Check out this brief tutorial on a quick and effective method I've used to remove broken exhaust manifold hardware on L5P Duramax platforms. These are prone to breakage due to the unique triangular shoulder they have as well as the overall smaller diameter vs previous duramaxes. Patience is key here as the newly welded nut must be allowed to cool 1st before you spray and work it back and forth....

Ran across a no start issue w this 2016 LML duramax following a cp3 conversion. Figured someone could benefit from seeing what causes this condition and how to correct it. Very simple operation but can cause a headache if you aren't prepared for it. If the return assembly is bad (broken plastic clips or faulty regulator), the replacement part # from GM is 12639000. Hey, Great Job on the video. I needed this as I am doing a cp3 conversion currently. Question: What is the name of the plug that would screw into the down pipe where the 9th injector went in order to cap off downpipe? I need to get one! Thanks
@@patrickcooper1122 assuming you are doing this for "testing" purposes 😉. You do 1 of 3 things; cut the fitting w dykes and the crimped line will suffice as a sealed cap so simply thread it back in 2) use a 20x1.5mm drain plug or 3) search online for an HCI (9th injector) line plug but they are very hard to find these days
All other videos show doing it up front at Cp3 return and one on each head . What am I missing here ? How I know where to do it at ?
@cody6.6max the key factor is to try and isolate the bank or cp3 depending what you are testing for. If you're checking injector return rates then u need to isolate cp3 from that and vice-versa
@ ya I’ve seen the other videos go up front and use one beaker for cp3 return and two others from each bank/head . The way u do it looks alot easier for sure

My buddy has a fleece lift pump in his tank. Then he had to program his computer so it would know its there. He hopes the lift pump in tank will help on his 13 6.6 duramax. He says there is a class action suit on the cp4 as long as nothing has been deleted on the truck not sure.
@patrickeskew4028 not sure what needed to be reprogrammed as there is no oem circuitry for an in tank lift pump from OE? Fleece utilizes a standalone harness that supplies 12v power to the pump via accessory tap and relay that is key switched.

Worked for me, same concept same return line he mentioned. Except couldn’t get the hose off and saw somewhere else to just pinch that hose off with some vise grips, did that and it fired right up!
I got a no start 08 lmm, I’m getting 100ml return rate that means cp3 is good right ?
Im having the multiple codes with the P2146 code. I jiggle and wiggle the connectors but nothing changes. Bad injector module and not pigtails?

You need to just apply shop air to the return no big deal they need i think its 45 -60 psi on the return i cant remember which to allow the injectors to fire no big deal but alot of people panic

I can’t get the clip off injector 7. Do you have any tips on how to remove a stubborn clip? I’m pushing the clip in toward the injector and pulling away from the engine. Any help would be appreciated.
I just bought a gmc. I have always liked the stiff ride of a solid axle vrs a IFS. But it still seems like no improvement on this set up since the early 80's. At least its fun to work on if you have a garage

I’m getting po1093 and couple times I’ll get po1094. Drives fine , balance rates are good and no kinked hoses and when I floor it at wot the desired pressure with demand 22-23k and I’ll never get over 8k at wot . Cp3 right ???
You started off with the wrong order. Positive first then negative. When removing reverse order. Sheesh.
Yes you are correct. The instruction page was for removal not hook up. The procedure is to "reduce" the risk of an arc due to immediate draw. This is only an issue w a flammable source nearby (such as leaking battery) but jump starting shouldn't be your concern if that's the case. NOT sure why it's so surprising to so many people that a simple mistake could be made? It's addressed in the comments but I'm sure you could care less about that? You just want to flex on your knowledge and prove the person that took the time to make the video, incorrect. The basis for the video is starter feed source for varying platforms. My son also informed me as we jump started his Cummins diesel yesterday that particular concern is nothing to be concerned about since it's primarily related to older vehicles. I didn't mean to troll. I was having a bad day, and it had to do with diesels. The expense to fix them is astronomical, so my boy is learning to do everything on his own with help from people like you
How u disable the air dog just turn it off u mean !? Like unplug fuse or remove hoses

Anything special with the install of the water separator? Have to do this myself tomorrow.
Just make sure to open the pressure side (filter closest to the 2 output fittings) the feed side is suction. It will just remain air bound if that 1 is opened
Will this test work for a 2008 dramas as well?
Note that if u have the new fass filters it is the opposite water separator goes on 2 hose side just trying to help out

Any updates
How did this turbo compare to stock on the bottom end of things
Spools slightly slower depending on your drive pressure and manifolds/uppipes. Hits nice and smooth midrange > carries through up top. Doesn't like large injectors as it just builds back pressure

Great video - but always check the manual for your SPECIFIC vehicle. I have a 2018 6.6L Duramax Diesel. Page 414….CONNECT 1) red positive to dead battery. 2) red positive to good battery. 3) black negative to good battery. 4) black negative to dead battery
I have a 2002 lb7 can’t get it to start I lose prime so I disconnect the return line next to the feed and it comes out when I prime then I disconnect the heads and nun so I went to the “y” and it’s not from the fuel pressure relief valve so I disconnect the side of the pump cp3 return line and that’s where it losses prime and it’s brand new Bosh from diesel power products Also I connect my snap on scanner and everything and rates are good
So I did this, and it fired right up. Shut the truck off to put the air cleaner back on. Then fired it back up and it died after about a minute and wouldn’t start back. Performed the same procedure again and now it tries to start but then dies. Any ideas?
