Streets of Rage 2 is an excellent Beat-'Em-Up game with an extraordinary soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima. This run is played with Max and Skate on Mania difficulty.
The author, Sonikkustar (tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/S..., has discovered some new glitches and used 2 players to improve 04:56.97 over the previous run (tasvideos.org/1402M).

I've been playing this game since it first came out, and I have to say this was very satisfying to watch lol
I believe devs are fan of Berserk. At 16:20 you can see Caska and Gust(Guts) and around 18:39 there is enemy called griphis aswell. Not to mention Max looks like Guts aswell
There's also a few Fist of the North Star references, such as Souther.
Soundtrack was composed by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro, who invented EDM like Techno and House

That's often a big trick in beat em ups with 2 player support, the TAS will have both player character attack and do damage as fast as possible.
I think in SoR2 it's a hit per frame.
this must be old, or i just never seen sonnikustar worked on this before. I know I have seen him running games a lot and loved it. Hope stuff is going fine, he's been super chill.
He might have mentioned this some time ago and said it as a surprise over Ristar or something. Either way, Cool to see this. ^^
Looks like just a re-encode of the 2012 TAS. It's good to show these off though.

It's definitely a fun beat em up...Very comparable to Final Fight, just a bit faster.

Seriously, though. Max Thunder is over-dang-powered.
He’s a “slow but strong” character with emphasis on “strong”, making him ironically the speedrunning choice for Street of Rage 2.
It is why he was removed in SOF 3. He was too OP

@@greensun1334 after played the old series with my kid, we played the new sor4 now, and she asked to play with this "original" theme music 😅 can't argue with that.
kudos to the sor4 dev to include these legendary music in the play. now the memory will continue 😁

Complete and utter ripoff of Final Fight, but still so much fun to play. I got this game as part of the Sega Genesis bundle deal in 1993.
