Dark Moon was a big deal for me, it came out when i was 15 and i absolutely loved it. I still love it today and it may be my favorite in the series. Needless to say im really happy to see it coming to switch all cleaned up. On the other hand i have a soft spot for the 3ds graphaics lol, its one of the best looking 3ds games and on a small 3ds screen it looks really good to this day.
I mean, it was handled well for its time but does look real rough round the edges now, I'm totally thrilled for this re-Master. For me, this will by far be it's definitive version especially since I never really played it properly the 1st time round as I was baffled as to why they did not release it on the Wii. Ah well, they've totally fixed that now! 🎉
If they also remaster luigi's mansion 1 3DS than we'll have the entire trilogy on switch.I hope they remaster all the best 3DS games and put them on switch like The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3DS
I can certainly see Luigi's Mansion 1 getting the Pikmin treatment, which I'd be happy with. 2 getting a remaster that looks a lot better than before but still not as good as 3 would give us a nice visual progression across the trilogy if we get all 3. We currently don't have that with the 3DS being less powerful than the Gamecube, so Luigi's Mansion 2 is a bit of a visual downgrade from the first.
A conspiracy theory i have is that this HD remaster CAN look as good as the third game, at least a bit on par with it Remember back in 2018 when the third game was first announced? It looked like a Wii U reject with the graphics looking like how they do for this reveal Even the model for Luigi looks like the Prototype Model for Luigi's Mansion 3 And it's coming in 2024 so they could polish it up before release just like the third game
Do people know what an upscale is? It's when you take a low resolution and stretch it to fit a bigger screen so the graphics themselves don't look any different and it looks just as blurry but easier to see nonetheless because of its increased screen size. This game is a remaster since they are remaking it from scratch and the teaser still in its earlier development as you can see from the lines and broken textures when Luigi is entering the mansion in 0:24 (I'm not talking about the tree roots but those are also still have that pre-finished game render look) and the carpet in 0:43 at the top of the stairs that is supposed to lead into the crack and not cut off from the rest of the carpet. (6:10) This carpet was actually meant to appear in the next mission so it doesn't get in the way of catching the greenie ghost, this detail is small but I'm pretty sure that detail that they added was an accident. The rails under the toilet add depth to the floor but now it doesn't make any sense about how it turns, it used to be a mystery that added allure using the darkness but now its just funnily questionable... My wish for this game is that they remaster it and make sure to keep things they keep are apart of the games style and not to mistake it for the 3ds's bad graphics and r- moving or adding things since this game's style and mysterious allure meant everything to me when I was a kid, I'm just hoping that another kid can enjoy the specific style of this game over the others.
Ok hold it we’ve been down this path before, remember, Luigi’s Mansion 3 didn’t look all that great when it’s first trailer dropped in 2018 vs that E3 when it looked so much better, yeah I think this’ll be the same case
Great video! Only thing I have to clarify is that the carpet in the bathroom does exist in the 3ds version, Chugga just sucked it up with the vacuum immediately upon entering the room.
Hm, not too hot on yet another side-Scroller with the token polish job even if it may be Metroid. And charging anything over $30 if they did do it would be so much extra shade. Dark Moon though, totally different gravy; this was _much_ needed and looks fantastic! The fact its a proper 3D game mean the visuals have so much more pop to them.
There was so much model and texture work done to the 3DS version of Luigi's Mansion 1 to liven it up on the 3DS, I'm honestly shocked they didn't start with it. I hope this is a new trend, with 3DS officially offline it gives Nintendo so much incentive to start porting titles over.
hopefully one title i wish to see on switch or potential switch 2 is Tomodachi Life, we have Miitopia, now we just need tomodachi life as there was always a feature in 3DS miitopia to port tomodachi life mii's to miitopia
Also I just want to note that the carpet was always there in the bathroom in the original, the reason why it isn’t there is because you can get rid of it with the poltergust 5000
Dark Moon was my first game on 3DS and I absolutely adore it. Can’t wait to experience it again!! I wonder what’s gonna happen with ScareScraper. I was so happy to see the spider noises from the spider boss in the gloomy manor be included in Luigi’s Mansion 3
I can't imagine Next Level Games are working on this enhanced port it must be someone like Grezzo and Next Level are working on Luigis Mansion 4 for the next gen console

We're basically getting a complete HD re-Master! 🎉 Hope they don't charge full dollar for it but if they continue with faithfully porting 3DS titles over that's fantastic and further proof Switch 2 will be Backwards-compatible. I'm not getting my hopes too high but re-doing Spirit Tracks in this way would be a fitting tribute to the 3DS. DragonQuest 8 etc, there's so much potential.
What I'm excited for is Old Clockworks, my favorite place in the game. I can't wait to see, like, every individual grain of sand, and actually SEE the weathering on the bricks.
I just hope the framerate gets fixed, because it looks as bad as it did in the og game in certain shots. Also fixing some of the animations to look smoother would be nice too I'm pretty sure it's still early in development since it looked a bit rough, but if LM3 turned out really good, I bet this one will look good too
Considering the fact that Luigi's mansion 3 had amazing lighting and textures and ran 1080p 30 fps on docked, Luigi's mansion 2 docked should be able to pull off at least 1080p 60 fps and 720p 60 or 720p 30 handheld depending on how fast it drains the battery.
I wish they made a better version of the original Luigi's mansion 2 model instead of using the model from the 3rd game with different textures. That original model has charm that no future Luigi model managed to capture. Also, come on. How did you forget the carpet was in the original game? You pull it off to reveal that grate thing.
I’m super excited for the switch cause I love dark moon but my one problem with it is that the ghost in the shower at 7:36 is not transparent like the original cause in the original you could see the water through the ghost but not in the remaster
@RhythmGrizz Probably because I work 12 hour shifts everyday, and cannot be stuck to my switch all the time. A head chef's job requires attention to the job more than anything.🤦🏿♂️
Luigi’s Mansion is getting the Pikmin treatment, Dark Moon is presumably easier to port and upgrade visuals first so Nintendo can see how much public interest there is in the Trilogy before spending longer on the original
Did you even play Luigi's mansion 2??????? Of course it looks blurry....especially with its a low quality photo and stretched out! Also there is a rug in the shower location, where ever you got that photo the player already sucked it in their vaccum. When you actually play the game on a actual 3ds the graphics are sharp and you are able to see the details and background paintings and other environments. Please do actual research before doing videos like this before misleading people with false info.
I'm not loving the lighting shaders on the models though, it feels very generic and has a "made with Unity Engine" vibe. Hopefully they polish it bc right now it's a bit jarring
I wish they included the original with this. This doesn’t really seem worth it and I completely disagree with you. It doesn’t really look at that significant. It looks mostly the same This just kind of was a disappointing announcement. Why remake dark moon if you’re not gonna include the original

Well it has not been called a “remaster” or “definitive edition” by Nintendo, just a visual enhancement. So I agree its not big budget project, but its still a very noticeable improvement over its original imo.
dark moon is the weakest in luigi's mansion franchise. it's unengaging because of the mission based gameplay wherein you have to redo alot of exploration. hope Nintendo would fix that. also in-game instructions are annoying.
