- The boys has not been doing well this season and the recently renamed Season 4 Finally does not do much to right that wrong! Riddled with plot holes, poor writing and profound wastes of time and space! It might be setting something better up for the final season but that does not change the fact that this one was a pointless one.

I mean they pulled her off decently well, homelander is predicable, and it makes some sense that the Vice President would betray them, that and you can’t really show off the powers of the Vice President or else people could realize that she killed everyone in congress, also the boys are constantly doing super illegal shit so all you would have to do is record them for a bit and then tell everyone that they are being supported by the us government.
After that watch as they lose support, you know how democrats are with police over stepping now imagine if joe Biden had a CIA kill team that was made up of murders drug dealers and was going around killing people they did not like and violating people’s rights almost everyday people would lose their shit.
I think the dumbest part is we're back to ground zero. The Boys ain't killed shi fr. HL is back to being controlled when his whole character arc is about losing everything until he cares about nothing. It's pretty much HL getting manipulated but it's not Stan and Stillwell they fused together into Sage. Sage as a character idea isn't bad but there execution of her is just pathetic. Seeing HL troll as president until he eventually just does whatever cuz he's bored and doesn't give af is way more interesting then just recycling the same old plots. S5 gonna be a flop especially when Trump becomes President again
The Boys only needed at best three seasons. It's now been overextended and has become just a mouthpiece for TDS writers/showrunners.
It could have had ten good seasons if they just followed the comic a lot more.

personally only season 1 was very good. Season 2 was mediocre and 3 was ok. So even 3 seasons is a bit much for this show. Two was enough

A healthy tip top shape Kimiko lost to the shape shifter in a few seconds but a worn down, eating the bare minimum with freash hand wounds Starlight managed to choke her out

I don't know it the show is really that cynical... at least when the writing was better. I think it's supposed to be pointing out the problems with hero-worship, and it holds up characters like Hughie and his Dad as the real 'heroes'. If it has a positive message, that's it.
If you watch it on the high seas, you can accurately trash it without giving Amazon any clicks or views.

I miss those. I've been watching old Star Trek and the seasons are 26 episodes a season. I miss these long seasons.
Seasons that span 6-9 months with a 3-6 month break in between seasons to shoot the next one. Episodes dropping every week or every other week. Now we get 6-12 episode seasons with 2-5 year gaps in between. This shi weak asl

The writers completely destroyed the og storyline in favour of telling their own story, now they wrote themselves into a corner and don't know what to do.
And before someone says "but the comic is baaaad!!!!", at least it had a complete story, this one will just keep going until people stop watching it.

I am reading the comics recently and the characters are actually well written so far and it feels like a completely different world. Till now I am enjoying the comic
It suffers from success, like most American shows. Instead of providing a concise beginning, middle, end they instead pump out filler episodes/season to ride the wave for as long as they can. That and the constant need to jam real world politics into EVERYTHING.
To be fair the comic was definitely a product of the Bush era and aged like milk

The comics stayed out of politics for the most part, only really referencing the war in Pakistan that was directly started by the seven accidentally destroying the golden gate bridge, and an attempted coup in Russia by little Nina and Vought

Amazing how Annie pretty heavily implies that Hughie should’ve just “known” that he was with the shapeshifter because she was being nicer to him than the real Annie ever has been
i think its a combination of not knowing where the fk they want to go with the story now its so divorced from the source material and severe TDS over the audience liking Homelander so much

I swear you have taken the words right out of my mouth. I’ve made a similar comment on several other videos about the humiliation ritual thing. It has really killed all tension that did exist in the show because they have to make him seem as incompetent as possible not even once using the various powers he had to investigate the most blatantly obvious fuckery going on like the bullet hole in Sages head lol
They don't understand if you want a "villian" to he defeated you have to show them being menace and doing evil shi. HL felt way more evil and unpredictable in previous seasons. S4 he should've amped it up and gone even darker. He should becoming more and more evil so we see why Butcher gives into "Kessler" and becomes evil and why the Boys are so desperate. Instead we just see him crying and not killing anyone and the Boys are just complaining and not killing shi either. Like we wanna see Hughie killing Supes and Butcher stomping heads. With HL using all his humanity and pretty much just becoming the Joker with Superman powers. It's just such a waste of a very interesting concept. HL was impulsive and erratic but never moronic. Trying to make look like an idiot makes every other character look like a bigger idiot in comparison. Starr can act but man they gave him the shittiest script possible this season. Even he couldn't save it

Yeah, that line was shockingly clunky, there was so much wrong with it. 'Mansplained' doesn't sound like the sort of thing Newman would say, that line could have been given to any character. What's more, isn't she supposed to be a career politician? Why is she openly complaining about having to talk to billionaires to get their political support? Isn't that a big part of her job? If I were her, I'd hide my feelings about that, if only because I wouldn't want to look incompetent. Why is she complaining so openly with the billionaires in the same mansion with her? What if they overhear? Some of them might even be secret supes like her and have super-hearing or something. People in the show used to be subtle, putting on a wholesome facade in public at least.
It just felt like the writers dropped everything about her character so they could be edgy and write a string of buzzwords and complain about rich Republican men or something.

Starlight getting mad and being unreasonable at Hughie who slept with a shapeshifter that can also read minds was insane to me.
I thought the ending to this season was really good though and I'm looking forward to the next season.
Yeah that was annoying when she got mad. Thankfully she got over it quickly though. Can't wait for season 5. This channel is coping hard

It's The New Norm of superhero shows for Progressives
Homelander revisiting the lab was cool as a visual and a Joker Superman moment...yet it was already previously alluded to that Homelander's cold lab rat childhood messed him up for life so it was just good filler.
I did like the Ashley part and her taking V in the last episode. It was a good doubling down moment.
As much as I really enjoyed the 'lab' episode, yeah, it feels like plot-wise they could have just skipped it and the season would have been almost unchanged.
Ashley is a character who should have died ages ago, but didnt because she's a middle-aged wahman, I assume. Now she'll become some monster and maybe get payback or die like a moron, played for laughs. From these writers, both are possible. Much like Hughie's dad.

The same with other characters they're regressing when they should be progressing. The thing that made HL so scary was his unpredictable (Is he gonna laser that crowd is he really gonna abandon a plane full of people. But that element is completely gone now

Because whatever Character Carlo Esposito is playing, he’s Lex Luthor, you don’t mess with him, even if you are Superman ( or Homelander as it is)

I hate how they nerfed Newman, at the end of last season she was a menace, this season she couldn't do anything. Last season Newman could have erased the animals and Butcher octopus on sight.

I tapped out a few episodes ago when they gave Hughies dad powers out of nowhere, then killed him off after playing with them for five minutes.
That whole sequence was to me. Hinted at this story behind the scenes.
The show runners finally getting a call back from Simon Pegg, he showed up on set, he read the script, rolled his eyes and went to lunch, produced his own script, writing himself off the show, so he would never be called back. Im guessing they were gonna have his dad molest Hughie for this season but Simon wasnt into it. So he "exited" the show.
I imagine there was a series of phone calls, back and forth with the agents, the money and Amazon, with Pegg ultimately getting his way and this poorly assembled storyline is the result. A weird, disconnected series of events that serves only to exit Pegg from the show.
I genuinely wouldn't be surprised since Kripke and Co made Hughie get sexually assaulted already and treated it like a big joke. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fetish insert.
Yeah, wtf was up with that Dad plot? S4 is undeniably the weakest. I binged s1-3 as a new fan, and this new stuff just isn’t as solid or air tight.

Honestly s1 and s3 were the only ones I actually enjoyed, s2 and s4 are just... a shock value proposition.
Regarding the Octopus, they can survive outside of water for about half an hour. The problem with the Deep's Octogirlfriend is that he smashed her tank and then stormed out and slammed the door on her. She was stuck in there slowly suffocating with no way out.
But I heard if the octopus is suddenly out of water without gathering enough oxygen it could die quickly

I have noticed how cheap show became, most scenes in s4 filmed indoor with long and wasteful dialogs, bare minimum action scenes and CGI. Most filler season I have ever seen in my life.
That’s my issue. Bare minimum super powers or action. You FEEL the budget restriction, and the spoon feeding of “oh, we’ll LET you have a moment of super powers. Okay, now wait another 10 mins”

Some of the grossest most degenerate content I have seen this year. Notwithstanding that, the showrunners have nothing new to say. The show feels like it's repeating elements from previous seasons. In hindsight The Boys should have ended in 3 seasons.
I watched the first episode of season 3 and damn near lost my lunch, so I checked out and refuse to watch anymore. It's just murderporn and not fit for human consumption.
I don't watch most crap shows nowadays. I do enjoy listening to people break down the lunacy of them though.
Hughie is really to blame for not knowing who the shapeshifter is. Wasn't it strange that Annie suddenly became a real character in the show?

And a real life Superman would be indeed dangerous and if anything demonic. And how supes are human size nuclear bombs and deterrence against enemy nations. Even enemy nations and super terrorists would be indeed make our world more worse than better because of superhero genre romanticism
I don't know why they killed Neuman. She was by far one of the most interesting characters in the show. And the actress delivered.
Ah, Claudia was a pleasure. I hate how this show rarely lets the Supers use their powers. You can really feel the budget restrictions.

She’s dating hughies actor. He’s a nepo baby whose dad is a big trumper so they take it out on the character Hughie
They even joked in this season she was an AOC stand-in. Im glad she's dead, theyre at least just a tiny bit closer to the comics with writing her off. If she stayed alive, she could/would have become the main enemy instead of Homelander, and thats just... no, would have been awful.

Where did Sage get the video showing the president in the bunker? Her only mole was the shape shifter, and not once do we see her trying to conceal a phone or be overtly sneaky so she could film him.

Season 4 felt like such a waste of time and Season 3 finale contributed a lot to it. We went right back to Season 1 status quo there was no progress.
They should've ended Season 3 with Homelander getting blasted by Soldier Boy and getting heavily weakened. Maeve being the one restraining Homelander thus sacrificing herself. She gets disintegrated but Homelander just gets wounded and collapses on the floor.
The Boys go to check if he's still alive but before they do it Soldier Boy tries to kill Ryan but gets stopped by Butcher, they argue and eventually fight in order to protect Ryan. They successfully neutralize Soldier Boy with that gas (MM could also die here to keep stakes high).
Once Soldier Boy is neutralized they go back to check on Homelander only to see him standing, clearly weakened, the Boys can't believe that he survived that.
Butcher, Starlight and Kimiko try to jump him but Homelander flies away clearly struggling to keep himself in the air as the Boys watch him now knowing that he's weakened and thus easier to kill.
Seaon 4 should begin with Homelander crashing into his cabin from Season 2, figuringout and struggling with the fact that he's wayy weaker now and can be killed by the boys so he injects compound V to keep boosting his powers just like A-Train did in Season 1.
Unfortunately that's not the ending we got so Season 4 should've focused on these 3 specific plotlines in order to progress the story and not feel like a filler season:
1. The Boys trying to figure out how to kill Homelander.
• Butcher is locked in as he's dying
• Trying to get the Supe Virus from Neumann to use on Homelander
2. Homelander and Ryan's Relationship. With a LOT more screentime so it hits harder once Ryan leaves his father.
• Homelander teaching Ryan how to use his powers (Flight, strengh control, heat vision control, etc) and actually enjoying it
• Homelander struggling to know how to deal with Ryan's emotions as a father
• Homelander struggling to mold Ryan's morals because of Becca's upbringing
3. Homelander plotting to control the government with Sage's assistance.
• Neumann alliance
• Engineering a civil war
• Send heroes from The Seven to kill The Boys
That's it! No Frenchie or Hughie subplots. Focus on those and you get a good season that builds up to the final season.
They never said that they "didn't know how to kill" The Deep. MM said that it would take no time at all for Noir to come back and attack them again. That's why they just up and left.
A-Train was there and could have killed both of them... if it was an issue of non-super people can't kill them.
@@Ragmon1 I just re-watched the scene. A-Train had just booked it before MM said the line. Butcher's response: "Do you know how to kill him, because Noir sure as hell knows how to do us" was not about them not actually knowing how to kill The Deep, it was about them not being able to do it before Noir came back. Remember, at this point Starlight is having her crisis with her powers so she might not even be able to beat The Deep to death at that moment. They played it smart.
I'm not going to claim it's a perfectly written scene, but it's serviceable and you'd have to be looking to have your immersion broken to have Butcher's question give you pause.

@@patterofheads256but then again, WHY did A-Train just bail? He was kicking their asses. And if he and The Boys finished the job, A-Train wouldn’t have needed to run away anyway. Homelander only found out A-Train was the leak because Noir and Deep told him. So A-Train just leaving before finishing them off made no sense.

While you've been watching The Boys, I've been watching House of Cards and The A-Team.
The A-Train redemption arc is the only good thing about this season.
They are stretching it out, just like many of the male 'victims' in this one sided series.
I'm glad I checked out after season one.
Making Frenchie gay is a no-no
It took too long to get to the point this season, there was ALOT of pointless filler guff 1 or 2 story pushing episodes. I'm still looking forward to the final season but that's A LONG WAY OFF... which is absurd for how little we actually got this season.
I hated that season finale so much. It was such a let down in every way. The way they ended every plot line and story. The way they tried to pull a few plot twists came off as contrived. The sister safe shit was just bad. It didnt make sense at all. That one seemed like bad writers just writing themselves to be smarter than they are.

So I was watching "tiny guns 3", which is a corridor (digital) youtube video, and I've gotta say, I didn't like it, it's just gore and death.
So I was thinking. Did I ever like those? So I went and found tiny guns 1 and 2 from years before, and lo and behold, I left likes to both of them, and they are also just gore and violence and disgusting too.
Did I change growing up? I recently watched "A man named Otto" and was pissing my eyes out in certain scenes. Would I care 10 or 20 years ago?
Why that comment? Well I think the Boys is the same. Just gore and violence.
Young me would like that, old me hates it.
Is the same with you too people? Do you also cry in movies now? And I don't mean chick flicks, I mean the ones where Theoden's son dies in lord of the rings, and he cries during his funeral. Just thinking about this scene makes me sad now. It's when it's about family, someone has a kid and it dies, or his wife dies, something like that. I find that so much emotionally hard at this point in my life, it's hard to hold the tears.
But watching someone getting blown up from inside their dick, and then someone makes a stupid joke about that, not a fan of that at all.
I get tired of pointless gore and guts. Especially Gen V where a girl kills her mom accidentally with period blood. This whole season was filled with pointless gore . I think that’s on purpose, as kids you see gore and maybe your brain doesn’t fully process it. Once your brain and empathy fully develop it makes you sick. Even when I’m gaming I get a sick feeling when realistic characters get decapitated. (BALDURS GATE 3.) A show that is cynical about everything except its revelry in gore makes me hate this season in particular.
It's gonna take Sister Sage to unscrew this.

I don't believe she can, because she's only as smart as the writers, and it did not IMMEDIATELY occur to them that Vought or the government would want her either contained, or doing something useful for them.

Yeah it was a very very underwhelming season and to me a complete waste.
I feel like people are completely missing the point of season 4 or just not understanding it at all. The discourse over this season makes no sense to me. Is it the best season? No, but imo it works greatly to set up the final season. Sure it was a lil messy and some stuff definitely was not needed (like the frenchie and Colin side story) but all in all I think this season was pretty good and idk why it’s getting so much unnecessary hate.
You're probably just not noticing the shitty writing, which is fine if you're more into some other aspect of the show. But when people get invested in the characters, and then the characters do nonsensical or retarded things, they get disappointed. Neuman having no other plan or backup, Starlight being bitchy, Deep just killing his octopus for basically nothing, Grace seriously trying to intimidate Ryan, etc. All these things start to make people uninterested or fail to suspend disbelief.
Personally, I stopped really caring about anything that was going on after Generation V. Turns out, they've had this sonic device to neutralize supes this whole time, so the supes aren't actually a threat. They haven't been for years. We know, because they also have supes that can practice mind control, and they're willing to cooperate. Okay, so just use those fuckin' things to control Homelander and whomever else. But nobody does any of that because the writers weren't working together or thinking.
That said, the other thing that is obviously pissing people off is the hammering they get to the head in political messaging: Government and left wing are good, corporations and right wing are bad. Notice that the Starlighters and company NEVER actually do anything bad, or have any silly beliefs. It's just Vought and their version of Fox News. Right off the bat, you'd have to be willing to accept that the government would EVER let a corporation control superheroes to begin with, which is retarded. We got other Nazi tech in WW2, and who controlled all of that? But ignore that for the sake of entertainment. Why is Vought telling its own supporters a bunch of obviously nonsense conspiracy crap? They just never bothered making a cohesive narrative, and they're the threat? What purpose would that shit serve? They aren't in a power struggle or anything, so why str people up in direct contravention to their interests?
Again it's just bad writing, and with enough of it, people have to abandon a show they wanted to like.

This really does show how shallow the talent pool for writing is in the industry now. I mean, this isn't even an original IP, all they've gotta do is adapt from the source material and they're incapable of even doing that ffs.

No offend but the Boys series is way better than the comics, this season all it did was lower the quality of the show to the comic level.
@@martaduran6257No, solid disagree. The comic suffers from filler episodes just as much as the show, that said the main plot is much better, the characters are better and more varied, plus the comic isn't aping on Trump every 30 seconds.
They need to finish this series by season 5. They have the comic book material for guidance, fumbled, and now we have a wasted season. And also everyone is a few years older. I dont know how much longer anyone on that cast has energy to finish this.
