I totally agree with you! They are so sweet and have the best reactions and their take of films too I love their opinions and what they think of the films
I remember watching this film in a theatre and remember quite a few people crying when Apollo died. Quite an arc for the character because I remember people booing him in 1 and 2.
I lived through much of the Cold War. I remember the real Mikhail Gorbachev coming to power and glasnost. Watched Gorbachev lock horns with Reagan, and back down. I remember the Monsters of Rock concert where 4 heavy metal bands from the US played in Moscow in the first rock concert *ever* there and over 1.5 million Russians came. I remember when the Berlin Wall came down. I was in Berlin just a couple of years later as Germany struggled to re-introduce the two halves of their city. The wall was gone, but its route was easy to follow. I remember when the Soviet Union fell, and the short civil war that followed when hard-line Socialists tried to re-establish the Union, and failed. I was in Prague the night Czechoslovakia split into two republics undoing the dsmage the Soviets did forcing them together. I lived that time. This? This is a boilerplate action movie of the type Stallone and Schwarzenegger churned out all through the 80s into the 90s with a very large cheese topping on it. I like the movie for what it is, the arc of Apollo's time, even a bit of redemption for Pauly, and a different kind of training for Rocky. And the destruction of Drago and the arrogance of his handlers. The real symbology is buried way deeper than people usually register. The real subtext is *why* the Russian crowd cheered for Rocky, and it wasn't just his grit.
Stallone recently said that his biggest mistake was killing Apollo off. Apollo would have been confined to a wheelchair but would have became Rocky's new manager.
I watch a lot of these reactor videos and I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH.... IDK why but when Joy says his name or ask him questions it feels so genuine. He gets very passionate at times and so does she but it always feels so welcoming to outsiders. This is my fav "couple" reaction channel i've decided. A lot of them feel fake and yah you two are just great. People out here asking for patreon pretending they never seen a movie before. Not Mjoy you can tell they are legit.
Good God. I just love watching movies with you guys. Nothing fake about you two. You’re the kind of people who we all want to be friends with in real life.
I haven't watched this reaction all the way through but all your reactions of Rocky have been great that's why I subscribed good job! Fantastic energy you guys.... don't stop!
Since you're subscribed, you have a voice, and because of that voice, you should suggest they watch "Million Dollar Baby". That, I would imagine, would be the Mother of all reactions, so far for them.
Another great boxing movie is Cinderella Man (2005), a true story, set during the Great Depression, starring Russell Crowe, Renee Zelwegger, and Paul Giamatti.
ohh nice pick! in terms of drama some movies overpass rocky for sure. in fact Rocky should been more ''action oriented'' but then we wouldn't get attached to the characters
I remember seeing this and the theater being so packed that some folks sat on the steps. This was by far the best one after Rocky. Also, the cold war was at its zenith. So lots of shade going around. Glad you reacted. And that music during the fight. So good!
Death happens in the Ring. It's not very often. Especially these days as refs are stopping fights before they get too far. But in the old days. The Fight game was very brutal. There were bouts that went past 20 rounds. And before Ali, the Heavyweights were mostly toe -toe and very savage. At the Thrilla in Manila. The third Ali v Frazier epic. It was lucky that Frazier's corner stopped the fight when they did. If either fighter went out for the 15th round, there would've been a fatality. Sometimes ferocity can be attractive, until it goes too far. And since you mentioned Bruce Lee. I think it's time this channel did the best fight movie of them all. Enter The Dragon 1973. It's very next level. "Boards don't hit back"
It's so funny that Joy didn't know Sly Stallone starred in Rocky until they reviewed his first Rocky. I watched the first Rocky when it came out in 1976 -- in the Philippines! lolol Thumbs up on a great reaction.
His son Sage played his son in the movie. Sadly he passed away at age 36. Sylvester Stallone is stronger than people can even imagine to carry on after such a loss.
I used to be involved in MMA and fighting is really hard on the wives. You only fight twice a year, so theres so much pressure to win. Losing 1 fight means you're 1 fight away from getting fired. It's such an emotional roller-coaster. The highs of winning and lows of loosing. Then the fear of injury that's always there for the wife but the fighter can never acknowledge.
That was the only Rocky movie we had on VHS back in the day, I´ve seen it at least 100 times... I was so young back there that I didn´t realize that if there´s a Rocky IV that there have to be at least another 3 Rocky films :D
"Me's made of Iron!" What an awesome line! Rocky's skull would be made of granite! The truest thing is that Rocky drags him into deep water and drowns him.
I love watching movies with you, and seeing you experience these films, that I have seen a thousand times, for the first time. You should have experienced these movies at a drive-in back when they were new.
Great reaction.. Marian emotion at seeing Adrian arrive and support Rocky. Speaking as a man I cannot tell you how important this is for us to feel backed and supported by the one you love.. It's overwhelmingly powerful. Marian gets it 👍🏽
One of the best of the Rocky series after this Rocky V is not that great , but Rocky Balboa is just a masterpiece.Keep up the great work you're doing you guys are just great!!!
Trivia: Sylvester Stallone decided that for the shooting of the fight, he and Dolph Lundgren should hit one another for real, so as to increase the intensity of the scene. After doing three takes of Rocky taking shots to ribs, Stallone felt a burning in his chest, but ignored it. Later that night, he had difficulty breathing and was taken to a nearby emergency room. It was discovered that his blood pressure was over 200, and he had to be flown on a low-altitude flight from Canada to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, where he remained in intensive care for four days.
The steroids are good for strength, but bad for endurance. Drago never had to fight 15 rounds, and that was Rocky's skill---he won matches by going the distance.
19:08 I have watched this movie at least twice a year since 1986, I've trained listening to this montage music, I've studied Soviet history and the KGB and that NEVER occurred to me until RIGHT NOW!!! Wowza!
Yes, this is the great Dolph Lundgren who absolutely kills it as a villain with few words. He went on to a have a great career and is one of my favorite action heroes.
This is actually a movie that shows a lot of growth for Rocky. He really doesn't need Adrian's OK anymore to be ALL IN on a fight. And Adrian goes to support him regardless.
While I am certainly no fan of Russia for what I feel should be obvious reasons, the irony of the fact that it was Sylvester Stallone who was caught importing a banned growth hormone into Australia back in 2007 is never lost on me when Rocky 4 comes on. Rocky 4 is also the entry in the series where the franchise jumped the shark.
The Russian boxer is played by Dolph Lundgren a Swedish actor............Lundgren received a degree in chemical engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the early 1980s and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney in 1982. He holds the rank of 4th dan black belt in Kyokushin karate and was European champion in 1980-81.
I had kyokushin instructor in college... He told me about dolph lungren... Sylvester Stallone asked Dolph to hit him hard in the movie... Dolph broke his ribs... Dolph is the real deal
Rocky didn't throw in the towel as Apollo was getting beat. Remember in Rocky II when Rocky said to Mickey, "You stop this fight I'll kill ya'?" Then, he won. That's why he didn't throw in the towel. Rough scene, great reactions!
To answer the question on doing something for what happened to Apollo. Normally they would if there was suspicion of dubious things. One example. One fight in the 1980’s (forgot the names). An aging journeyman took on a young up and comer moving up the ranks. The older fighter won but however his manager removed some of the padding in the gloves and as a result his hits were harder. Caused some major damage to the young fighter who never recovered. Years later died (I think took his own life). The older fighter and his manager were both banned for life. The manager can’t even be at ringside or the arena for fighters he still trains. He wants to watch he must do it by watching on tv
The guy who plays Ivan Drago, Dolph Lundgren, also played the role of He-Man in Masters of the Universe, a live action movie based on the cartoon from the 80s.
BEST REACTORS ON RUclips! Love you guys, you're my favourite and Im so excited for your Rocky journey. Really looking forward to you both watching BALBOA. Tears will flow guys!
Drago kept throwing punches after the round, then he threw the ref across the ring. There's no way he's stopping because Rocky throws in a towel. This was murder
I just discovered you two a few day ago (with Rocky 3) and ever since I've been hoping you'd watch Rocky 4. Thank you for making my night.... *addendum* You're both awesome too.... *second addendum* I have no idea where either of your accents are from, but they both rule....
As a former competitive fighter, there's a section in the contract that states the fight could lead to injury, permanent damage or death. It's why you sign it to say you understand the risks and accept them. There would have definitely been an investigation though as Drago was ignoring the ref and the bell.
God i love yall. One of my favorite reaction channels. Wish i could meet yall. We'd be havin a blast. But i love y'alls hearts and passion. Much love from Tampa....
good review guys, as usual. I remember seeing this the first time you kind of forget its a movie but I guess thats how its supposed to be. Have a good day!
LOL! They are so funny! When she gets really emotionally invested, she gets hilarious! This poor guy doesn't stand a chance! I did enjoy this very much. LOL, watching them is way better than watching the movie!
I´ve met Dolph Lundgren. Crazy smart guy, and really friendly and down to earth. And, unlike Drago, he can talk for hours!
I watch a lot of reactors, but when Joy asked Marian so sweetly what he thinks it felt so warm and loving. You guys are a great couple.
I totally agree with you! They are so sweet and have the best reactions and their take of films too I love their opinions and what they think of the films
Agreed
Yes I agree 💯
awwww thank youu alot for ur appreciation! and the sub-comments down bellow ^_^ have a great weekend!
They have an amazing rapport
one of the greatest lines on movies history: "If he dies, he dies"
I remember watching this film in a theatre and remember quite a few people crying when Apollo died. Quite an arc for the character because I remember people booing him in 1 and 2.
it shows how people can be quick to judge
but then get attached to someone after knowing their character...
i learn that lesson long ago
This is probably my favorite Rocky, I've studied a lot of cold war history & the fight had a lot of symbolism for the time. Great reaction.
it really did!
oh nice avatar picture you got there
I lived through much of the Cold War. I remember the real Mikhail Gorbachev coming to power and glasnost. Watched Gorbachev lock horns with Reagan, and back down.

Dolph Lundgren (Ivan Drago) holds a Masters degree in chemical engineering. He also received a Fulbright scholarship from MIT.
You guys make a great point about them spying on his training. That never crossed my mind but makes complete sense
I’m here in the middle of the United States and love you guys! You are a great couple and enjoy your reactions!
Stallone recently said that his biggest mistake was killing Apollo off. Apollo would have been confined to a wheelchair but would have became Rocky's new manager.
Paulie’s moment with Rocky just before the final fight is one of my favorite moments in the series.
I love your reactions and the way you two talk to each other. It’s so warm and engaging. Thanks for sharing.
Drago really was a glimpse into the future with the klitschko brothers.
I love how genuine your reactions are. I love the chemistry between the two of you. Such a beautiful family
Best Rocky movie ever, best songs, most intense trainings, emotional and brutal.
was very good!
The Rocky movies never get old. I really enjoy your reactions and look forward to watching you finish out the Rocky series.
I watch a lot of these reactor videos and I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH.... IDK why but when Joy says his name or ask him questions it feels so genuine. "You didn't climb the mountains brother!" I don't know why that makes me laugh so much.

@@Orange-Jumpsuit-Time I would if I thought it was a good movie. I'm a former boxer and I didn't like it. The Fighter or Cinderella Man is better.
welcome aboard!
These Rocky reactions have been spectacular. Just the best. Can't wait for Rocky Balboa and Creed!
thank youuuuu!
Dolph put Stallone in the hospital during filming. He was legit.
Exactly, Stallone wasn't legit, even that robot's acting was better.
You 2 have the best reactions and do a very good break down of the movies and catch little things many people may not. You're awesome!
Another great boxing movie is Cinderella Man (2005), a true story, set during the Great Depression, starring Russell Crowe, Renee Zelwegger, and Paul Giamatti.
Yes, that one is better than all the Rocky movies combined.
Clint Eastwood's, "Million Dollar Baby", unsurpassed in all the fight movie genres.
ohh nice pick! in terms of drama some movies overpass rocky for sure. in fact Rocky should been more ''action oriented'' but then we wouldn't get attached to the characters
What an incredible series of movies Rocky delivers us along with creed. Amazing
Oh! I love both your reactions! I can’t wait to see your reaction for Rocky 5!
too bad rocky5 is not good.
No Easy Way Out is my favorite song of all time
I've watched this Rocky so many times when I was a kid! It's one of my favorites! It was really sad about Apollo though!
I remember seeing this and the theater being so packed that some folks sat on the steps. This was by far the best one after Rocky. Also, the cold war was at its zenith. So lots of shade going around. Glad you reacted. And that music during the fight. So good!
This one officially confirmed Rocky as the hardest head in the world, taking punches with the supposed force of Drago's for 15 rounds.
Apollo's trainer to Rocky: "He's not a machine, he's a man!"
Drago to his trainer: "He's not human."
Death happens in the Ring. It's not very often. Especially these days as refs are stopping fights before they get too far. But in the old days. The Fight game was very brutal. "You know what youre going there for." That quote was so gangsta in that accent.
even though rocky V is not the best movie in the franchise it is worth the watch just to understand what happens to rocky after rocky IV.
It's so funny that Joy didn't know Sly Stallone starred in Rocky until they reviewed his first Rocky. I watched the first Rocky when it came out in 1976 -- in the Philippines! lolol Thumbs up on a great reaction.
thank you so much
They trained Drago to punch, but they never trained him to take a punch. Go, Rocky!!
Apollo needed to be loved. That's why he was a fighter. Not for the fighting but for the admiration of the fans. He couldn't live without it.
His son Sage played his son in the movie. Sadly he passed away at age 36. Sylvester Stallone is stronger than people can even imagine to carry on after such a loss.
Sage was in the 5th movie not this one

The truest thing is that Rocky drags him into deep water and drowns him.
"if he dies he dies" that part still gives me the chills
Sylvester Stallone was married in real life to the actress that played Drago's wife!
Love your reactions! It's time for the rest of the series and then the Creeds!!
You guys are the best. The Rocky 4 directors cut is pretty good and changes the tone a little...a little. Thanks for the video.
I love watching movies with you, and seeing you experience these films, that I have seen a thousand times, for the first time. You should have experienced these movies at a drive-in back when they were new.
i subbed to the best duo on youtube
This is my favorite Rocky movie, I love the story and the music.
The second time Rocky and Clubber fought, it went 3 rounds.
These two are awesome together!!!
Rocky throwing In the towel would mean nothing. The ref tried to stop the fight and the Russian threw him off.
Great reaction.. Marian emotion at seeing Adrian arrive and support Rocky. Speaking as a man I cannot tell you how important this is for us to feel backed and supported by the one you love.. It's overwhelmingly powerful. Marian gets it 👍🏽

Yes, this is the great Dolph Lundgren who absolutely kills it as a villain with few words. He went on to a have a great career and is one of my favorite action heroes.
Rocky V Drago!
Best Of The Best!
Don't miss it!

Yes. Dolph is in The Expendables. His character's name is Gunner. He is a great actor and a very strong man.
Drago was a legitimate European kickboxing champ. He accidentally hospitalized Stallone during the filming of this movie.
Love this channel!
This movie single handedly prevented nuclear holocaust!

Another great video! While I'm not too excited for a Rocky V reaction, I'm super excited for a Rocky Balboa reaction.
Between Rambo 3 and Rocky 4 Sylvester Stallone covered all nominations for the Raspy awards that year.
If I can change, everybody can change!
This couple is so amazing! Love their reaction
The guy who plays Ivan Drago, Dolph Lundgren, also played the role of He-Man in Masters of the Universe, a live action movie based on the cartoon from the 80s.
Rocky's plot armour was insane guys😂😂
Awesome reaction!! Enjoyed watching you both, thank u, hope to see more, take care

Crazy fact, Lundgren punched Stalone so hard he ended up in the hospital.
Rest in peace the great Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed)

In professional boxing you have to sign a legal waiver that no one would be held responsible in the case of your death or injury.
