A typical streetfighting game which spawned the popular Streets of Rage trilogy. This game is rumored to have used the same engine as Golden Axe, which is why the A button summons magic (sort of) to damage all enemies on screen, instead of doing some sort of roundhouse, like almost all other beat'em ups.
Completed on the hardest difficulty.
Compared to the previous movie (tasvideos.org/..., this is over 10 minutes faster. Primarily due to the use of 2-players and a glitch that skips most of the last level.

Just like in real life, 2 people that have been together forever, go out for the night, and end up making a scene.
Hate it when that happens. I go for a night out, one thing leads to another and then before I know it I brought down a crime lord.
This is more Mr and Mrs Smith action than we got with Brad n Angelina.

These two got angry at each other, so they decided to take their anger out on a crime organization; in the end, Mr. X knew he couldn't win and committed suicide and their relationship improved

I have this on my Playstation. The first time coming back to it since my teenage years; I was like "holy crap this is harder than I remember it being"
you dont have this on your playstation. at least not ps1. Sega was Sony's rival in ps1 era and they would NOT make their games to be available on ps1.

This is a tool assisted run (or TAS for short), basically a program that runs very precise inputs to achieve perfect execution, that usually are beyond human skills. Not RT play.
I remember having this game on a 6-pak Sega Genesis cartridge that came with Sonic 1, Revenge of the Shinobi 3, Columns, Super Hang On, and Golden Axe. I made the mistake of lending it to my cousin and they claim to have lost it. 😒

@@bxyhxyh There's actually some segments in SoR1 that runs in 60 FPS. It just appears the game goes at half speed once the gameplay starts (See 9:35 and look at the background)

So many goddamn sprites onscreen at once. Could anyone count how many there were at 3:05 (Assuming there was 8x8, 16x16, and 16x32 sprite sizes, and yes, I am including the wind effect and the barrels and 1-ups)

It must be a Stage Clear glitch, Axel just let enemies hit him to death and Blaze stayed freeze in an attack position
@@AnitaDaOk Axel respawns, but Blaze appears on top of Axel when she tries to vault over a grabbed character. Normally this would cause her to go OoB and be instakilled, but this stage works differently for some reason. It's almost certainly related to the Mr X speech.

Was also thinking perhaps to reduce the time spend on the end of stage bonus tallying (although second glance, it looks like this gets skipped).
The tallying reduction---I'm guessing this is also why there was all the intentional suicides in round 7?
Enemies don't appear immediately and there's also a wait after each wave before GO appears, gotta fill in with something.
Except all the deaths in round 7, that's to reduce the bonus at the end since the last round's score tally is unskippable but you still need to enter your name afterwards.
For entertainment purposes mostly. Most of the RNG manipulation is done via the twitchy movements when enemies are offscreen or when either character walks away from enemies, because the AI has a habit of being tentative when being aggressively approached, but charges at you when your back is turned.

What happened to Round 8? They cleared it without fighting
It’s a glitch that causes a character to go out of bounds, so the game tries to put them back in bounds but it sends them all the way to the end of the stage and triggers the stage completion
