For any other struggling actors in LA, this was Alan Rickman's first major role over the age of 40, and look how well he did. We got this.
he did a great job! i find negative roles to be harder to play.
I always thought Alan Rickman should have gotten an Oscar nomination for his awesome performance. R.I.P. Mr. Rickman.
At the time Die Hard was made Bruce Willis was mostly known to audiences for starring in a romantic comedy detective show on television, playing a slightly nerdy character, and everyone was surprised when he became an action movie hero.
ohhh yesss. i remember being like 8 or so. when this movie hit Romania so late.. probably 10 years after it's release.. everyone was stunned to see the twist of Action this movie took
Yes, the TV show was Moonlighting. But I don't think his character was slightly nerdy. His character was obnoxious and a bit on the douchey side with a heart of gold. The show eventually did have the character named Magillacutty that was a bit on the dorky side.
James Shigeta who played Joe Takagi provided the voice of Li Shang’s father General Li in Mulan (1998).
When Hans fell from the building, the director was supposed to drop him on the count of 3, but he dropped him on 1 instead, just to make his expression more real. He was not happy about that.
Fun Fact: This was Alan Rickman first movie in his entire life.
Wow, he nailed it
@@principellerena Goddamn right he did. He had done stage-work and plays for years prior but this his first film.
#RIP
@@kurtrivero368 he did quite a bit of television work and had on-camera training at this point... still impressive
That piece of trivia always blows my mind. Incredible
He's in Smileys People as a hotel desk clerk.
It isn't Christmas in my house until Hans Gruber falls from the top of the Nakatomi building. 😎 🎄
Fun Fact: Alan Rickman nearly passed up the role of Hans Gruber, which ended up being his first film role. He had only arrived in Hollywood two days earlier and was appalled by the idea of his first role being the villain in an action film. To a degree, Rickman was right to be concerned considering his performance as Hans Gruber was so hailed that the actor had to struggle being typecast as a player of villains for much of his career.
Fun fact: Rickman actually fell into a big airbag, but he was already nervous and they dropped him without telling him…that’s why his reaction is authentic and priceless!😎
You guys are so awesome! I can't believe how much fun this was to watch with you. Godfather, Scarface, now this. Incredible. I can't wait for the posts from this channel. Love you guys!
The last show I saw leaving Europe was Moonlighting, this was the first movie I saw back in America.
One of the greatest action films ever made. Rickman is arguably film's greatest villain. And yes it's a Christmas movie :D
Professor Suttor: I've been working on my screenplay, it's like Die Hard But Set in an office Building.:
Dick Solomon: But Die Hard Was set in an office building.:
Professor Suttor: Up yours.:
Fun Fact: Bonnie Bedelia (Holly)is also Macaulay Culkin's aunt.
ohhh man! we didn't knew that! thx for heads up
Frencis is so witty. She has already knows all of the clues so quickly.
haha.. thanks!
_Die Hard_ and _Die Hard With A Vengence_ are the best IMO. _Die Hard With A Vengence_ being the third installment.
Great reaction! Glad you enjoyed it!
oh yesssssss!! and thank youuuu
I second that notion
The 4th was my favorite with Timothy Olyphant
@@BabyNoah22 Love that actor! Those after the 3rd film haven't stuck with me, I may have to watch them again.
4th is the best after the first one.
Awesome reaction! Maybe my favorite for this movie among the dozen reactors I follow. "Cut it, shoot it, BITE it!" 🤣🤣🤣
This one is the GOAT Die Hard. 3 is great, 4 is also great, 2 is okay, 5...never happened imo.
"Cut it. Shoot it. Bite it!" XD excellent reaction
Hans Gruber never lose his temper , he's so cold and ruthless !
"Yippie I O Kay-ay". Great camera work and plot!
"Even now" :D
"When Bruce Willis had hair" well he had some hair.
"This is the typical kind of movie my mom would _love_ to watch." Yay, Mom! 😝
I never liked violence or bad language but I saw this when it was new and surprised myself, I loved it.
This is my favorite X-mas movie after It's a Wonderful Life.
🎄⛄🎄⛄This is the ultimate Christmas movie.
The woman who played Bruce's wife is actress Bonnie Bedelia (MacCauley Culkin's aunt)
Top 3 action film of all time for me. Pretty much perfect.
This was very fun to rewatch and your reactions are just as I reacted when I was little, keep up the reactions!
Fantastic reaction! Although, I love the first 3 ''Die Hard'' Movies, I'm a more of a ''Lethal Weapon'' fan than a '''Die Hard'' fan, and the first ''Lethal Weapon'' movie is actually also a Christmas movie. Greetings from the Netherlands.
This debate was put the rest when the studio announced it is a Christmas movie because it was a Christmas theme, and was marketed as such.
"Wow this movie was made a year before I was born"
Me: I saw it in the theater when it came out.
Newest Christmas tradition? it's not Christmas until John McLain jumps off of the Nakatomi building!
Such a fun reaction! Happy holidays!
Great reaction 🤣! This is one of my favorite movies 🎬!I went to see this with a friend when I was a junior in college.
I love this flick. And I love this video just as much. Thank you so much for this.
The cop got his own tv show after this and the sequel. I think it was called Family Matters.
This is one of the greatest action movie series of all time and this reaction was golden. This is top notch story and movie making right here. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to the sequel.
If you forget everything after the 3rd one, sure.
@@DanJackson1977 You definitely got a point there. lol. 🤣 I’m only counting the one’s where Bruce Willis got hair!! lol 😂
Joy is never wrong in her predictions.
1. Karl/Alexander Godunov(RIP) also played in "The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks and "Witness" with non Indiana/Solo Harrison Ford.
He had a very interesting story.
2. Robinson/Paul Gleason(RIP) seems to always play buttheads. I.e. "Trading Places" and "The Breakfast Club".
3. At least John will have a place to stay tonight😍😋😎
4. Another fun Willis movie that have similar events is "The Last Boy Scout". They drop more F-bombs that you can shake a stick at.
Including a little girl.
you guys shoud react to lethal weapon as well, another great christmas movie to end the month.
I just added Lethal Weapon to my Christmas watch list a few years ago. A good buddy buddy cop film. Not exactly a holiday film, but does take place during Christmas.
Two naive RUclips viewers are about to enter the Die Hard Zone. As "John McClane" travels from New York to California, this song is on his mind: ruclips.net/video/wYHleFFhlFk/видео.html Get into Argyle's limousine far a trip to the Nakatomi Plaza building and The Christmas Party From Hell. Let's make a "Christmas Cake." Take one "TV guy," add a stage actor, fold in a screenplay worthy of Action Adventure movies of the day, bake in an improvised oven heated by flaming C4, finally, garnish with 9mm bullets. "Detective John McClane" is an icon because: He isn't a "Rambo clone," takes damage, has moments of fear/humor/introspection, has a working class back story, and is "half dead on his feet" by the last quarter of the movie. So, "Christmas doesn't begin until 'Hans Gruber' falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building.";)
When gruber falls outside the building, the actor actually did that
whaaat?? for real?
Some faves of mine you didn't see (I'm 75);
1. Sling Blade
2. Forbidden Planet
3. Road House
4. Odd Thomas
5. The Game
6. Warrior (2011)
7. Purgatory (western 1999)
8. Tombstone (1993)
9. Clockwork Orange
10. Being There
The first 3 movies are great. Just pretend the other ones don't exist.
to be honest i dont remember watching the others
@@MJoy4Fun The third one with Samuel L Jackson is so good
Saw this on a first date with a girl named Debbie at a theater in Chelsea, NYC. I knew it would be a classic as early as the Run-DMC drop. The best line in the movie is when the clueless detective remarks about McClane: "Who knows who the hell this guy is... he could be a bartender." This was probably a dig at Willis only being known, at the time, for 'Moonlighting' and for bartending in the city under the pseudonym "Bruno." True story. BTW this came out in the summer of '88. Why it was set around Christmas is anybody's guess. You guys should check out 'The French Connection.' It has to be in the top ten of best movies ever made.
One of the best action films ever made.
this or raiders, the 2 best ever.
Did you guys notice the actor who played Hans is Alan Rickman who played Severus Snape on the Harry Potter movies?
This is a classic movie hell yeah yo !!!🥶😎
Watched this at the cinema in 1988 and people in the theater went wild.
It’s a Christmas movie cuz they played the series on tv at Christmas, there were other options to watch at the time but I’ll take action packed over sappy love stories ANY day like titanic or forest gump-also Christmas movies to my age group gen x…at least die hard 1&2 happens at Christmas in the movie😎✌️🖖🍻
yess. home alone and die hard. the classic movies for christmas! miss the old days...
They still play this on Finnish tv every christmas.
Wait til you see the next one! 😎
I was never much into action heroes, all stiff upper lip and showing no pain even after they'd been shot several times. This was a revelation: a hero who's afraid and shows it and is hurt and shows it - a real human being.
lol when I saw that this was going to be shown on British TV, I thought that, once they'd cut all the swearing out, it'd be the first ten-minute feature film ever! or would have more bleeps than actual dialogue.
This is my first time watching your channel and I subscribed . This is a great reaction and commentary for "Die Hard" I enjoyed this very much. I am looking forward to watching more of your others reactions and commentary . Although this was Alan Rickman's first movie he had the lead role in "Rasputin" in which won him his only Golden Globe and Emmy for that character . He had won many other awards throughout his career and even directed a couple of films . I appreciate your reactions for this very much and I hope you both had a very Merry Christmas .
Hope you guys had some good noche buena! Merry Christmas!
You said about the Godfather that the old movies are the best. You should see some Kubrick films. Full Metal Jacket, 2001 a Space Odyssey, The Shining, Barry Lyndon, Doctor Strangelove, etc. Check out a couple, please!
we will!!! thank you for ur suggestion!!
@@MJoy4Fun Barry Lyndon is boring
I don’t recommend it haha
It's so much fun watching you guys react keep making videos merry Christmas and happy new year to you
Great reaction. Thus is my second favourite movie of all time. I much prefer action scenes in films like this to more recent films.
Hans Gruber...the 2nd best villain I'm cinematic history. 2nd to Darth Vader. Good company.
You should definitely do Die Hard 2, which is probably even better than the first one.
you guys are fun to watch.
I'm never going to get over to patreon but I'm going to keep nagging you to watch Robert Redford's mountain man movie "Jeremiah Johnson" 1972.
thank youuuu!! it means alot to us if you come here and drop a comment ^_^ we just added ur suggestion on our list!!
@@MJoy4Funthanks. I mentioned it a couple of months ago, that's why I'm going to 'keep nagging' you - it's not a typical western and I'm positive you will like it a lot.
BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVER MADE!! It made $150 Million Dollars against a 40 million dollar budget. It was nominated for Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing but lost all those to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
It's Rambo in a skyscraper and speaking of Rambo several action stars were considered for John McClane:
Sylvester Stallone
Harrison Ford
Charles Bronson
James Caan
Richard Gere
Patrick Swayze
Paul Newman
Clint Eastwood
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Richard Dean Anderson
Robert DeNiro
Dustin Hoffman
Robert Redford
Warren Beatty
And
Al Pacino
Best of the series.
12:31 This was an inside joke. Back when Bruce Willis was trying to break into acting, he supported himself by working...as a bartender.
So now that you've seen it you can see why we all say that's a Christmas 🎄 movie 🎬 the whole thing with the exception of about ten minutes takes place at a Christmas 🎄 party and the sprinkled just enough references to Christmas things like " now I have a machine gun ho ho ho " and others like Hans telling Theo " it's Christmas it's the season of miracles " when they were waiting on the FBI to turn off the power and others
You guys were great!
It's not a Christmas movie. It's a Christmas themed movie. Don't care what any schmendrick says otherwise.
My Fav reactors 👏👏👏❤️ 👑 🌞
A Christmas classic
This one especially but all of them take places at Christmas 🎄 time but this one all but a few minutes take place at a Christmas 🎄 party
I didnt need another react channel, and couples channels are usually awful, but you guys are growing on me. Good channel! game over, man.
Welcome aboard! haha oh yesss!! GAME OVER!!! and thx for dropping by!!
Second one good too but it is bloodier, gorier and more disturbing, to put it simply if someone looks sympathetic chances are high that he's gonna be dead... you're warned :)
ohhh boyyy!! we will watch it!! hahaha
now, Die Hard 2 and 3
This is a Christmas movie
Love the show you 2 have great Chemistry
👏👏👏👏👏 great reaction
Next year you can watch Die Hard 2. It's also considered a Christmas movie.
I just noticed that Hans' bullet hole didn't show when he was about to fall off the building.
The TV news journalist was also a jerk because he risked Holly and John's lives by revealing their identities.
This might be the greatest action movie of all time. Unfortunately not the best sequels though.
Great movie. You should watch the sequel which is even more a Christmas movie and of course It's a wonderful Life the ultimate Christmas movie. Another great underrated action Christmas movie you should see is Reindeer games 2000 with Ben Affleck. no one react to it yet.
The guy in your thumbnail it looks like you think John McClane is “DREAMY.”
Bruce Willis was a bartender before he was an actor. That’s why that joke went over your heads.
Do Cyborg 1989..underrated action movie..one of Van Damme's better movies
#2, 3 & 4 also very good
The best action movie
20:57 and i thought lens flare was a product of modern films.
Please react to The Green Mile and Forest Gump, both with Tom Hanks and Leon the Professional, ( the directors cut ) and V for Vendetta! Lethal Weapon is a great christmas movie also!
He's was in Quigley down under whith Tom Selleck
With all these Mafia movies recently I sense Goodfellas coming up soon!.... looking forward to it :)
For next: Die Hard 2, this time in an airport. It´s more violent yes. and more gore.
But also cut for the R Rating.
Damn classic 👊🏼
Alguém jogando Far Cry 5😘😘😘😘😘😘🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸
23:34 LMAO
Part 2 is good but not the best. Part 3 however, Die Hard With A Vengeance, is my personal favorite. You could skip to 3 and stop there honestly. They're all good but not great like 1 and 3.
You know I swear he had a white vest on in the beginning ?
Who did? And do you mean vest -american (waistcoat) or vest -british (undershirt)?
If you mean John McClane, it's 🤍 in the beginning, but quickly filthy and dark/grey from crawling on floor, through ventilation duct, up elevator shafts, etc.
U 2 are 😎
React to The Terminator 1984!!!
Sicario is a movie you should both watch
Still waiting on “Jean de Florette” and “Manon of the spring”. Puts all these other movies to shame.
ohhh yess. we added them on our ''to-do-list'' thx for the suggestion
@@MJoy4Fun I wouldn’t steer you wrong! These are hidden classics!
Like I said, astute.
The sequel is not that good. But one or two of the others is not that bad.
the FBI in real life is just as bad as in this movie. maybe worse.
