Sublimation on acrylic is my favorite way to showcase illustrations and photos on keychains, nightlights, and photo panels! You don’t even need to buy acrylic with a sublimation coating or use a spray to add one! The detail and color possible with sublimation printing is hard to beat for home crafters and small businesses. But combining it with acrylic pieces really makes your work stand out! There are some special tips and tricks to acrylic sublimation blanks (did you know you can control their shape? SO cool!) so let me show you what I’ve learned!

I work often with the light bases. If your acrylic is too thin (it usually is if it's small enough to be etched with the cricut), just put a couple foam dots on the bottom part that goes into the light. It works perfectly and doesn't interfere with displaying.

Yes, acrylic is made of sublimation-compatible polymers. Some acrylic blanks have a white surface to give your image an opaque background, but I also like the clear acrylic, as long as the design doesn't heavily rely on white! jennifermaker.com/sublimation-on-acrylic/

Thanks. Was struggling with the correvt heating settings. Tried the 182C for 60secs , it worked perfectly. The pic peeled of easily with no white residue😮

Excellent Video! Do you need to cover 100% of the Acrylic with your graphic or can you have some areas that are transparent? For example, can you just use the outline of a person without a colored background?

Can i put glitter HTV on acrylic and then sublimate on top of that? i love the glittery look it gives on shirts so i didn't know if that was possible here.

Can we sublimate on regular white cast acrylic like what we use in the glowforge or does it have to be specific cast acrylic?
Technically any cast acrylic will sublimate.
I love Becky too, but i don't think she's at Design Bundles anymore. I think she's now with Creative Fabrica.

The curved acrylic is very cool... however Conde is way overcharging for the blanks and the jig. They need to make it more affordable for everyone. I'm looking for an alternative that gives as good results but less expensive. ONE 11x14 panel is over $20!!!! That's insane.

@@JenniferMaker I don't think the keychains or the nightlights have any type of sublimation coating on them. Her links to the Amazon products are not listed as specifically for sublimation. However i think her photo frame is because she says it has a sublimation coating. So I think it's safe to use any acrylic blank. Jennifer would be the best to confirm this however. I'm curious too.

I’ve been trying the nightlights on cast acrylic blanks and they have cloudy spots and look like they maybe melted a little? Too hot? I use the instructions in your cookbook.

No, a household iron doesn't get hot enough to sublimate. 😊🌻

Hi. I was noticing on the acrylic blanks/keychains that once water is added to clean the remaining stuff off that the remaining pic doesn't seem like it is a bright. Is that the case? If so, how can I prevent that from happening (do you have another video on it)? I have zero experience and still haven't bought a press, lol. Just trying to decide if this is something I want to give a shot at. I had a horrible experience with an Etsy seller and no Christmas ornaments for my family; so I figure at this point I could give it a shot myself.
Use Clear Sublimation film and you wont have fuss with Scrubbing paper residue.

I don't know if I am missing something. I have rewatched the video 3 times. My acrylic night lights are lighting up like yours. I did the moon which I just love it. It didn't light up. I did another design with flowers and it will not light up. Any insight would be helpful. This is the acrylic I am using, Acrylic Sheet Clear Cast for LED Light Base, 0.08 Inch/ 2 mm.

So I noticed a lot of videos like this give pretty cool tips to make some pretty cool things but there is a safety factor. Even with windows open and a fan how do we know if the fumes of the acrylic and the fumes from the ink aren't making an unsafe vapor

I did a sublimation on an acrylic key chain blank and it left a white film, like the sublimation paper didn't completely come off. I couldn't get it to come off. Do you need to use special kind of acrylic blanks? I saw another tutorial that said you had to use cast acrylic blanks for sublimation. Any help would be appreciated. I'm very new to sublimation. I finally was able to make the beautiful moon nightlight, but the design wasn't as bright as I hoped so it doesn't show up very much unless it's against a white background. Any suggestions about what I might have done wrong? Also, I tried making the keychains with a design that didn't fill the whole blank and I can see the outline of what I cut out to sublimate it. Any suggestions on what I might have done wrong?

I used those settings for the heat press and the one side (tried various other suggested heat settings as well) comes out white cloudy and rough. Anyone else have this issue?

Everybody is using "butcher paper", so I found some brown, at the store, and used it on an iron-on heat transfer design. I'd done the center, and wanted to add text. The paper stuck to the center design, and by the time I got most of it off, the red in (inkjet) had bled, and ruined the shirt. Is there a difference in the white butcher paper and the brown? Thanks! I am SO wanting to do sublimation, but can't afford the supplies.
White butcher paper is similar, but has undergone a process to bleach the brown color from the pulp. I use the white.

@@JenniferMaker Thank you! I picked up an acrylic pencil holder based on that but read somewhere it will melt if it doesn't say sublimation. I was going to try it in the tumbler press.
After sublimation, surface of acylic isn't smooth and clear, some part is hazed - some part is scabrous. Is it normal?

So all the blades and housings from the maker don’t necessarily work well on the venture
You can use the deep cut blade, foil tool and the bonded fabric blade.
Are the acrylic sublimation specific, or just regular acrylic
