Katan's conditions for helping Din save Grogu, remember? She wanted Gideon's ship and to be the one to take him down. 4:45 That doesn't matter, though. Din was defeated and his weapon was on the ground and was at the discretion of the creature that had captured him; it belong to him, not Din at that moment. Fast forward to Bo-Katan't encounter with that creature, and her victory over it. She defeated the creature that defeated Din. Bo-Katan wanted to face Gideon last season because she wanted to challenge the wielder of the Dark Saber. Gar Saxon didn't defeat Maul, Ahsoka did. Yet, he took the Dark Saber for himself because no one else came to claim it. Sabin later defeated him and took the Dark Saber from him. Sabin gave it to Bo-Katan and for a time, it was enough for Mandalorians to respect that gifting. This time around, however, Bo-Katan rightfully won the weapon in combat, which a big part of her culture. That victory and the story with it, and her victory over the man who took her forces from her, will strengthen her hold on leadership. This was a great story, and it had a lot of fun guest appearances. I can't wait to see where this goes. I wonder if Bo-Katan is done patching things up or if she's got one more stop on her list. I'm referring to the man she refused to call a Mandalorian last season, Boba Fett! The Mandalorian is the one who will lead them all, no? Seems like that person is actually Bo-Katan. Din kicked things off, sure, but Bo-Katan is the heir apparent according to the Armorer and Din's okay with that. Mending old wounds between the Children of the Watch and regular folk is important, but shouldn't she also mend things with Boba Fett as well? It isn't fair to blame him for what Jango did. He's still a foundling and he knows their traditions. He might not call himself a Mandalorian, but if he could, he likely would. He's a man with no people to call his own, and we saw what it meant for him when the Sandpeople made him one of them. It meant the world to him. Boba Fett isn't pleased with what he's accomplished on Tatooine. He feels incomplete. Why introduce him last season and with the other Mandalorians, if he's not part of the endgame to bring back Mandalore and all its glory. We have a Mandalore because of Boba Fett. To be honest, I thought the guy that all of Mandalore hated was going to be the one to unite them all, but I'm fine with Bo-Katan being the one. Anyway, that's my take on all this.
I just noticed the sound bite from the security footage: the speeder that takes off into the wall- the acceleration sound is doc brown's DeLorean! Really neat little Easter egg there! Nice nod to back to the future ☺️
Hold up Kyle, that's not what Din meant. Because Din was defeated, the Sabre then goes to his captor. THEN his captor was defeated by aunty Bo, therefore she would be the rightful owner. Din could have worded this better, rather than say, "my defeater was defeated, so she gets it."
Regarding the darksaber, I think Din bent the rules and found a loophole on purpose as a way to support Bo. Fist of all he never really wanted the saber to begin with, but he knew that Bo needed the darksaber if they were to secure their allegiance. They wouldn't follow Din because of his affiliation with the COTW and they wouldn't follow Bo without the saber. So, he found a loophole and did what he had to do to rally those mandalorians to their cause. The sword doesn't have power, its the story. But, I could also be completely wrong, so who knows
I just want to say that these days I'm just as excited to watch you guys react and review these episodes as I am to watch them myself. So often I sit down to watch it thinking I can't wait to hear what Kyle and Bendu thought, what nugget of lore will they pull from the episode and teach me that no other reactor will. Thank you both for all you do.
What a fun episode. Axe was such a softy. I mean he said to the Quarren captain that he didn't care if she and the prince run away again. Great reaction you guys.
So, the Elder Wand logic. Draco disarmed Dumbledor, Harry disarmed Draco. The Droid disarmed Din, Bo-Katan killed the droid. Going by this logic, it is totally working. If we look at the Mandalorian here, Bo-Katan could have just taken the Dark Saber... but she did not, even though she would have all the right to do so. Which makes it even more honorable for her to have it given to her freely... in the end, it is all Mandalorian superstition, but creed wise... i believe it to be absolutly valid.
"What in the Romeo and Juliet... "What in the Davy Jones... "What kind of Mad Hatter..." If Grogu had done something that played a part in solving the case, the knighting might have made some sense.
Its funny how with Christoper Lloyd in the episode no one noticed the stolen speeder in the surveillance video had the same sound effect as the Delorean from Back to the Future.
This show is just live action clone wars and I love it!! This episode was like Mandalorian NCIS and I love it! So cool! I hope this show continues plenty more seasons.
Seems to be the perfect place for Din to to take home the parts kit for IG11. Very fun episode. Din continues to show how his travels make him able to work with the different species and people of the galaxy. This will pay dividends eventually.
What’s interesting is the Armorer didn’t want the Beskar spear around cause it could damage Beskar and hurt other Mandalorians but made Din the whistling birds out of the extra Beskar Din brought (minus what they save for foundlings). I thought when I heard Beskar Alloy that it was Dark Troopers. From what I remember no Mandalorian armor or weapon is Beskar Alloy. They revere Beskar too much to mix it with other metal.
One thing to consider: since their following to the Creed/Old way is less strict/dogmatic, the use of such logic can/could work on those. It might not work as well on The Child of the Watch, but that's something they can talk/seek advise with the Armorer about. Right now, getting back the fleet under her is their priority, and if using that logic work, might as well go for it.
I thought it was interesting that the dark saber always knew Din wasnt going to be the rightful owner...he was never able to master the blade even years later.
The Darksaber/Elder Wand analogy sums it up perfectly. As soon as Bionicle took it, you had to know this was coming. Of course, what happens next is that Bo-Katan tells Din about the Mythosaur, and you can guess who'll get to ride it into battle against Moff Gideon. It's the merging of the "two worlds" that they've already foreshadowed. Oh, the Bo-Katan Mythosaur pauldron swerve was good, but someone else also has a spare pauldron with nothing on it.
The logic is perfectly sound as the challenge for the Darksaber denotes any battle were the blade is taken from the owner thus making the spider borg the victor against Din.
You could argue that the question wasn’t about who beat who, but more about who got possession of the sabre after losing it. Bo picked up the sabre that Din lost and killed his defeater with it. If Din had died before Bo came does that mean that no-one could ever rightfully possess it again? I mean, when you have such strict rules of honour your gonna end up with lots of weird edge cases.
"Din was being a middle schooler about it..." No, neither of you get the point. By this logic, Din never owned it since he never defeated Darth Maul or Pre Vizsla. It's not necessary for Bo to defeat Mando. Mando was disarmed and defeated in ep 2. The Dark Saber was no longer his. By their rules, that thing would have been able to claim rulership just as Maul did. Bo killed it and took the Dark Saber, then laid it by Mando's unconscious body. Fighting Din was not a necessary step.
I hope Thrawn's goal is the same as it is in the books, to defend his people (and the rest of the galaxy) against the Grysks. He knows there's a bigger threat out there but neither the old or new Republic wasn't up to the task so he has to do what he can by himself.
As much as I'd love to see live action Thrawn with Imperial ships in Ahsoka, I've been worried about whether they'll keep him true to the books, since he only was a part of the Empire as a sort of scout for his people to determine whether the Empire would be an ally or a threat (iirc). Hopefully it'll transpire in the series that the Grysks are the threat! I can't see him sticking with the Empire after it's gone, since he's only really loyal to the Ascendancy
I like how the distinction was made between beskar and beskar alloy. Cause I’m scratching my head wondering how Luke could crush Dark Troopers made of beskar
I don't think beskar is also force resistant is it? Just blaster/saber? I'd also have to go rewatch the Luke fight, he could very easily have been targetting weak spots (points where the plates connect, etc) and not just cutting directly through the metal head on.
This episode was basically made after the "buddy movie" model from the 80's. 2 "cops" together, jokes everywhere, a corrupt/malfunctioning elite, a chase in a crowded street ending with a thug shot, then they find the address of a shady bar, music stops there because they don't like "coppers", good cop/bad cop... It's all there, and I found it pretty nice that they managed to adapt it to the star wars universe.
Heard Christopher Lloyd was in this season. Jack Black and Lizzo surprised me though. Droid cantina took me back to A New Hope. Bo holding that Dark Saber gave me goosebumps. People complain it isn't Din's show anymore. It's called world building. Set up Ashoka and more.
I wish it was a little more on the nose or it the least that Kyle recognized it when Din mentioned "they don't get many of our kind around here " I mean, it was subtle. I caught it. I wish they had caught it.
Kind of poetic that the last time Bo-Katan heard the words 'One warrior to another', it was from Maul when he challenged and killed her friend Viszla, and later killed her sister, both with the Darksaber. You can tell she was hesitant to ignite it. Now she uses it and those words to take her home back, Satine would be proud.
This was a GREAT episode. I absolutely loved the esthetic of that planet. So many cool aliens on screen too! And the droid killer mission was cool. I agree it definitely brought some traumas back for Din. And that logic about the Darksaber being rightfully hers is what I've been saying since that episode. It's great that she gave it back but he's not the rightful owner anymore. She's back in command of her fleet now. How many more tribes does she need to bring in?
I have no spare money to send, but please please keep your reviews going ❤ You 2 are a highlight of my week after I see new live action content. There are other sites, but being a geek in Cymru, I feel like your shares are like putting on comfy slippers and being hugged for my nuances .
The only thing that was missing during when Bo Katan and Din Djarin goes and meets with the other Mandalorians is some war tents, maybe some of the other warriors dueling each other. And relying on droids so heavily to do every single piece of hard work for them, reminds me of Zakuul.
The thing with the darksabre should be flipped on its head if they want to do that. The sabre represents the ruler, not the ruler represents the sabre. If Bo Katan has earned the right to rule, she has earned the right to wield the sabre. Because at the moment, it's basically the darksabre itself, that is the ruler of Mandalore.
Since I haven't seen anyone mention it, I'm pretty sure I spotted several white painted Vespa speeders from BOBF in the city during the chase sequence.
Lets keep in mind that this was episode 6 and though it was all nice and great to look at. And would have been cool to have this "side mission" in a 12 episode season, outside of Bo getting the Saber at the very end, and becoming leader again, almost no progression of the main story, no answers to last episodes cliff hanger, and we only have 2 episodes left.
Good episode. Bryce has her dad's touch. Now Bo will have to handle the damage her people did as mercenaries. And then toss in the beskar found at Moff's destroyed transport. I expect them to handle this problem next episode and the final will be taking Mandalore. Also expect some friction with the two groups.

@@captin3149 PREACH!!
Glad you and I have used big brain energy to see the larger story at play, brother.
@@captin3149 yes! you said well. i like that creators deviate once in a while, or else we'd have Din & Grogu fatigue.
@@captin3149 Yeah! I think people need to remember that there’s a bigger universe here.
Don’t know about you guys, but even though Grogu isn’t a Jedi knight, I’m still like a proud dad seeing him basically get knight of the realm
Did anyone else get strong Mass Effect citadel vibes from the city when they first got off the Hyperloop??
A bit this episode felt like a side quest that you could do in Knights of the old republic
@@monsterking1973 I'd do any quest involving Jack Black and Doc
Yup!! I kept expecting to hear: “Commander Sheppard please report to the Normandy.” 😂🥳🥹
Yes! And the crime scene with the digital police tape was straight out of Mass Effect 2 on Illium.
The trams and elevators were too fast for it to be the Citadel.
Jokes. Mass Effect is my favourite series of all time.
I really enjoyed the buddy cop feel of this episode. Bo & Din doing a little good cop/bad cop with droids is something I never knew I needed!
Exactly. I don’t see why Kyle was saying it was cheap. Din lost ownership of the Dark Saber to the robot, who lost it to Bo Katan
Was gonna say the same thing. To me this is logical and completely legit.
I just got a delightfully Spaceballs image in my head of Din showing Axe the Wookieepedia page as proof that Bo-Katan is the rightful owner.
@@WhatKindOfNameNow Then they both 4th wall break and say "huh" with a slight surprised look
😛 Hehe.
Bendu’s commentary and predictions were on point this episode! “Beat his ass!!” 😂😂
This episode has such Bladerunner vibes! Bryce Dallas Howard did a great job with this one!
Bo learned from Mr. Incredible; "You sly dog. You got me monologuing."
Y’all are my new favorite SW reacters; too many others couldn’t appreciate this episode
Giancarlo Esposito said that Gideon's motivation is that he wants to be a Mandalorian.
Jack Black is a super Star Wars fan. It was a different episode but not a bad one that some say. I love how Bo and Din work together and learn from one another.
Bo and Din doing Law & Order Special Droids Unit was my favorite part. Loved that Din was the one playing Bad Cop.
@@opsatr i didn’t have a problem with her being in it either, i just assume she paid to be in it and they took her money and said yeah we’re gonna hire jack black with this LMAO
@@reheatedpizza7292 It was actually the perfect episode for these particular actors to cameo in (Jack Black, Christopher Lloyd, and yes, Lizzo included) because it was more of the lighthearted type of episode.
I mean, if they cameo'd in the 3rd episode, that might not have worked. 🤪 Haha! 😆
Anyway, I suppose next episode, we might be moving back towards more serious stuff again. (Maybe. I don't really watch trailers. 🙃)
Jack Black, Lizzo and Christopher Lloyd made this the absolute worst Mandalorian episode by a Parsec.
The guy who played the fish prince at the beginning is Tom Holland’s brother - you can def hear the family resemblance in his voice
The cameos! The straight up police procedural! The story progression! So good! I loved it!
Y'all missed a cameo.
The Ugnaut that Din and Bo-Katan were talking to about the droid malfunctions is Mark Hamill underneath the prosthetics.
the idea of droid rights is always something that interests me and thought about it alot this ep, tbh when Din was kicking the super battle droids i lowkey was like "i want one to just smack him like 'fuck off'"
Yeah, the kicking but even more so the droid bar just made me sad/angry.
@Kyle Katarn,
18:04 That was one of Bo-Katan's conditions for helping Din save Grogu, remember?
The weird bug droid dude was ruler of mandalore for like 10 minutes 😂😂😂
I just noticed the sound bite from the security footage: the speeder that takes off into the wall- the acceleration sound is doc brown's DeLorean! Really neat little Easter egg there! Nice nod to back to the future ☺️
Always great to watch with you guys!
I’m having a whiplash watching this episode 🤪 Sir Grogu, the Knight of the Dining Table 😋
Sir Grogu saved the day!
Regarding the darksaber,
I think Din bent the rules and found a loophole on purpose as a way to support Bo.
Great Episode! It felt like an RPG mission / buddy cop movie hybrid.
Mando was never defeated, he was plain out ambushed and captured. There was never a fight and never a challenge.
Seeing that B2 in action , now you know how an average Clone Trooper feel like facing them
I just want to say that these days I'm just as excited to watch you guys react and review these episodes as I am to watch them myself. So often I sit down to watch it thinking I can't wait to hear what Kyle and Bendu thought, what nugget of lore will they pull from the episode and teach me that no other reactor will. Thank you both for all you do.
Agree to that ... and well said (rhyme not intended) 😉👍
It is a lame way to do it, but it’s absolutely valid within the Mandalorian rules.
@@breezy.1.L "lame" sounds like "I WANT TO SEE BLOOD!" In the end, this is just a cultural obsticle to re-unite the mandalorians.
"What in the Romeo and Juliet...
"What in the Davy Jones...
"What kind of Mad Hatter..."
If Grogu had done something that played a part in solving the case, the knighting might have made some sense.
All he needed to do was have the Queen like him, it was in the bag
Who has the sword ends the argument. Din is her greatest lieutenant now and she is the legit leader
Bo Katan saved Din Djarin's life twice in the same day on Mandalore, the Darksaber is hers
Its funny how with Christoper Lloyd in the episode no one noticed the stolen speeder in the surveillance video had the same sound effect as the Delorean from Back to the Future.
This episode was basically Blade Runner at Epcot, with a sprinkling of Game of Thrones at the end, and it was fantastic
Dude imagine a B2 battle Droid running at you at that full chase speed in the battlefield 😂
This show is just live action clone wars and I love it!! This episode was like Mandalorian NCIS and I love it! So cool! I hope this show continues plenty more seasons.
Bizarre episode but I loved every second of it
Seems to be the perfect place for Din to to take home the parts kit for IG11.
32:47 Kyle, you literally made me LOL! Omg, ty so much for that!
Who knew all the chaos would be the fault of a guy named after the gates of hell 🤷♀️
You realise Grogu was/is a Padawan, a.k.a. an Apprentis Jedi, now he is an apprentis Jedi - Knight...
I love that for the most of the episode Din is just Vibing 😂
I'm pretty sure it was a faction of the mandos who followed Axe Woves or the ones that followed Gar Saxon back in Rebels
This Became a total buddy cop episode and I absolutely loved it!
I thought it was interesting that the dark saber always knew Din wasnt going to be the rightful owner...he was never able to master the blade even years later.
Did anyone notice that they dropped the ”The” from the title for the first time?
Have you guys seen the Tukk Tales trailer? It’s a fan animation and it looks amazing
I'm blown away at how.... fantastic Jack and Lizzo played their characters tbh
"Din was being a middle schooler about it..."
No, neither of you get the point.
That weird bug guy had been ruling Mandalore for years, he don't need no stinking saber.
36:25
One guy in the back: "I don't care what logic they use, Bo-Katan was just handed the Darksaber. Not my ruler!"
What is this Mad Hatter tea party right now, lol!?! Another great reaction boiz!
I like how the distinction was made between beskar and beskar alloy. Cause I’m scratching my head wondering how Luke could crush Dark Troopers made of beskar
The Dark Troopers were not made out of Beskar.
It's all there, and I found it pretty nice that they managed to adapt it to the star wars universe.
loved the naming all the alien races at the table
Heard Christopher Lloyd was in this season. Jack Black and Lizzo surprised me though. Droid cantina took me back to A New Hope. Bo holding that Dark Saber gave me goosebumps. People complain it isn't Din's show anymore. It's called world building. Set up Ashoka and more.
I wish it was a little more on the nose or it the least that Kyle recognized it when Din mentioned "they don't get many of our kind around here "
I mean, it was subtle. I caught it. I wish they had caught it.
Remember the Nobleman's son bounty from Season 1?
Oooh you’re right!
The whole city seems to be a reference to Logan's Run.
Technically correct, the best form of correct.
The possession of the sword makes you king
Best line of this reaction that got a huge chuckle out of me: "I told you man, never trust Dr. Ball"
I have no spare money to send, but please please keep your reviews going ❤
You 2 are a highlight of my week after I see new live action content.
She gets the Saber and Din gets the Mythosaur.
is no body going to talk about the fact the security control room with all the cameras is straight out of jurassic world?
'Lethal Weapon, Space Edition'.
21:15 "What in the Mad Hatter tea party sh*t is happening?!" 🎩🧁🥮🎂 lol
Love bendus room including the spiritualist stuff. Nice chair
I love your commentary and reactions. So many reactors were sh*tting on this episode and I loved it.
How did I know you two would completely fall in line with the new narrative. No outside the box thinking
The mon cal at the beginning was Harry Holland, Tom Hollands brother.
