Watched the whole video. Thought you were going to diagnose a drain. Common issue for these trucks it seems.

I was told that on a diesel truck it is always better to change both batteries at the same time. True or false?

Eh…. Highly depends on the situation. I’d say if both batteries are over 5 years old or so then yes I’d definitely do both. But if they’re less than say 2 years or so old and one gets a dead cell, just replace the one, it’ll be fine.

Do you have to change out the terminal to add a power cable?

Not sure why everyone insists on changing factory original batteries with knock offs. I have a 2013 Duramax that still has the original GM batteries. Even though I live in Northern Canada where temps are now around - 40 I have had zero starting issues. I am going to change them out anyway as they are almost 10 years old. When I do I will be buying AC delco batteries from my dealer as obviously they last a lot longer. Just for yuks I will test the old ones after I remove them.

Would a bad battery cause surging when I put all of my windows up at the same time? Rpms dip super low and then when I let off the switches it jumps back up to idle. I don’t know if these trucks have a voltage regulator or not.

Could be a few things.... bad battery, bad ground, bad alternator (diodes could be going out)

What reading would you get if it’s bad test on the cables.

On battery cables, anything more than 1/2-3/4 of a volt would be the start of suspicion to me

That secondary Battery placement needs to be relocated as that larger Turbo is smoking the battery with Heat.
Consider moving it to the cab or bed.

Yep, definitely finding that out now as this new battery is already cooked. I’ll be doing an update video on it soon.
