What a great plot element having the ju ju staff turn out to be the Staff of Moses and Solomon handed down to them from the followers of Basti in Egypt. Howard is a master at weaving historical elements into his fiction that makes it more intriguing.
If you'd like to hear how Solomon met N'Longa who gave hime the staff, check this... ruclips.net/video/2NksDUR7Sjk/видео.html And Howards weaving of fiction and history can be seen well here... ruclips.net/video/9G86WohAd_4/видео.html
When we look at The Robert E Howard stories we see it is early days, in terms of pure REH having thrown off the legacy of L Sprague de Camp. I have read and listened to REH for some years now and also seen some online pals set up sites (mainly putting out Librivox and various other audios-Including HPL and many other Pulp era authors, who are enjoying a resurgence) Anyway, the point is that you are putting out original material (It is always a joy to hear a new slant on a much-loved story-having exhausted all others) and it is early days and as with others their sites are now getting many more subs and hits and one day you will look back and remember the start (when you have many more subs and you are ahead in doing what you want in professional terms on as well as off the net etc). I will be bragging as well! ''Oh yeah, I've been with these guys from day one!'' (Hoho) The beauty of Audiobooks are for example; I run a small cottage industry and I can sit working on my crafts whilst listening to your plays/stories. So best wishes JC
A high quality audio good sir. I particularly liked the sounds used for Solomon's flintlock pistols, and the background chatter of the foreign peoples. I also liked the sound's used for the monster. Excellent work!
Great story. The audio needs a tweak, but that is down to your having moved studio and probabaly been stressed at not having put out any stuff for a bit, teething probs etc.-I know that the artist is his greatest whip. we are all very gratefull for the much needed new Robert E H material especially in Scots or dare I say Pictish! (much loved by REH). So I am looking forward and wish you guys the best in your new home, Thanks.
@@TheCybrarian Hey, your stuff is the best! (No one else is putting out REH + other) Maybe you should set up a voluntary fund, it is the way forward, artists of many descriptions are passionate about their work and there are people who are willing to help. Like I buy a book-I know it is a dillema I suppose-but...we as listeners have a choice, it aint like it is compulsory. ppl need support. I have donated to various sites that I like(Not huge amounts) and then going back to them I see they are doing well and expanding and more ppl are looking in and I am happy, I feel a part of it. Anyway... just listend to your cororuc story, excellent!! and am looking forward to your next release.Thanks.
I love this. This is my fifth (?) audiobook with y’all of Kane’s. Thank you for sharing your love for this material. I’m currently designing a table top RPG that, thanks to your channel, is a pulp fantasy game. You’ve helped me focus the game like a whetstone on a razor
FYI: just like in Hills of the Dead, this audiobook has certain words altered from the source material. Not sure if you did this intentionally or you're using a censored edition of the book.
We've had a check and it doesn't see to be happening on our end and no one else has spotted it. So we figure it is either... A)a child/famildy-friendly setting on RUclips that you should be able to switch off or B)a state/country setting based on the IP address you're logging in from (so a VPN or the like should be able to get rid of it)
@@TheCybrarian I doubt that. For example at the very begining of chapter 1 you are replacing "BLACK woman" with "NATIVE woman". I don't think this is due to my RUclips settings or IP location.
@@GioTummy3463 you're correct, we checked, our version was collected from guttenberg press public domain which should be the original version, but in this instance it seems not (we did check 'hills of the dead' and it used black several times, very odd) *massive eyeroll*, apologies, we shall see what we can do about this
@@TheCybrarian I have a screenshot of chapter 1 with captions where you say NATIVE GIRL instead of BLACK GIRL. And that's just 1 of many examples. I thought you needed to know just in case. I assume you-just like the rest of us Robert E. Howard's fans-would want to stay true to the source material 👍
we have had similar requests before and are working on stripped down version with the loud foley and music and shouting all removed or toned down to help our insomniac fans
Makes no sense to praize the story, one of my most favorite. In particular for the reference to the magical rod of "Suleiman ibn Daud".The reading is wonderful... Sorry for politics. my Afro-American brothers and sisters and Muslim brothers and sisters in general, but practically all African slaves were delivered to the ocean shores by Arab slave-hunters and sold to the white slavers waitng for the delivery. And of 12 million African slaves transported across the Atlantic during 2 centuries of the trans-Atllantic slave trade only half a million arrived in the 13 North American colonies of the United Kingdom. The rest ended up in Spanish and Portuguese colonies. Just look at the racial composition of the population of Brazil where slavery was abolished only in 1888.
We're actually in production of the prequel to this story, 'Red Shadows', look out for it in the next couple of days, but in the meantime, here's a sample of chapter 1... ruclips.net/video/AxGuW44p3c4/видео.html
Regarding your disclaimer of any offensive material...the most self-centered, unenlightened and disrespectful of humanity nowadays are those who insist upon imposing standards of the present on those in the past. And not just the general moral worldview of mankind, but the morals and ideologies of that particular individual who believes their own halfbaked unreflective assertions are better than the traditions of our ancestors which were there for a reason
And so I ask, why can't people just enjoy literature so you don't have to write out what we all already presume about you: you don't believe in bigoted behaviors, ideas, and do believe in treating each and every human with the same civility
This was so based
Absolutely fantastic
And thus like that, I am hooked on Solomon Kane!
Solomon kane is quickly becoming my favourite of Howard's characters. Thank you.
Touching into the realm of God and Solomon, son of King David..and King of Kings Jesus loved it , maybe a follow up ? 👍
we have about 5 more Solomon Kane stories on our mature fiction playlist...

Yeah. It's genuinely amazing. And he writes Kane and Conan in such a way as to imply a bigger world beyond than what is mentioned.
Thank you for taking your time to read through this, and to make this video
I hope you do more Solomon Kane stories as time goes on.
We are planning on more Bran and Kull and Solomon stories (as well as Conan), thank you.

The way Howard wrote about the staff being from eons past gave me chills.
yeah, we love the staff, we also did the story where he first gets it...

Ah, Solomon Jane... Whose costume was shamelessly ripped off for the Van Helsing movie. Another outstanding reading! ⚔️
It really was big hat puritan outfit yup.

Like... The story's a most vicious attack at the Arab-African friendship and solidarity against the Anglo-Saxon imperialist colonialism.
Ok....
