    BRO!!!!! you just saved my ass. i just got done replacing the pitman and idler arm on my '11 lml. After I finished and tried to start the truck it cranked for a second, glow plug light lit up and wouldnt crank again. I was super dumbfounded because my first initial thought was a bad battery so I go to jumpstart the driver side battery with no luck, im thinking "it doesnt matter which battery to use, so I spend the next 6 hours going through every electrical connection and fuse on the truck, reading through page after page on forums with no luck, I was stumped because I kept getting random ass codes like U100 and some random chassis codes. Im thinkin i done fried my PCM somehow or my BCM is bad. I come inside frustrated and thought about the jump start thing and I do a search and find your video about which side the starter jumps from.. I go outside and hook my jumper up to the other battery and BOOOM!!!! started right up! Thanks a bunch!

    Nice Trucks
    What is in the LMM to prevent jumping/feeding off the drivers side battery. I thought the crossover cable was directly connected to the pass-side positive post?

    He has the manual open for the process of removal not for initial connection (flip back a page). Ppl do not do not boost a vehicle this way. It’s opposite!!… u start with the positive not the negative!
    (Dead Battery) + to + (good batter)
    (Good Battery) - to - (dead battery vehicle’s ground)
    To disconnect it’s just reverse order.

      Good thing for the RUclips police well done detective. As in every case its best to consult the manual w written instructions before performing measures such as described. The important part of hooking cables up is to connect the last cable (step #4) to the GROUND point or remote engine component not on the battery so it doesn't spark. However, most modern batteries are sealed and maintenance free so a small spart is not likely to cause an issues. It often takes me hours to make these videos so my helper wrote those instructions on the paper for me. I didn't realize it was the removal section until you pointed that out.

    Thank you. This was very helpful. I have a 05 Chevy Silverado 3500 LT RWD Dually for towing my RV. Im looking to buy jumper cables. In the video it sounded like you said your cables are industrial 4gauge with "side biting terminals". Im not finding these kind of cables. Any advice on where i can get them?

      It's the 6 gauge that counts at 10 feet long counts as well

    He said to feed the dead battery on a duramax from passenger side only, then he hooks up the jumpers on the drivers side?

    I'm currently, right now sitting in a 6.6 duramax, trying to jump a 1996 6.5 Silverado. I got 20ga cables.

    The page you're on is for removal (which is opposite). I bet if you flip back a page your first connection begins with the dead positive.

      Yes, Billy, you're right. He's got the manual open to the page on "disconnecting the cables" . I don't know why no one else has clued in on this.

    Great video - but always check the manual for your SPECIFIC vehicle. I have a 2018 6.6L Duramax Diesel. Page 414….CONNECT 1) red positive to dead battery. 2) red positive to good battery. 3) black negative to good battery. 4) black negative to dead battery

    Wish you mentioned the fact that the 2011 Duramax has some kind of hood open safety. I can’t start it while it’s hooked up.

      This is news to me bud? I have a 2011 and experience no such issue on mine or any other I've ever worked on. Sounds like you have some sort of aftermarket device inhibiting start up

    How do I jump start a diesel truck with 3 batteries?

    • @richiestruckandauto7438
      @richiestruckandauto7438  4 года назад

      Place the cables from the host vehicle (w charged batteries) closest to the starter terminals as possible. This way the electron flow doesn't have to pass through 1/2/3 discharged batteries on its way to the starter motor to supply the most amount of current as possible

    My LB7’s batteries were completely dead. I tried hooking the positive on the battery and it failed to start. So I hooked it to the positive under the connection under the ground post. It seemed to charge both batteries. That’s probably why it says Batteries on it.

    You started off with the wrong order. Positive first then negative. When removing reverse order. Sheesh.

    • @richiestruckandauto7438
      @richiestruckandauto7438  10 месяцев назад

      Yes you are correct. The instruction page was for removal not hook up. The procedure is to "reduce" the risk of an arc due to immediate draw. This is only an issue w a flammable source nearby (such as leaking battery) but jump starting shouldn't be your concern if that's the case. NOT sure why it's so surprising to so many people that a simple mistake could be made? It's addressed in the comments but I'm sure you could care less about that? You just want to flex on your knowledge and prove the person that took the time to make the video, incorrect. The basis for the video is starter feed source for varying platforms. Good luck w your trolling 👍

      @@richiestruckandauto7438 Sorry. You're right about my attitude. My son also informed me as we jump started his Cummins diesel yesterday that particular concern is nothing to be concerned about since it's primarily related to older vehicles. I didn't mean to troll. I was having a bad day, and it had to do with diesels. The expense to fix them is astronomical, so my boy is learning to do everything on his own with help from people like you
