  • HOW TO SUBLIMATE ON CANVAS WITH A LAMINATING SHEET
    Hello Cricuters!
I have to admit that no matter which printer I use, I will keep my current SUBLIMATION PRESET. I had to change the SUBLIMATION setting that I thought would work, and go back to my original setting in order to SUBLIMATE ON CANVAS WITH A LAMINATING SHEET.
I still didn't love the final result and I would definitely prefer to use the process of covering the canvas with POLYESTER fabric; however, this is another option. If you haven't seen my tutorial on how to SUBLIMATE ON CANVAS WITHOUT A LAMINATING SHEET, click here: • 💖How to Use Sublimatio...
Please follow along with me as I share my process for creating a SUBLIMATION PRESET for my new EPSON WF-7820 and share how to SUBLIMATE ON CANVAS WITH A LAMINATING SHEET.
⭐⭐⭐In order to complete this project, I used the following materials:⭐⭐⭐

Delonda. I agree with you. I did this just last night after seeing a video of someone posting it. I ordered the laminate, and it turned out the same as yours. I didn't care for my photo results either. I also used a smaller heat press too. I had the wrinkles, and i couldn't get them out. I might try again with my big press.
    Thank you for sharing.

I followed these steps using the flat canvases, my htv ront auto press at 385 and mine came out absolutely beautiful - SO- I think the problem was the heat press, because you didn't have the same pressure all over all at once (I hope that makes sense). I absolutely LOVE how mine turned out, and I wouldn't have tried it if I had not seen your video first! Thank you so much for all of your tutorials! They definitely help me put my cricut to use.

By now you have probably figured it out but options: 1) Remove the canvas from the boards since you do not have an even solid object in the hole. The fabric, when pressure is applied is going to seek the low point and pull towards the center, causing the side wrinkles because of the pull and then you can place it on the large heat press for even heat distribution and weight. 2) Cut a board that fits exactly in the hole, however you then may get lines at the point of placement all around as the heat is still not distributed evenly - you can just build one board to fit but that would still take you to "1)".

A friend of my wife just became an American citizen last week, legally sworn in after the 5 year waiting period or whatever the time is now. We sublimated on canvas the picture she sent of her holding an American flag on that day and even screen printed a t-shirt with a message on it. The canvas came out really nice. A proud moment for her, I am sure. Thanx for the videos and the ideas.

Delonda.. Girl you are amazing! I love the feeling that I get as though you are the gal next door. It is rare that people film their mess ups, and it was really nice that you are keeping it real. Thank you for posting what you did, the fact that you did not like it, and then changing things, showing us, and then liking your project. Stay amazing.

I tried it your way, but the photo did not adhere to the middle of the canvas, only to the outsides. I took off the canvas and am trying to do it flat.

LOL I do like how the one on the wall turned out better too. Thank you for sharing the not so great, I don't think hiding the oopsies help anyone, but seeing not so greats do help! We can go back and say oh yeah that happened to Delonda, how'd she fix it...or not. :D Keep up the good work!

Sorry I dont speak English very well but I thought It was the heat press... With the sublimation process is a fundamental that control the pressure time and temperature and with cricut type heat press is difficult to control the pressure. Maybe that's why the blank spot. Try to use the another heat press that have the pressure control knob. Excellent video... 👍

Maybe your heat press was too high when you pressed the laminating sheet to the canvas and that is what caused the wrinkles or maybe there was something wrong with that laminating sheet 🤷🏽‍♀️ . On a positive note, the color settings on the second picture was definitely more vibrant. I love that you decided to post this video even though the results were not what you wanted them to be. It is all a learning experience. I call it research and development 😊

Another YT video uses 1.5m which is half the typical thermal laminate. It embeds into the canvas better. Make sure to pre-press the canvas before applying laminate to release moisture. Leave enough laminate oversize to pull tightly around sides and laminate onto back surface over the staples. This seems to help eliminate the wrinkles. Even so, none of the results are particularly appealing in my opinion.

I can't wait to sub on metal again! I did a couple tags and loved it! I'd say the heat/pressure was a factor in the wrinkles in one for of another.. Have you tried the 9 - 7 - 15 -4 adobe 2.2 setting?

I’m curious what it is about canvas that we can’t sublimate on it. I attempted what you just did with laminate but it wrinkled (same as yours) except I pulled the laminate back off the canvas because I hated it. But it appeared to have left some laminating residue behind. I thought what the heck I’ll try to sublimate on the canvas with the residue and I was able to make it work. It’s not vibrant but it worked for me. Wish I could show a picture here.
