How To Dye Black Hair to Brown (without bleaching) - very light ash blonde | Emily

- To clarify.. When I mean without bleaching, I mean without having to bleach your hair first and then having to dye your hair a brown colour. So this basically skips the bleaching step. Therefore it is without bleaching.

hey guys!
in this video im just showing you how i dyed my black hair brown!
i have finally found the right dye to do this, i have brought so many dyes before and done a strand test on my hair and it would always turn out as black still.
before you dye your hair it is recommended that you do a patch test 48 hours before you dye your hair
_________________________
the dye: L'Oreal Paris recital preference - 10.1 Helsinki very light ash blonde
this good thing bout ash dyes, they don't have any orange or red tones to it so at the end result i know that my hair will not turn ginger!

the box dye contains:
- the colorant gel
-developer creme
-high shine conditioner
-high shine elixir
-gloves
-instructions

tips
-before you dye your hair you need to wear a shirt which you don't mind getting dirty because the dye will stain your clothing!
- it is also helpful if you dye your hair with unwashed greasy hair because this helps the dye stick on better
- a week before dying your hair, use a deep conditioner: this will help prep your hair with the damage of the dye
- it is important that when you are dying your hair that you don't have any product residue on it (e.g. hairspray/mouse): the product residue will act as a dye barrier and it will not dye those parts of your hair with the product on it, this will leave your hair patchy!
-on your hair line: put Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on it because this is the part of your skin where the dye is easily stainable and the Vaseline is waterproof which helps the dye come off easier
-don't wear any jewellery as the dye will damage it
_________________________
the process:
1. mix the colourant gel and the developer creme and the high shine elixir together
2. section out hair so that it is easier for you to distribute the product evenly
3.add dye to hair starting from the roots
4.do this to the rest of your hair
5.add the leftover dye to your hair and massage it thoroughly
6.wrap a plastic bag or a shower cap around your hair and wait for the recommended 30 minutes
wrapping/covering your hair with a plastic bag will trap the heat from your head as dye works best with heat, also it also helps the dye from not drying out. once the dye is dried out the dying process stops working
FAQ
Was my hair virgin black?
my natural hair colour is black. the hair colour you see in the start of the video is my natural hair colour. however months before this video i tried dying my hair with a brown dye and nothing happened. there was no colour change at all. so technically my hair in this video is not 100% virgin black. But since that was months before filming this video, my roots are virgin black hair.
Is the dye permanent?
Yes! but i have seen fading in the colour.
How many boxes did you use?
i used 2 boxes, but i didn't use all of the dye in the second bottle.
How long does it last?
It's permenant, but it does fade. i cant remember when i started to see fading but if you wish to see the process of my hair colour you can see the videos that i did after this video which shows you my hair colour and the way its faded.
i have not changed my hair colour till today so you can even see my latest video and see what the hair colour looks now, but you will also see my roots growing out as well.. ahhhhh
You look like mulan
(AHAHAHAH) i know.
thanks for watching!

This is going to sound weird but my cat is so interested in this video, he is just sitting in front of the screen watching. It's weird
Monica Moniker maybe it was the song?

Ur cat's name is Ginger I guess
time to do this out of quarantine boredom!!
Zoe Brooke literally me rn
if u do it lmk how it goes !!
But shops closed....:((((((*
I did , I messed up , different color patches , won’t recommend lol
Un Known same I was so excitit for it and then it turned out all patchy n shit :((( I had to redye my hair black
I don't see anyone talking about if it works or not so here i will. It did work for me. I had jet black hair like hers and it went to a medium brown. I have colored my hair before but cut it all off and regret it so I don't know if that makes a differance. I was not able to get her exact dye but I got loreal paris superior preference 8A ash blonde cooler. ( I believe hers is only available in the UK ?) but that's my experience. It worked for me. Hope it helps someone out.
Thank you! I've been wanting to do this for a while, but I wasn't sure (:
thanks i was scrolling thru the comments for someone who tried this :'D
im afriad to do coz i have little grey hairs also with black
@@jswee5342 did you color over the dyed jet black with a blonde color to make it brown?? I recently dyed my hair black and want to try brown without having to wait or buy a color stripper, so I'm wondering if you were able to lighten your dyed hair with boxed dye.
Sadies yes I used jet black box dye, then after a few months used the blondest/lightest shade in garnier nutrisse and got a light caramel color, my hair is right now (did get colored since then) is half dark brown and bottom half is blonde highlights and I don’t want to cut my hair of so just yesterday I used garnier again but this time a regular caramel box color and got a caramel/light chocolate brown mix I want to go a few shades lighter so I might just use the blondest shade again it always works for me and I get the color I want and I get a really light caramel color
I did this a couple years ago, I got bored one day and used blonde dye to dye my naturally black hair. Turned into a really nice slightly brown colour.
Nice! I want to give it a try too. Did you retouch your roots with the same color ?
@@gmaricxafyi it’s your choice, isn’t it?
hi, 7 years later lol. but so is 5.0 hair dye too low to dye my hair dark brown? (ive got naturally black hair)
I have really dark brown hair but I want to dye like a dark blonde do you think it’ll show up on my hair?
I thought this wouldn’t work because you have to lighten the black first?
Why have I been spending $400 to get mine done at the salon then- that’s always what they told me that any colour won’t show because black has to be removed before any lighter colour will show???
a regular blonde dye will turn your hair ginger. typically, the majority of dyes called light ash blonde will work. the ash tones will cancel out the brassy colours.
Hey I want to dye my hair exactly the same like urs had but ig now it’s not available can suggest any alternative??🙃
and throughout the whole process her shirt never gets dirty
WHAT IS THIS MAGIC?!!!!???
Magic for sure. Any hair coloring will stain your cloth's. Hmmmmm.....makes you wonder if this is fake and someone else colored her hair....
+Sh Chuzzle it's ash blond it makes stains only on dark clothes ...:-D
seriously!!
KITTEN KITTEN she's a wizard harry
KITTEN KITTEN blond doesnt stain much
Thanks for the video. I have virgin black, Asian hair, but the ends of my hair are a coppery brown balayage color. I live in the US and couldn't find the exact color you used, but I found light ash blonde from L'Oréal from the same product line. I have thick hair, but it's half as long as your hair. I used one bottle of dye, and it turned out great! I left my hair dye on a little longer by 10 minutes and achieved the same results. the color is similar to how yours turned out. No bleaching or expensive salon visit. Just a box of dye that was $8.
Did this ever damage your hair? I see a lot of girls who dyed their hair in the past end up cutting it into a bob
What about hairfall?? Do the chemicals damage hair quality
@@noface3928 hair color is chemical based so it might make your hair a bit dry depending on the hair type but nothing that can't be undone with some after care.
The whole time I was watching I was scared that she would run out of solution
same hahaha
Sky Fly why is this me.
Same here HAHA
SAME! I even wondered how she got more, coz it seems that she is using too much.
Hahahha same
thats your greasy hair?! I WISH MY HAIR LOOKED LIKE THAT WHEN GREASY LOL

I have virgin black hair and I tried this but i left the dye on for about 45-55 minutes, it turned out exactly like yours :) thanks for the video!
i love how we have to sit here and watch her dye her hair, not cutting a single second
You can fucking skip?
Yes its not like you cant skip or anything
And after that I cut it just because of your comment LOL
you can speed it up that's what i always do to slow moving videos
This works! Bought the dye today. 2 boxes. I have very very dark brown hair almost black and now its chocolate brown :D thanks alot!!!
hey i bought the same dye to! and i was wondering if you could send me a before and after of your hair? I just really want a second persons take on this hair dye before i use it :) Thanks! :)
Melliwwi chocolate brown is my natural hair color 🙂
how many boxes are needed?
You dyed all your hair with only one box??? This is a miracle!!!
She has thin hair this is why
+Nana Raef
A miracle of miracles!! I could never fit one box on my thin, way shorter than hers hair. She's crazy for even trying, I'd have just used two.
She used two boxes.
She clearly used two
I used 3 boxes to dye my hair and it still wasnt enough feelsbadman
dye works differently on everyone's hair, like for my mum.. dye shows up more vibrant and with more of a difference compared to my hair. so it really depends on how easily your hair will react with the dye. if your really unsure then you can always try doing a strand test with the dye and see what colour it will turn out to be like instead of dyeing your whole hair to find out the result of the colour :)
anyone from 2019???
Me
No
2020
Nope 2020
Eca Icaro i’d like to go back in 2019
Great tip. I used Light Ashen Blonde and it worked like a charm. I have really dark hair btw. Thank you!!!
Remember if you are nervous try this , do a strand test and see how it goes
I wanted my hair around this color so much ^°^ and now i finally have the video thank you so much
omg u are a life saver!! cant wait to dye my hair brown!! so excited..thankyou 😀 x
NEVER dye your hair lighter from roots to ends. Ever.
You'll just end up with "hot roots", roots that are lighter than the rest of your hair.
#experienced
its true just died my hair red
what if its lighter at the ends ? do i still do them first before the roots ?
+brittney lee depends on what result you are trying to achieve. Otherwise, yea but the roots will be darker then the ends. :) I recomend you all reading tutorials on the internet and read the comments just in case u want to be on the safe side
Should have seen this before I tried it😬 I did exactly what she said😬😬
This is what happened 2 me, I'm Asian, I have hair, and I wanted my hair 2 b brown, so I dyed my hair from the root......and then, now, only the roots of my hair is brown
the colour is permanent! but it does fade a bit.. if your scared about the colour comming out wrong, do a strand test and you can see what colour your hair will be like! dye works differently on everyones hair :)
Hi I dye my hair the same colour on the first time I thought it didn't work on the morning I saw my hair on the sunlight then I realize it turn into brown btw nice to meet u!🙋🏻👋🏼
hi Emily! Question! So I dyed my hair, but the top is very light compared to the bottom. Do you think it's a good idea to redye my entire head again or just the lower portion? Thanks in advance!
For anyone who wants to know how to do this but doesn’t live in the UK(they don’t make the hair dye in the US), I did this with L’Oreal Preference 9.5A lightest ash brown hair dye and it worked. My hair is black and about medium hair length. I didn’t use a full bottle because I was timid, but it definitely worked and I love how it turned out!
Thank you for sharing Isbella
Gorgeous hair btw :)
I've had my hair dyed black, going to try this out!
this really works if you have black hair and you use a blonde hair dye!! i just left mine in longer than i was supposed to about 30 minutes longer and it came out great!
Hii wow this comment is old but do you remember usd you had dark brown in that moment? Cause I have dark brown and I’m trying to achieve this chocolate brownish color
Good job! You have such a long hair, how many boxes of dye did you use? My hair was kind of short last time I dyed it all by myself (above shoulders) and I've used two whole packages. It is pretty thick but I still think one package should be enough.
You have very gorgeous healthy looking hair! Great job on taking care of it!
Color doesn't lift color. If you hair is DYED black then you have to use a color remover or bleach. Trust me. I have dyed my hair black many times and bought the best lightening kits out there and it was still orange. Just 3 days ago I went to a hair stylist to get it lightened to brown and we tried it without bleach and got no results. We had to bleach it to strip it. The only way this will work is if your hair is virgin (no artificial colors on it at all)
Bella Black ohh, your comment solved me a lot of questions. For example I've got my hair black (but it's dye) so I want to change my color to a brown one. So... I have to use bleach? Right?):
Bella Black use purple shampoo to get rid of orange stains
What if I dyed my hair previously but used color oops to remove it? Would there still be any chemicals in my hair that would prevent it from lightening
alexissguillenn I did my hair yesterday. I have dark blue black dyed hair, and I did one round of bleaching, dyed it my desired brown, and then bleached the ends for a nice ombré
@@alexissguillenn2036 that's my exact same question! I guess nobody knows..
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS! THANK YOU :)
Wow! 30 seconds after watching this I ran down to the supermarket .. I bought the exact same product.. And was thrilled with the result. Many thanks for sharing ! Have kicked the jet black hair to the kerb!!!!!
Oh my gosh your voice is so lovely
I have black hair and have tried box dye and it never worked. However, I never tried a blonde color. Im scared to try lol
+AlmostEverythingg & More It's most likelty not to work because most box dye are just toners, so they don't really bleach your hair a lot :) If you use a blondebox dye, it will only lift your tone an slightly bit.
I had brown hair and wanted it blond and always bought the lightest box dye till I got the blond I wanted
Viridiana Heredia I did the same thing!
It works.
Viridiana Heredia can you just use any brand or does it have to be a specific one?
-_____- i should have tried this before i tried 3 times to dye my hair from black to medium brown/reddish....my hair right now is still black and i'm actually so angry and frustrated
Yeah my mom finally let me dye my hair auburn and my hair is still black yo
You have to bleach ur hair
Garnier has a really good box dye called Ultra Lift and they even show on the box how it lifts your hair color when it is a dark brown shade. I used it a long time ago and I liked it, I don't use it anymore cause I go cruelty free now though. Just drench your hair in coconut oil before dying it cause it is probably a higher developer (more damaging) than others because it needs to lift more. Your hair should be fine afterwards, and if you have enough to drench your hair it will go evenly enough. Start back bottom to front cause the back is harder to take color, tip to root because the root takes faster b/c of the heat on your head.
If you have dyed it black (not a virgin hair) then you will have to lighten your hair with bleach. My natural hair is black and once I had brown hair, dyed it black and then wanted to go back to brown. Bought 3+ box dyes and my hair was still black. I finally bleached it and then I could dye over it with brown.
Nox Field Good for you going cruelty free - what hair dyes do you use then?
i know this is your old video but want to say i love your hair so smooth! (and the tesco plastic was free, good old day hehe).
Your voice is really relaxing. Great video and nice before/after shots!!
omg you are so pretty!!!!!
so cute! :) u remind me of my grand daughter..when she grows up!
i have a completely different hair type, but still like the process. thanks for sharing. looks great!
Great video and I love that you have a lot of tips in the description box because i have never dyed my hair before
Thanks it was very helpful :) ♥ :)
I discovered this video yday, I have jet black hair and did the front two strips brown using the same dye! Thank you so much bcos my hair literally looks like your colour in the video. Didn’t need to bleach it and about 5 strands of hair came out that’s it. I had to do the ends twice and wrapped in foil (didn’t do this the first time so maybe that’s why I had to do it twice) 😊
What dye brand did you use? And did it make your hair dry?
@@iicii77 hey it was the L’Oréal one in the video in the shade 10.1 Helsinki, and nope my hair wasn’t dried out or anything after 😊
I am a licensed hairdresser and the amount of incorrect information shared in the comments and the misleading hair tutorial makes me cringe. First I want to say that the sweet girl in this video was able to achieve the color she wanted and it looks fine...but using this method will not work for everyone especially those who have color on their hair already. The amount of ammonia in the color used in this video will not remove artificial color from a previous haircolor. For that you must use a color stripper or bleach. Please go to a licensed cosmetologist for help in regards to your hair. Or if you have a concern feel free to reply to this comment.
Thanks for this comment. I was so close to buying that blonde colour before I read your comment. I was going to dye my reddish dark brown hair with this cause I hate the red tones and how dark my hair is. I've been trying to get to an ash colour for so long.
My hair has gone through practically every color!! Brown to red and such. Recently out of frustration i dyed it black. Boxed black dye :( i really dont like it. is there any way to strip it at home? What would u recommend?
You can purchase a color stripper. There's one called colorfix by one n' only that you can find at sallys for under $15 i believe. I have used this on my own hair and it successfully removed the black dye. I would be cautious though since you said youve colored
Your hair several times already. Do a strand test on a small section on the back of your hair to be sure the color remover doesnt have an adverse effect with the box dyes on your hair. The process can be repeated 2-3 times but it will leave your hair in a coppery stage so be prepared to use another color to cover it up. For that i would recommend going to a professional to make sure you get the color you want. Box dyes always seemed to go way darker on me when i used them years ago... Hope that helps. Good luck
I just died my hair black by accident it was meant to be dark brown but it didn't turn out. how do I get my desired dark brown look now?
Thats exactly the color that I wanted for my hair....thanks for this video!
omg I can't wait to try this, I've basically damaged my poor hair from trying to go back to my natural brunette color. I've dyed my hair red for about two years now and wanted a change, so I decided to use Color Oops by Loreal to strip the hair dye (It worked, but then my hair came out black since the Color Oops-ified hair absorbs dark colors quickly), then a few week later, did the same thing, but chose the lightest brown possible and it still came out black. So hopefully, this should work by just going over my blackish hair with a blonde.
It's mulan in real life :D
yes lol
+dlckddyd76 Story of my life ahahah!
+Emily Liu hi...i just want a piece of advice from u..i have black hair and i dye it with l'oreal mahogany copper brown but its so sad because the color i expected to see never come out u can see a little bit only if u under the lights and now i want to dye into light color of brown is it possible???thanks
+Emily Liu whats your haircut. ? ?
one of my close friends (my yigga) looks like mulan as well teheh :33
May I ask how would that blonde color dye turned ur hair into a brown color? would that completely be brown?
It turned out brown becuz blonde is an extremely light colour and black is a very dark colour but a lighter colour cant completely make it blonde it does make it go down a shade tho
Stronger developer lifts the color.
The video is great because you explain all the way without making people bore, good job
I'm always hunting for new ways to style my hair. Thanks for making your videos.
Peace,
Yasmin
i need to stop watching hair tutorials on youtube, I always just get insanely jealous of girls with gorgeous hair like you
YOU MADE ME SO HAPPY!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO!!! I WAS SO SAD With MY BRIGHT BLACK HAIR!!! I hated it. I followed your instructions now I have a nice brown hair!!!😁YAY!!!👍💕💕💕💕💕
How long did it last?
Helsinki! I live there! :D anyways your hair turned out looking faaab.😍😍
THANK YOU!!!! i have black hair right now..but i want a medium brown with highlights..but i dont want to bleach so this will help soooo much!!
yes, my hair is naturally black :)
Love your voice :)
I tried it, the same dye (the only one I could find int the store lol) and it worked! I am very happy with the result ^^ thanks!
looks so beautiful!
You are insanely beautiful and your hair is so long. This video was so helpful! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!
caida depelo
Yea okay
i have seen a few videos, how come nobody uses a cling wrap or aluminium foil or a shower cap to cover their head?
i would much rather use a walmart plastic bag. Anything that works, right?
Wow my hair looks like crap when greasy, yours looks so pretty😍
loving the not advised caption on the box
woow, that color naim is Helsinki! I live there thats a Finland city name! :D
For some reason my hair is changing from dark dark brown to a red brow color without using any dye
OOOOH MY GOD IT WORKED ❤️❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO
Did you already have color in your hair or was this the very first time you colored your hair? I'm just wondering if you had processed your hair or if this was color over virgin hair.
Does this work on black dyed hair or just natural dark hair?
This will NOT work on hair that has been previously colored. Color will not lift color. The advice in this video makes me cringe, as a professional 😭
+Sarah Compton same lol. Some of this advice is scary lol
+Sarah Compton not trying to sound rude but why are you here then? If your that much of a professional, you would already know how to do this......?
+Marleni Resendiz maybe because it popped up and I felt like watching it? 🙃
huh
So...... no blondes have any warm/brassy tones in them. The red/orange is underlying pigment in your hair that it must go thru to get blonde. Ash tones have either a green or blue base that helps cancel out those red/orange tones. Only commenting bc getting an ash blonde DOES NOT guarantee that your hair won't be brassy. It just means that if it gets light enough, the ash will aid in cancelling out warmer tones.
hey! was this your first time dying and does this affect the final result? Also I was wondering whether someone with naturally coarse afro black hair...would get the same result ? :)
i've had the same problem, i dyed my hair black with permanent dye, 4 weeks later i had a change of heart. I used to a 40° developer with bleach to have been able to degrade down to a resemblance of reddish brown while the roots were platinum blond! I left the bleach for 45 min on my hair to get to that result. i hope this helps
Ingenious idea to lighte black hair with a very light blonde dye, athough even the box advised againts it. :) But one major thing - one should NEVER use a plastic bag/cap with chemical dyes, it can actually be really dangerous (no venting for scalp etc.)!! Those dyes are not actually designed to be used that way - no way does the dye dry out and stop working! (With herbal dyes like henna that actually *does* happen, but they're a different matter entirely.)
This comment is interesting.....My mom has been coloring her hair for years and she's always used a plastic cap and nothing's ever happened. Obviously I know nothing about dye but yea
will this really work? I really need help. I dyed my hair black and turns out I don't like it, its too dark for me. The next day I colored my hair 'again' to dark brown. But still it was black. Im so freakin' pissed:
Get a box of Hair Color Remover such as Color Fix or go to Amazon etc.
+starseed787 what if I bought a dark brown hair dye but turn black can I use a light hair dye or do I have to buy Color oops or something to remove it ?? please answer
+monica antuna I don't know what color you want to go to. It's going to keep staying black or dark brown. The easiest thing to do at this point is buy color oops or color fix etc. I had the same issue I wanted dark blue on my ash brown hair and it turned all black. I bought a color remover from Sally's. It worked!! Now I colored it back to medium brown. Don't keep covering it up with more color. Do the remover. Then choose the color you want. Good luck!
starfaith8 I just want it light brown or brown but I already bought color oops and I dyed it dark brown but it came out black and I have to buy color oops again which I don't want to do the same process.
So your hair is black now (again)? When I removed the black from my hair with Color Fix it went back to the light brown it was. Then I colored it again with a medium brown and it stayed. You really need to REMOVE that color coating your hair. Is there a Sallys Beauty Supply near you? Go there and ask them what to do, they can see you. I can't. You should either do a different remover, Sallys has a gentle one by One and Only w/Argan Oil. It works well. Then get a LIGHTER brown than dark brown such as medium etc. Or take a huge risk and lighten your hair with a dark blonde. But I strongly suggest going to Sallys. Good Luck;-)
HELLO!! Could you advise whether using a blond tone from loreal casting gloss will give the same results? actually i have quite dry hair..so i wanted to reduce the damage by using a non-ammonia based colour..thanks =)
I have so much hair I use at least 3 boxes of dye if not 4. I’m amazed at how you could use just one.
She means without dumping actual hair bleach on your damn hair.
Guys you can dye your hair from black to brown just like she shows without removing the color, I had my hair colored black but my natural hair was also black and then I dyed them multiple times over the years with lighter colors and it has reached a dark brown color. If I used a blonde or dark blonde it would become brown it is just all about the shade you pick.
4 years later
thank you so much, I never knew I could do it without bleaching first.
I just did this today and my hair turned about fab! It isn't orange or brassy, it doesn't feel like straw either!
Did u previously had blond highlights? I do and im afraid for it to go ginger
The end result is soo different from the box tho :o
With dark dark hair like hers blonde hair dyes usually turn it brown because they're made for lighter hair colors. Hope that helps (:
Jordan Beers DEATH NOTE XO (i had to)
Adding to what Jordan said if you do this with any blonde box dye too it will turn copper and brassy, which is why Emily Liu used an ash based one because it cancels out the orange.
Jordan Beers If I use it multiple times on black hair, would it eventually turn blonde?
2020 anyone?
Do you use normal shampoo after you dye your hair with this or do you use colour protection shampoo?
im confused did you use both boxes of dye on your hair or just one?? and also my hair is naturallt a black but ive dyed it three times and nothings happened. so if i do this will my roots come out lighter than the rest of my hair?
You look exactly like Mulan!
omg she kind of does
omg yehh shee doo
i see Mulan dyeing her hair :p
Where did you learn all this? You're so professional and neat - NO MESS!!
I have dark black hair and I want to dye it a sort of chocolate brown what colour would you recommend?
i have black hair and i've just watched this, im going to the shop to buy the same hair colour and give it ago so ill let you all know if it works or not (:
Did it work?!? :D Is your hair naturally black?
hey, no I didn't work, it made my hair a little bit lighter but id still call it black /: and made my roots bright ginger xox
Aw man... i was going to try this....but thanx for your honest review! i guess our best bet is to go to the hair salon and get it professionally done .;(
no worries guys glad I can help, hair is important with girls dont want to give anyone the wrong answers!
siona perks so i tried the box dye no dramatic change my hair lighten one shade only in bright sun light. So i just went to the salon got base color and honey blonde highlights. Lol i love it. Professionals are always the best way to go. :)
Ur so pretty you look like Pokaontas
Pocahontas !!!
Hello,im just wondering if it damaged your hair much? And do you havr any good box dyes you recommend? :)
@Emily Lui I have Blonde highlights, Since early April haven't touched them since then, but your brown is something I really want, would you recommend me doing the same process to get that same tone, or would I have to get rid of the highlights first then your process second?
Okay having greasy hair does not help the dye stick to you hair. If you put oil with oil you get oil, if anything it makes the dye harder to stick to you hair because you hair follicle is clogged up with grease.
Facts
I dyed my hair jet black. And now I want to dye it brown. I tried and only the 3 inches long virgin hair went brown the rest of it stayed stubbornly black... I want brown! Help please.
Wait for a few months and re dye it.
I want brown or auburn hair and my hair is black what type of product should I use.
hi Tee A You cannot lighten your hair after having dyed your hair black.
You need to chemically strip the coloured layer of your hair. Try Hair Fix It. It's about $15 USD.
Try the Vitamin C treatment. Just look on RUclips, there are plenty of tutorials.Did you use permanent hair-dye? If so, vitamin C might not work that well. I dyed my hair black with semi-perm dye and stripped it beautifully with Vitamin C to a chocolate brown color in a matter of hours, with no damage...
Try stripping it with a chemical hair stripper or try a few washed with baking soda and rinse it with lemon juice (don't get it in you eyes of course)
hey so i'm completely new at this stuff so I was just wondering how long the dye stay for, I have blond ombre which has lasted for a year now but I got it done at a salon and now I want to dye my all my hair brown at home, but I'm not sure how lasts permanent lasts for...thanks x
Was your hair virgin black hair before you dyed it this color, or was it dyed black hair? Thank You So Much:)
Q:Wanna know how I dyed my hair brown?
A: It got sunburned and turned to brown somehow
why choose blond dye rather than a chocolate brown color??
because it wont work on black hair. when you use a dark color on black hair it will be very hard for the color to show
tint will only lift up to 3 shades lighter. if she is a 1 (black) she will only get to a number 4. (medium brown) so using a level 10 did nothing more than a 4 so should have just bought number 4.
So my natural hair colour is black and I want to go a dark brown colour (3 ish). The thing is I've already dyed my hair to a light brown colour in a 2-step process - bleached it and then dyed it to a very light/ praline brown colour.
After a month I dyed it a dark brown (3) colour and while it was meant to be permanent, it slowly faded within two months. Now I am still stuck with my light/praline brown hair.
Any explanations as to why it faded (despite being "permanant" hair dye), and any tips on how to make sure it stays dark brown this time? Thanks a million !!!
will it be better using a flat comb to do it? thats how they do it at the hairdresser right?

I dyed my hair twice once using the Loreal one and second the garnier one and guess wat? Nothing happened and yes my hair is black and i was pissed yh and also both of the boxes had "créme" in them
ok thank you Shuntricia Addison .... if it comes out uneven is there a specific toner i would do?
I have never dyed my hair before, I think I will only use a little bit because I just want a highlight. But what I want to ask is -- If I were to pour the mixture to a cup, should it be a 1:1 ratio of the mixtures? Also will it be a darker brown if I wash it off before the recommended time?
