      My pleasure bud! Only thing is the part number for the pump upgrade kit is actually 10001 not 1001 (as mentioned in video). And it's 10185 if you want the magnetic drain plugs included w the kit Good luck w your repairs 👍

    yeah on my 99 gmc yukon my case started leaking but didn't think much of it. then few weeks later transfer went out and took my transmission out at the same time. it had a pretty big hole in it. but I've replaced both but haven't done this yet. I'll be doing it soon and on my 98 suburban so yeah wish I seen this earlier.

    Thanks for posting your videos. These are enormously helpful for folks like me that want to learn how to do stuff on our own, but don't have all the skills of a tenured mechanic. My pump rub Issue has caused a small pin hole in the t-case housing. After I replace the oil pump cover, would you also replace the t-case housing, or do you think it would be sufficient to fix the hole with JB Weld? I've seen lots of comments on doing it both ways.

      Your very welcome. As far as the cover, I have repaired t case covers w JB Weld ONLY for guys that were either unable to fit the cost of a cover in their budget or the cover was not avail when the repair was done due to time constraints etc. In a perfect world, the cover should be replaced when and if there is significant enough damage to result in a hole or thin material behind the pump cover. Merchant Automotive has the covers in stock just fyi 😉

    2000 GMC Yukon here, there is a loud clunk coming from my transfer case when I put it into reverse. Does this fix solve that issue? I've replaced the fluid and put in a new slip yoke to no avail.

    My NP 246 Trasnfer Case seems to be whining while driving. I never noticed the whine until I changed the gear ratio from 3:73 to 4:56. Is it possible the "whine" I have is caused by pump rub ? Transfer Case fluid has been changed and has the correct fluid for Auto Traction II. I have eliminated the possibility of the Torque Converter or Front Transmission pump because the whine never changes as gears shift and engine speed changes. TIA. Great Video

      Tony Bunch it’s your gears in the rear diff or front diff that are whining not the transfer case

      Having done this very swap in my garage.....yes, but its going to be a PITA....almost wholly due to the location of the ride-height cross member for the torsion bars.

    Great Video. When I put my truck into 4wd I feel a slight vibration only at higher speeds. Could this pump rub issue have any pre-mature signs besides the oil leak? My truck has recently been lifted and I thought it might possibly be U-Joint angles into the transfercase causing the vibration. If you have any Ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

      Hey bud. 1st off thanks for your comment. I've never had anyone report any audible signs of internal failure related to the pump rub issue other than the aftereffects of lubricant deprivation (lack of oil from fluid loss) on bearings and the chain. Considering the vehicle was just lifted, I'm going to say have the angles checked for phase alignment if it's a 2 piece shaft or significant difference in u joint angles from tcase to pinion. Good luck bud.

      Thanks for the response. I was figuring it was something to do with the angles from the lift. Once again great informative video, best of luck.

      Jeff Weeks actually, before mine rubbed a hole in it I heard a noise like clattering and a slight vibration like rumble strips. but like said isn't wasn't low on fluid because I was inspecting the undercarriage and couldn't find anything and all fluids were good. about a month later mine got a hole in it.

    Where does the gasket get installed?

    • @richiestruckandauto7438
      @richiestruckandauto7438  8 лет назад

      There's no gasket on the t case itself. The only gasket goes between the transfercase and the rear extension housing of the transmission

    • @Majatecks
      @Majatecks 8 лет назад

      +Richie's Truck and Auto the kit I got from Merchant Automotive came with a round paper gasket like the one shown at 0:20 on your video, which I thought was weird because it doesnt seem like it would fit anywhere. Any idea what it's for?

    • @BuildFixGo
      @BuildFixGo 8 лет назад

      It goes between the Tcase and transmission when you put the tcase back in your vehicle. Just did mine about 6 weeks ago. If you go to my channel I posted a video of repairing the rear case as well
