If I remember correctly from the Legends Kenobi novel, the Tuskens do indeed have deep connections with their Banthas but once the rider dies they either kill their bantha or release it. If that’s still true here, we can assume the first bait bantha belonged to a now dead Tusken and they’re just being practical while honoring their traditions.

The funny thing is is as much of a reference that this makes it looks nothing like the dragon in Kotor, it actually was about the size of a school bus or two and had legs and arms and crawled like a horned lizard, but I like the direction they took this in I immediately thought of Dune and Tremors.

Well, tbh, it does make more sense for a "Dragon" that lives on a Sand Planet to be more like a Worm or like a Chinesse Dragon, rather than like the ones we see in Medieval Stories.
My fair guess is that when KOTOR was created, they just didn't think about making a "Dragon" that would look different from what we usually see.

Star Wars Episode IV was the first movie I remember seeing at the theatre when I was about 6 years old. I loved the classic Star Wars films, still have my collection of Kenner figures & collectable glasses from Hungry Jacks (Burger King), I even remember seeing the fan spoof 'Hardware Wars' played at the theatre back in 1978 prior to a screening of a New Hope. The Mandalorian is the first show since I was a kid that has truly reignited my love for the Star Wars universe & actually made me want to go back and rewatch or seek out all the stuff I've missed over many years. The on the ground moments with locals and especially the Tusken Raiders. I think that is a skill for any SW property, you have to be able to expand and contract the scope quickly at times but still have feel to it.
The immense attention to detail with even little things, R5's scorched area from the bad motivator, the cleaning of the Bantha's teeth (They are essential to the survival of the Sand People, makes sense to keep them in good health)

i've said it before & don't mind repeating myself, but as someone who grew up in the 70s going to watch matinees every Saturday morning, this show is the single greatest recreation of AND ode to those shows that i've *ever* seen. the simplicity is genius but it's so niche AND simultaneously for everyone that it's unlike most tv we've seen in decades.
it honestly feels like F&F are transporting me back to being a wide-eyed kid in a dusty cinema 40+ years ago, every minute of every chapter and to see other people (most of whom are younger & with much deeper knowledge than i) reacting in the same way (even if for slightly differing reasons) means this art is also unlike a lot of stuff we've seen in a while. bravo F&F, bravo.

I think the dragon shown in this episode could be referred to as a Great or Greater Krayt Dragon, an evolved form of the traditional Krayt Dragon, which like was mentioned looks like a giant komodo. Looking at the size of the pearl retrieved at the end, I would guess that this dragon was really old, as I think I read somewhere that the pearl grows slowly and constantly for as long as the dragon is alive. The lack of extremities/limbs might be a natural process the dragon goes through if/when it reaches a certain age/size, or it could be affected by the geography through the differing soil and earth density (like how on rocky and mountainous regions of Tatooine, where the ground is solid rock, the dragons keep their limbs and hunt above ground- while in areas that is covered in huge and deep deserts, the dragon drops the limbs and goes through the sand Tremors style). ;D
Or, excluding the extra material like the games and illustrations, they could have just gone with a design that would fit with the skeleton seen in ep 4. ;D
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My opinion, they just got lazy and it was the easiest way to do it. Hell they only had to render a head and neck. I've spent ages hunting krayt for pearls, for me this snake version will be chalked up to a lazy production team.

Amazing, what happens when people who love and understand the material are in charge. I want Cobb Vanth to become a recurring character. I have a feeling that, if the rumor that the series could culminate in a feature film, a la The MCU, Cobb would totally rock on THE BIG SCREEN.

Not as traditional as his but also not as violent and bloodthirsty as the Death Watch from the Clone Wars.
