    Is it just me or is the gaming scene kinda lacking these days? Here I am, watching a video about a game that came out two years ago because there’s nothing “epic” in the marketplace and hasn’t been for awhile now. Might just have to boot up Skyrim again.

      That's what I keep saying, gaming is in such a huge ass. Like since Cyberpunk gaming keeps failing, it's not funny anymore first it was Cyberpunk, then BF2042, then CoD Vanguard, then Callisto Protocol, then MWII and now Warzone 2.0 and next CoD that is MWIII(part 1) is already doomed to be another failure. Like come in AAA, give us a good game. My current hopes are in GTAVI and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2

      Thank you! I really debate buying games that take an eternity since ever since graduating high school, and especially now in college, I have ZERO time to play anything. I have to heavily consider what I can play, and what I can finish. Summer just started and I finished the first game in my list, Ghost of Tsushima, and I would love to play this game before the summer ends but I am afraid if I start it (just like Oddessy) the world and content will be so massive it’s unrealistic to beat it playing it normally

    It was an amazing Vikings game, the best one ever. Not sure why people keep complaining about it. The content is endless. And it looks beautiful. What’s not to love? @@piotrmontgomerytv7786I mean, Origins at least felt more like an Assassin's Creed title. It may have been an RPG, but it wasn't as bloated as the games after it. And it's style, story, and characters made it feel more like AC. The whole selling point was about how the Brotherhood started. Plus, the first game was in the Middle East, so Egypt is a close enough atmosphere.

    • @xKarenWalkerx
      @xKarenWalkerx Год назад +6

      I agree. It's an amazing Viking game. When I think of the Middle East though I like more Prince of Persia, as in I'd like there to be more story line and a bit more linear. So Mirage I'll be open but very hesitant (at least at first). I'm a weird one where I'd get this game (Valhalla) and then get the new Prince or Persia game on switch instead of the next AC Mirage lol....to be completely honest games like Van Helsing and more on Xbox I liked the Northern Europe scenery and explorative. And games like Aladdin were set in Middle East and more linear. So maybe that's what set my brain up for both ways. I also have descent in both so it's cool to go back in time like that. Valhalla was really accurate to the period in time in Europe...looking to see what they'll do with Mirage...

    Here’s my take on assassin’s creed Valhalla if anyone could care to read enough it’s a really good game in my opinion almost every single part of the game is screenshot worthy it’s absolutely gorgeous. The combat is fun the stories entertaining and once again, it is a absolutely gorgeous, open world, but that’s what it does and it does that perfectly. In my opinion it is a really good Viking game but you slap assassin’s creed in front of that and it sucks when I bought assassin’s creed Valhalla I expected to play a kick ass, assassin’s creed game set an a Viking time, but I ended up playing a kick ass Viking game and completely forgot I was playing a assassin‘s creed game. I feel like if they re-branded this game as Ubisofts Valhalla. Instead of assassins, Creed Valhalla, it would work a lot better because it truly is a stunning and very fun game but it’s a very fun Viking game not a fun assassin’s creed game.

    See my personal opinion on this game is this, it's not a assassin's creed game, it's a viking open world game with assassin mechanics. I'm actually more drawn towards the visual aspect of the game and the views and enjoying the snow and atmosphere of being a viking more than playing the game. You have to take this game with a extremely slow approach and sort of kick back and just enjoy the scenery sort of game. Yes there is action and story but the overwhelming amount of space in this game sort of forces you to just slow down or to stop playing which isn't what assassin's creed is about. My review out of 10 is a solid 6. It's a good viking open world game but not a good addition to assassin's creed storyline. Would i buy it? As a assassin's creed game no, as a viking rpg game yes. Its sort of backwards and it sometimes grinds my gears even while playing this game.

    I agree wholeheartedly. The best gaming experiences I've had, were when I went into games blind without having any idea of what they would bring. Bloodborne was one of those for me. It was my first soulsborne, and I had no clue what I got myself into. All the pre-release breakdowns and showcases just takes away from that freshness. Then tuck on all of the markers and map icons... I'm out before I even got started. In witcher 3 I disabled all markers besides main quest and that made the game infinitely better. I wasn't just checking off a list, but actually went into the world to explore it. This is something the devs have to learn. We don't need handholding. We can figure things out on our own. Much like in Morrowind where you had to pick up a note after someone fell from the sky... only to find clues where you had to discover landmarks and explore to continue the quest. This has has been lost in the new design, and it saddens me.

    I thought Eivor's male voice actor was great, being a little softer and more thoughtful than you would expect from a viking. I also liked how they turned each region into a story arc, making it easy to pick up and play for a while without losing the whole story thread if you put the game down for a while. In any case, I mainly play AC games to be transported back in time anyway.

    My biggest complain is that exploration is simply not rewarding. In Origins and Odyssey - hate the loot as much as you want - but at least there was reward for exploration was pretty much always a cool weapon or piece of armor waiting for you. Fighting enemies also had a chance to drop loot so combat was equaly rewarding.
    In Valhalla... You go into some cool location, explore the sh*t out of it just to find... 1 piece of some upgrate material and that's pretty much it.
    I get that some folks complain about the amount of loot in Odyssey but Origins, IMO, had the right balance.

    What do you know? I 'picked up' the game thanks to Ubisoft making it free for the weekend of August 11-14th.
    I went in with somewhat of a 'negative' perspective/not expecting too much of it after watching some reviews since it came out, and I actually found myself really enjoying it.
    As I'm writing this comment, I'm debating whether I should buy the base game or not (just the vanilla, I don't really do DLCs)
    It's currently on sale for 15 USD (around 22 for me due to currency exchange) and I'm, like, 60/40 in favor of doing it
    I was only able to make it to around 43% of the main campaign.
    It is nothing to write home about and I personally enjoyed the God of War: Ragnarok reimagining of the Norse Mythology way more.
    Granted, I no longer see the RPG saga as "Assassin's Creed" games but as a simple "Ubisoft turn-your-brain-off RPGs".
    With that mindset, I fairly enjoyed the Viking power fantasy.
    Yes, it is _as_ if not even _more_ bloated than Odyssey and Origins, but I kinda liked it.

    it blows my mind that they still bother doing the modern day story in assasins creed. It just takes me completely out of it.
    It was cool in the very first game to me because i was like 10 years old and it was essentially a story gimmick yet theyve stuck with it all these years. Literally every single person ive spoken to about the IP, have all agreed that they should just remove it and focus 100% on the historical settings.

      @Soot_38 Год назад +2

      Doing that would remove the entire incentive of the series. The story of each game would be completely changed and for the worse. The whole point is to go into the animus and retrieve information of the pieces of eden through those memories to save the modern world from those who wish to use that power for unjust reasons.
      it's died off and took a path that isn't so engaging or interesting so I see the hate towards, but again without the modern-day story there would be no story.

    • @mrsswindon
      @mrsswindon Год назад +1

      @@Soot_38 how? the incentive is ultimaitely just about being an assassin in different periods of history. The whole sotry about the ancient aliens or whatever is just objectively a trash story. Literally not a single person plays the AC games for the modern day plot lol.

    • @Soot_38
      @Soot_38 Год назад +4

      @@mrsswindon how? I just explained it.
      You would know this as well if you played the games.
      Without the modern story we would have no reason to be going into the animus. They lay it out very clearly as to why you’re an assassin. And definitely not saying that people would only play them for the modern story. Like I said I understand the hate. Its not the most well done story, but without it there would be no assassin’s creed.
      Yes you’re an assassin a majority of the time but there’s a reason as to why. Again the incentive is finding the pieces of Eden through the simulated memories of specific blood lines that have come into contact with those pieces and know where they are hidden so those in the modern day Brotherhood can find them and keep them safe. This is the plot of the entire series.
      So please tell how they would rewrite every single game and make it better in your eyes if they removed the actual plot?

    Tl;dr: In my heart of hearts I want to love and and adore AC Valhalla, but it goes on for way too long without giving anything meaningful.
    I started the series with Black Flag, so my view was always that this is a series, that lets you experience historically interesting lifestyles with added assassin shenanigans. As such playing a mercenary in Odyssey was very fun for me. The different places felt very distinct, but culturally coherent. England in Valhalla felt like the same 3 towns with 2 variations of ruins and a whole lot of fluff. And I'm saying that as someone who should love what Valhalla gives and be at best indifferent towards ancient greece. As a fan of the whole viking wibe, the making friends all across england story should have been great. Exploring england on horse, sailing up river and raiding monasteries, sneaking around towns and halving their numbers before an assault, blending in with the cape, playing dice and drinking should have been the most fun I have ever had in a game. And it was for like 30 hours. Then it went on for 60 more, I got a unicorn bear that has a rainbow trail, somehow one of my raider dudes I got from another player turned out to be a Final Fantasy character and I was nowhere near the end of the story.

    People/gamers(especially old school ones) can't understand one thing about Assassin's creed ''RPG trilogy'. It's impossible to make a game, a movie EVERYTHING IN LIFE just they way it was.
    ASSASSIN'S CREED VALHALLA:
    HIDDEN BLADE✅
    ASSASSIN BASIC COSTUME AND MULTIPLE OG ASSASSIN COSTUMES WITH NO LEVELS✅
    THE BEST PARKOUR IN SO MANY YEARS IN THE FRANCHISE(ALMOST THE SAME WITH SYNDICATE)✅
    OTHER ASSASSINS IN THE GAME✅
    REALLY NICE STEALTH SYSTEM✅
    What else do you want in order for this game to be an ''AC GAME''? Literally re- release the first Assassin's creeds? You people are so obssesed with the first AC games that will mind an upgrade just because it isn't in the og ac's. That's nearly unhealthy. Grow up, accept that gaming is evolving in all terms and then you will really enjoy the new assassin's creed games. Ubi milked the crap out of Ezio and Altair just for the fans to be happy. There is nothing more to do with the old ac world. The franchise is moving on and on. You people don't. Stick with 1,5 century old games

I play it for an hour or two every other day, and usually after playing other games, atm the Dark Souls series as I work towards a reroll in Elden Ring. In that context its like a palette cleanser from the sweaty play they bring, to a much more basic yet enjoyable combat system and friendlier world to explore with an awesome aesthetic, music, and varied things to do, while as others have called out its essentially a Vikings the show simulator and if that's your itch, this game will definitely scratch it. I just feel its better consumed in short bites, and to binge on it will inevitability make one sick, hence a lot of backlash at release. THALLL!!!!

    Don't kid yourselves people, Mirage is NOT going back to its roots. We'll never see another game like the classics. AC wouldn't be in the state it is if they hadn't released Unity in an unfinished state back in the day. That alone is the reason we now have to deal with games that have the AC stamp on them without having anything like the originals in them. If Unity was released in a finished state without the atrocious bugs then I'm willing to bet Syndicate wouod have gotten the better reception it deserved and we probably would have gotten more great games like Unity and Syndicate instead of open world repetitive action games claiming to be rpgs while not being anything like an actual action rpg. Loot and poorly implemented pointless skill trees DO NOT make an rpg. Although the fighting mechanics are fun in the "rpg" ac games for a little while, and the graphics are pretty, they are not good games overall. Its sad, AC was an original singlular gameplay experience that now has an identity crisis because it doesn't know if it wants to be Shadow of Mordor or the Witcher 3 or both with the AC logo on the box. Funny how Ubisoft didn't realize they had a original great franchise that everyone else wish they had created just to try and copy some other games and doing a piss poor job at copying them too I might add. R.I.P. AC.

At least in Origins, the side activities kept you engaged, unlike the stupid baseball type reference in Valhalla, and dam flying papers. I don't mind the RPG style AC games. In fact my first game was Odyssey and I liked it so much I bought the entire series. Also a lot of the voice acting in Valhalla was sub par. I'm ok with change, but most of the change in Valhalla was just unnecessary. It's not a bad game, but it certainly isn't a great game.

    Its an amazing game, it only gets hate because its an AC title that doesnt play like the original games and i understand that, but at the end of the day its great for what it is

    Good game, really enjoyed it the first 20 hours, but half way through it just got tedious. Same "go to this region and capture it" the side quests were more entertaining. Main quest was a chore

    If you’re really craving the og AC games just play the old games, don’t treat this as a stealth game if you find it hard, although it’s possible, and if you think the game is dumb just increase he difficulty, I really like this game one of the best purchases I made, don’t listen to random reviewers, if it wasn’t for difference of choice shops will collapse

    Hot take but my point of view of when assassin's creed was about assassin and stealt and bland whed crowds was in 360 and ps3 era the last unity and cyndicate was ok but the last 3 was more focus on hack and slash my opinion

      They are just hack and slash games using the AC brand to help sell. Assassins Creed died. The Ezio trilogy was pure gold.

    Black Flag to me, was the best overall of the series, based on the stealth play and most of all, the naval battles. Odyssey, however, has had the most engaging story and dialogue of almost any game I've ever played. AC really needs to go back to the stealth mindset rather than the "one man army" gameplay. Maybe an AC: Ronin? AC:Ninja or Shinobi? The fight mechanics need to change from button mashing to something more involved, like the first in the Batman Arkham series, or better yet, Sifu. Just don't skim on the story and dialogue!! Oh and Ubisoft, in case you read this, we don't really care about the animus. We know that you're based in Quebec and Jean-Dominique loves his coffee; it just doesn't advance the story. Also.. to ALL game developers: please eliminate cutscenes that last 10 minutes that we can't skip through simply to "press x" to salute, open door, pour drink, etc. it's boring and takes away our interaction and interest.
