I love this so much, and I'm SO thankful you mentioned there's both a glossy and matte version of the laminate. I love the idea and the ease of this, but the glossy glare on the ones I've seen has really hindered me from giving it a go. I do have one question - Do you find this method has better results than the sublimation sprays out there? I want to be able to put out the best quality I can!
Hi I am new to sublimation and love your videos. Should I let the canvas cool between putting the laminate onto the canvas and then the sublimation print.
I love this video and making the canvas pictures.. But I cant get rid of all the bubbles (400 / 20 sec) no matter how hard I try smoothing them out with my scrapper and hand, they just dont go away... and my colors dont seem as bright as they should (400 / 60 sec) I do also notice some yellowing along the edges, is this from the laminate? Using Scotch Thermal Laminate pouches.. Any suggestions?
I did exactly as stated in the video and my design didn’t transfer to the canvas very well. In fact very little of the ink transferred over. I am using a heat press and temp 400. Thankfully my design wasn’t a waste as I was able to repress onto a wash rag .
I had a question about the thermal sheets. Every time I try putting it on my canvas it wrinkles all over. I am using a heat press to do this. Do you think I need to try a different thermal laminate paper or is it something else? Thanks
I have just bought a Cameo 4 as my first ever machine. I enjoyed the first couple videos I watched but I think this one was more advanced than I am ready for. Thank you for all the videos and I will cut my first thing this week, hopefully. I don't know what a sublimation printer is lol. By the way, Hello from Melbourne Australia

When you removed the top sheet & exposed the photo it looked like ink was missing in several spots but at the very end of your video, the photo was in full color. Did I miss something? The finished product looked great! Also, I did a welcome gift for a friend of mine on wood. Is it possible to take the design I did in vinyl, print it and apply it to canvas? Hope that makes sense? TIA
Hey SJ, I think what you may have seen is the glare on the glossy lamination sheet. The print definitely sublimated very well. And yes, anything you can send to your printer can be used for sublimation, SVG, JPEG, PNG etc. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi - love your channel - when i press the lamanate onto the canvas I get little divits from the canvas showing through the laminate so when I press the photo onto it the photo comes out with all the marks of the canvas if that makes sence - any idea how I can get a smooth finish on my laminate without the marks coming through
Tyrone, this is normal, it's going to conform to the canvas texture. I think higher pressure is better, it at least makes it look uniform. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hello is the spray that you hit the image with just a sealer for the image if so can I use mod podge clear matte sealer ( what I have on hand) . Also do you have a video on how to canvas into a bigger surface . My printer prints up to an 13x19 . However I have 11x17 paper on hand and trying to make a 24x30 canvas
Hey Susanne, unfortunately this wouldn't work on a canvas tote bag as the laminate sheet remains stiff and can have sharp edges. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hello! Came across this video and tried it once with success however I’m having difficulty now and hearing the laminate sheet to the canvas. We followed the directions of 400° for about 15 to 20 seconds but it sticks to the butcher paper instead of the canvas. Any suggestions on how to achieve a correct adherence? Thanks!
Can you use any kind of canvas? Does it have to be a panel? Very cool btw, and I love the design! The laminate, is that something you purchase for any heat transfer? Or is that like the laminate you buy with laminating machines?
Great questions! So to start off with, the laminate is just a thermal laminate sheet you can purchase to use with a thermal laminator, you can grab them at your local office supply or online. You can apply it to almost any hard surface to apply sublimation, but it works best with canvas and wood (coming soon). I only use this method with canvas panels because with regular wrapped canvases, you would have to remove the canvas from the frame, apply the laminate and sublimate, then reattach to the frame. It can be done, it's just not as easy of a process as the panels. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I am doing a 24x48 canvas. It's going to have Dad in the middle and photos around it. Do I cover the whole canvas with laminate sheets, heat with the heatpress, then put dad and photos?
Hey April! I don't see why not, but I'm not sure that you wouldn't see the seam between the sheets. If you can find someplace that sells laminate in large enough sheets or rolls to cover the entire canvas at once, that would be ideal. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Wendy, since you are applying the laminate sheet, any canvas should work, I prefer the panels since they are easy to press. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Hey Becky.....great video. I'm just getting into sublimation (haven't done any yet). Question, do you have to use butcher paper or can you use parchment paper to cover everything? Thanks! BTW love the design you did.

Does it matter about the size (I think the thickness) of the laminate? I'm seeing rolls of laminate at 1.5 mil, 3 mil and 5 mil. Does it matter what I use?
I gave this a try and it was a fail. When I pressed the laminate onto the canvas, it shrunk and got wrinkly. Too much heat? I used 400 degrees for 15 seconds on my Hotttonix press. I used the Amazon Basics thermal laminating sheets.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong . I followed the steps and the letters are smearing and a lot of moisture is coming out of the back of the canvas. Should I wait for the paper to dry before ironing on?
Hey Alease, the ink will gas-off when heated, is there any chance you are seeing that instead of moisture? If it is moisture, a pre-press should get the moisture out for you. If your letters are smearing, that sounds like ghosting, are you using any type of adhesive or tape? ---Becky
Hey Dorothy! For the laminate sheets, I have used both the Scotch brand from Walmart (or any office supply store) and the Amazon brand. The canvas panels can also be purchased on Amazon. Hope this helps! ---Becky

i'm wanting to do a qr code for wifi at our business, on a little flat canvas, but the sheets i have are glossy and im afraid it'll have issues with the glare and scanning. has anyone tried this? i dont want to buy 60.00 matte just for this!
Please help.. I don't know if I am purchasing the right thing. I see Thermal laminate "pouches" on Amazon... not sheets. Some say thermal some say Self Adhesive.. I assume the thermal sheets are the way to go?? But does it matter.. pouch or sheets?? What type of laminate
Good question Jamillah. The pouches vs sheets should be the same thing. They call them pouches because they sandwich the paper in the middle, so I guess they're not technically individual sheets. You definitely want the thermal ones though and NOT the self-adhesive. Hope this helps! ---Becky

do you sell this design ..looks like my daughter and her girl and cat!
I don't, but you can use the bundle to create your own, it's a great bundle to have for sure! Hope this helps! ---Becky
Does it matter about the size (I think the thickness) of the laminate? I'm seeing rolls of laminate at 1.5 mil, 3 mil and 5 mil. Does it matter what I use?
Hey Kristina! When I ordered lamination by the roll, I ordered the 3 Mil. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Why do we need the lamination paper
I gave this a try and it was a fail. When I pressed the laminate onto the canvas, it shrunk and got wrinkly. Too much heat? I used 400 degrees for 15 seconds on my Hotttonix press. I used the Amazon Basics thermal laminating sheets.
I would try turning the heat down to about 375 and then trying again. 😊
Can you use adhesive spray to keep it in place?
Absolutely, Lisa! I use adhesive spray on (almost) every project, it's a life saver! ---Becky
Does it take special laminating film?
Nope, just the same laminating sheets you buy at your office supply store or Amazon. Hope this helps! ---Becky
---Becky
can you add a link to the materials you used? I want to buy exactly what you used as far as the heat laminate
Hey Dorothy! For the laminate sheets, I have used both the Scotch brand from Walmart (or any office supply store) and the Amazon brand. The canvas panels can also be purchased on Amazon. Hope this helps! ---Becky
This is great! Have you ever tried embossing powder with the sublimation inks? I'd also love info on printer and inks.
Hi Susan! Thank you for we haven't yet, but we will add this to our list of tutorial ideas! We use the Sawgrass sublimation printer in many of our videos but do a comparison in this one: ruclips.net/video/9C_RJr6lzoE/видео.html 😊
Why do you need to use the laminate paper when submitting onto canvas?
The canvas is a cotton base, so you would not be able to sublimate to it without the laminate.
i'm wanting to do a qr code for wifi at our business, on a little flat canvas, but the sheets i have are glossy and im afraid it'll have issues with the glare and scanning. has anyone tried this?
i dont want to buy 60.00 matte just for this!
---Becky
@@DesignBundles thanks for your reply. I went ahead and purchased the pouches. I couldn't find thermal sheets at that time.
My canvas keeps warping when I put laminate on it.
How do you stop the canvas board from warping
It sounds like there may be too much pressure. - Brittany
