The scary part is what an absolute sweetheart he comes across as when he's not in his villain mode. When you see him in a more sympathetic role, like the heroine's dad in the "Blacklist" series, you wouldn't believe it's the same guy, if his face hadn't been so recognizable.
Miss Bruce Willis on the screen. He has given us good performances and he has great comebacks. Use to love watching him in Moonlighting. Wish him the best. By the way the actress who plays Holly is Macauley Culkin’s real aunt.

Dennis Franz plays the Airport Police Captain. He also played NYPD Detective Andy Sipowicz in NYPD Blue. He has perhaps the greatest character arc of any television character of all time. He appeared in every episode of the shows 12 season run from 1993-2005. The only actor that came close to this was Gordon Clapp who was in 256 out of 261 episodes as Detective Greg Medavoy.

Die Harder is probably one of the best sequels to a franchise. There's honestly not one bad thing I can find to say about his film. As you guys said, it took everything from part 1 and elevated that. It definitely did it's job as a sequel.
@@KevinBrown-sv3kq I don´t know why everyone says 3 is better. No one ever could explain me why. i saw Part 2 3 times in Cinema in 1990. i never really liked Part 3 that much then the first 2 Movies.
Bruce willis, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson, Robert Patrick, Franco Nero, William Sadler, John Amos, Dennis Franz, Art Evans, Fred Thompson did a phenomenal job in this movie
I’m reluctant to refer to anything as “the best” in general, as that’s such a subjective viewpoint, so I’ll simply say that I believe you’re seriously going to enjoy the third entry in the series- “Die Hard With a Vengeance”. The story is fantastic, and the cast is nothing short of legendary. I’ll spoil nothing, and leave it at that. You two are phenomenal btw. Im not one to watch reactions frequently, but the way that you two actually interpret what you’re watching, and see it well beyond face value is a very big breath of fresh air. I applaud you for that.
"Die hard with a vengeance" is a stupid, inflated, generic action movie that should never have been released under the "Die hard" monicker. You couldn't possibly spoil that movie, it's such a big turd that not even the great Samuel L.Jackson can save it.
@@erikthompson619 do you have some kind of personal stake in that film? You’ve jumped on more than one comment here dropping enough salt to clear snow off of an interstate highway. What’s the story? You’ve got to keep in mind, taste is a very subjective thing. Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean it’s bad. Just because you do like something, doesn’t mean it’s good. It’s all up to personal interpretation and connection to the subject matter. I follow TMK because I resonate with and appreciate the way they “see” the films they watch. They see things well beyond surface level. They truly seek to understand what they’re watching, and if you pay attention, you see very little (if any) negativity coming from them. Too much of that being spread around these days. It’s a much needed, and a very welcomed escape from all that. Taking a page from their book may not be the worst idea. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Obviously the original Die Hard is a classic and so unique but man, I've always had such a soft spot for this film. It's generally quite an underrated sequel I think. Great pacing, great action sequences, fantastic chemistry between the actors and of course Bruce Willis just living that iconic character.
Glad you enjoyed the movie. I believe when the movie was coming out and they were showing the trailer, they showed the scene where McClain ejects from that plane. That scene alone and what happened with the first movie is all it took to sell DH2. Great reaction folks!
Although this isn't quite as good as the first one, I will never forget seeing it at the cinema when it was new, I was 15 at the time. Fast paced and humorous, I think it's still entertaining and a great fun ride.
Yep! For some movies, it was great - T2, Jurassic Park...but for most..it was really torture...imagine having to sit through 'Bio Dome' or 'Problem Child 2" 90 times. lol @@silvernova354
Minor facts. The actor that plays Cpt. Lorenzo was Chicago PD then went to Hill St. Blues. The Airport Manager was in Hunt For Red October, then became a US Senator from Tennessee.
90s action heroes competed in different categories, box-office, biggest explotion, most bad ass kills, and one liners.. Bruce to me was always the funniest
I have been binging your channel for two days. I watched my favorite movies that you watched and it was incredible to see them through your fan/experienced eyes. It was fascinating. I went to school with many people who are in the entertainment industry. After watching you, I feel like I can talk to them with more experience. Thank you. I’m a fan.
These are the movies that I think put Bruce Willis on par with all the other action stars of that era like VanDamme, Arnold, and Stallone... But the thing that sets John McClane apart is the fact that he's not some hulking figure, killer soldier, or martial arts expert. He's a just regular guy which makes him feel much more relatable and real, and the fact that he has those moments where he's thinking out loud and talking to himself just makes it better.
Being from an aviation background....and shooting sports as one of my hobbies, I couldn't suspend my disbelief for this one! I like die hard 3 much better.
I don't have an aviation background and it's tough for me. I somehow knew even as a kid that these planes would have had an alternate airport in their flight plans. I think it was from reading the manual and messing around with MS Flight Simulator 2.
13:45 You might not have gotten this, but when he says "Just the fax, ma'am", it was a reference to the 1960's tv cop show "Dragnet". The main character, Detective/Sgt. Joe Friday, was known for saying variations of the phrase "Just the facts, ma'am/sir" when a witness would ramble irrelevant information or opinions. The phrase made its way into pop culture and parody.
Great Reaction..... Timeline Note: "Die Hard: With a Vengance" actually happens between 1 & 2...... Also it is not at Christmas time...... Over-Looked Joke/Nod..... When John is Sending/Receiving the Fingerprints.... He replies "Just the Fax...".... This is nod to the 1960's TV Show Dragnet.... where the Detective Main Character's catch phrase when interviewing witnesses is.... "Just the Facts, Ma'am/Sir...."
The actor of Col. Stuart always reminds me of one of the inmates in the, in my opinion, best movie ever made, Shawshank Redemption. When they tarred the roof and he wanted to give Andy a beer... timeless classic and indeed a beautiful movie.
There's a Christmas advent calendar of Nakatomi Plaza where Hanz... bubby... falls from the penthouse counting down. Ho ho ho, now I have a machine gun. Merry F-ing Christmas pal.
The scene of the fight at the airport in the snow was filmed across the street from my alternative high school in Central Washington. And yes, it was really snowing then. The day before we saw the crew set up for the night shoots. Faculty wouldn't let us go across to get a good shot of anyone famous, so we just watched from our building.
To make a point, John often seems to get no cooperation because of jurisdictional differences. In the first one he was a cp from NY in LA, and in this one it's reversed (which makes no sense for Holly to be flying in to see him in NY if he was an LAPD cop), plus you have Airport Police plus the FAA, and the military involved. John has no authority or input in the matter, so the remarks about no civilians in the tower would be realistic. Most people don't notice the blue and red tape around the magazines. Die Hard was a Christmas movie because it takes place at an office Christmas party.
GREAT MOVIE!! LETS GOOO!! 💪😎💪 They filmed some if this at Dulles International Airport (IAD) which is right by where I grew up! As a kid I remember all the excitement around here locally about the filiming 😅
@31:37 Major clue as to Grant’s true intentions. He quickly grabbed the piece of paper and said that they have positive I.D. on Stuart’s location without taking any time to verify that information with Lorenzo.
FUN FACT: The steely eyed villain is the Dad of those poor 2 little girls in Green Mile. 😉 Loved your reaction... you are on a fast track to becoming my favourite reaction channels! 💯👍
When I got this movie on VHS, I watched it over and over. At first, I was disappointed McTiernan didn't return as the director here, but Renny Harlin did a great job, as well as in 'Cliffhanger'.
He talked about the problems he developed due to the fame from T2 and the negative effect it had on his career. I'm glad he managed to pull it back to a successful TV career later.
While it looked cool, I always laugh at how huge the plane explodes even though they clearly said, it was empty on fuel. Also, how John is kicked off the plane before the fuel starts to spill, and it’s trail is conveniently an inch in front of him, so he can light it without setting himself on fire! Still a great movie.
because john did NOT fall straight down, as did the fuel, and 2 he had teh fuel cap which means it woudlnt have started flowing for at least a second or 2
I remember when this movie came out, "they" made a big deal about the fact this had the highest fatality rate at that time. I mean, if you just count the people in the British plane crash, the number became huge right off the bat.
A few thoughts... I used to work in the mailroom at the headquarters of a major bank. We had a metal detector just like they use at airports (looking for explosives or other bad stuff people might send to banks in the mail)... during training they showed us the scene from this movie where McClean says a ceramic gun won't set off metal detectors. The instructor said the machines don't look for METAL, they show different DENSITIES, so it doesn't matter if it's steel, ceramic, or plastic, if it's dense enough to be a gun, it'll show up. Die Hard is a Christmas Movie. Die Hard 2 is not. I can't explain it. William Sadler is such a good actor. One of those guys who's been in EVERYTHING and he's always good. Great video. Thanks guys. And Merry Christmas!
Die Hard is without a doubt a Christmas film, which makes Die Hard 2 even MORE of a Christmas movie……..’What the hell……it’s Christmas!!’ And big props to William Sadler…….just compare his performance as Colonel Stewart to the character he plays in The Shawshank Redemption.
This was the best reaction, mainly because I've never watched it with someone translating the german in real time, it's a nice addition lol thank you Denise 😎
William Sadler plays the main villain and is a fabulous character actor. One of my favorite performances is "Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight". You guys should check that one out, with hum, a young Jada Pinkett and Billy Zane. Great horror comedy!

When they used to show this movie on TV in the 90s, instead of bleeping out Bruce Willis’ famous line, “Yippie ki-yay mf,” they dubbed over it with, “Yippie ki-yay Mister Falcon!” Me and my friends still laugh about how ridiculous that was to this day 😂

Another really good film that he's in (albeit a smaller part) is Man On A Ledge (2012). Excellent suspense movie!
He was also in the very first episode of Tales from the Crypt. The Man Who Was Death. I shouldn’t have been watching that at my age, but I loved it. (After attempting to work through my fear of the crypt keeper) 😂😂😂 He was so good in that episode.
You guys are great at reactions! You're what the Reel Rejects used to be... they've become a channel that almost makes fun of the movies they react to nowadays... there's no constructive critiquing at all its very passive aggressive! You guys review the movie for what it is and appreciate all the handwork that goes into making every scene from the camera direction, music scores, sound design and the even the subtle nuances of how the actors convey their morality and drive. It's great to see in a review these days! Great job guys!
You guys are the best movie reactors I've seen! You're nsightful, catch details, appreciate cinematography, and are entertaining but not over the top fake like others. Keep doing what you're doing! Just subscribed! And I don't subscribe to much!!
Simon says: u gotta watch the next one!
Oh! We're definitely watching!
William Atherton (Thornburg) is also in Ghostbusters. You should watch that movie too.
Ohhh yes, we need to check that one out too! Definitely adding it to our list!
He's also in Real Genius with Val Kilmer. An "excellent" B comedy from the 80's. It's a moral imperative!
Also had a nice sized part as a good guy in the miniseries Centennial
@@OfficialMediaKnightsHe could have been an action star in his own right, back in the '70's: he starred opposite a young Goldie Hawn in one of her - and Steven Speilberg's first films, "The Sugarland Express".
A must see.
i only recently noticed that the actor playing the badass Col. Stewart plays the total opposite, Heywood in Shawshank Redemption
And William Sadler, who played Colonel Stuart, also played Heywood in The Shawshank Redemption.
You two are great. Much respect for your reactions and keen analysis to what made these films what they were and what they are and your overall appreciation for cinema in general. Definitely two of the most genuine reactors on RUclips. You have a subscriber in me.
Die Hards 1-4 are all so much fun, I love seeing reactions to them. Keep it up you two!
Great reaction! Can't wait for Die Hard 3 and 4 too. They're all good!
Bruce Willis is one of the OG heroes from the 90s. Love him in the Die Hard movies!
Best baddy deaths ever. Audiences stood up a cheered when the plane explodes.
I think Col. Stewart's getaway plane was also packed from nose to tail with C4 when it exploded LOL!
Cannot wait to see your reaction to die hard 3!
It’s the best die hard ever made! Same director as the first die hard
It’s superbly written, visually shot, acted and edited.
Once again another fun reaction. Even your light criticisms are spot on and insightful. Love you guys and your obvious love of film making. Please keep going.
3:20 Denise: Eyyy He's back! (Is this a terminator reference that went totally over Aris head?) Nice one mate *fistbumps*
One of my 3 favorite movies of all time. That atmosphere is unbeatable.
Totally recommend Red and Red 2 if you haven’t watched them. Very fun and underrated Bruce Willis action movies
Die Harder is probably one of the best sequels to a franchise. There's honestly not one bad thing I can find to say about his film. As you guys said, it took everything from part 1 and elevated that. It definitely did it's job as a sequel.
Absolutely!! We had such a fun time with this one, it really did its predecessor justice!
Except maybe the 15 minutes it took for the grenade to explode......
Movie is bad.
3 is fantastic though
Yes! Die Hard 2, Lethal Weapon 2, Terminator 2 and Aliens are some of the best Sequels ever made, if you only look at before 2000 Movies.
@@KevinBrown-sv3kq I don´t know why everyone says 3 is better. No one ever could explain me why. i saw Part 2 3 times in Cinema in 1990. i never really liked Part 3 that much then the first 2 Movies.
Except that everything to do with airplanes and ATC is idiotic BS. It is nowhere near as good as the first or third films.
8:39 - "that's a really bad way to go, man."
Me: "just wait until the icicle scene later."
Oh yup! The deaths in this kept escalating 😂
Absolutely. IMO Die Hard 3 is the pinnacle of the series.
@@nth_to_see_here definitely one hell of a ride!
21:12 The pilot is O'Brien from DS9 😂
Colm Meaney 😁
Obviously the original Die Hard is a classic and so unique but man, I've always had such a soft spot for this film. It's generally quite an underrated sequel I think. Great pacing, great action sequences, fantastic chemistry between the actors and of course Bruce Willis just living that iconic character.
"Is that a pager? A beeper?" God I feel so old 😁
Haahha sorry that was definitely not our intention!!. Which one is it though??
They're both the same thing.😊
You? I grew up before pagers were invented. Rotary phone on a cord and carried change for the pay phone everywhere.
So cool to see Robert Patrick just before his Terminator2 fame at 18:30 onwards, intense as ever even if for just one minute or so...
Glad you enjoyed the movie. I believe when the movie was coming out and they were showing the trailer, they showed the scene where McClain ejects from that plane. That scene alone and what happened with the first movie is all it took to sell DH2.
Great reaction folks!
William Sadleris an awesome Bad Guy and an awesome Good Guy. He's an excellent actor. His portrayal of the Cold Bad Guy Boss is excellent.
Although this isn't quite as good as the first one, I will never forget seeing it at the cinema when it was new, I was 15 at the time. Fast paced and humorous, I think it's still entertaining and a great fun ride.
I was 16, a movie usher, got to watch it 100 times....lol
@@fightingidiocy7724 Damn! You must have known it line for line back then. 😁
Yep! For some movies, it was great - T2, Jurassic Park...but for most..it was really torture...imagine having to sit through 'Bio Dome' or 'Problem Child 2" 90 times. lol
@@silvernova354
One of my favorite lines in this movie "McClean! You're just the wrong guy, at the wrong place, at the wrong time"
"Story of my life" lol
Love Dennis Franz, he was epic in NYPD Blue..
Minor facts. The actor that plays Cpt. Lorenzo was Chicago PD then went to Hill St. Blues. The Airport Manager was in Hunt For Red October, then became a US Senator from Tennessee.
Then NYPD blue
The long version of the 20th Century Fox Fanfare is only used on CinemaScope (2.40:1) movies. The short version is for Vista (1.85:1) movies.
LETS GOOO!! 💪😎💪
They filmed some if this at Dulles International Airport (IAD) which is right by where I grew up! As a kid I remember all the excitement around here locally about the filiming 😅
Whaaat, that must have been so cool to experience! Hope you enjoy our reaction!
Glad ya'll liked! 😁 Great reaction!! 👍😎👍Hopefully you guys do #3 and #4! 😊😁
Loved your reaction... you are on a fast track to becoming my favourite reaction channels! 💯👍
When I got this movie on VHS, I watched it over and over. At first, I was disappointed McTiernan didn't return as the director here, but Renny Harlin did a great job, as well as in 'Cliffhanger'.
Shout out to Robert Patrick in a minor role. He would later go onto star in Terminator 2 and Xfiles tv show. He is one of my favorite actors.
Still a great movie.
because john did NOT fall straight down, as did the fuel, and 2 he had teh fuel cap which means it woudlnt have started flowing for at least a second or 2
Oxygen tanks on every plane would blow too wouldn't it?
Minute 38:59, that's exactly the right reaction at that moment, I hate when reactors doesn't react to one of the coolest scenes in movies ever...
The guy in charge of the tower that actually listened to John is actually Senator Fred Thompson in real life. I believe he passed a few years ago.
"To live and die in LA" A must see masterpiece in film.
Willem Dafoe was fire in that! The music too!!!
I guess everybody noticed when John McClane goes over to use the phone, the phones read Pacific Bell although they're supposed to be in Washington DC
I remember when this movie came out, "they" made a big deal about the fact this had the highest fatality rate at that time. I mean, if you just count the people in the British plane crash, the number became huge right off the bat.
If you ever want to see Alan Rickman using some comical chops try "Dogma" by Director Kevin Smith❤❤😂😂
Bruce did so many great movies. "Last Man Standing", "Die Hard" movie series, "RED"....
You guys remind me of my own lighting setup from the 2007's and so forth. Glowing warmth with no headaches.
Die Hard is without a doubt a Christmas film, which makes Die Hard 2 even MORE of a Christmas movie……..’What the hell……it’s Christmas!!’
And big props to William Sadler…….just compare his performance as Colonel Stewart to the character he plays in The Shawshank Redemption.
This was the best reaction, mainly because I've never watched it with someone translating the german in real time, it's a nice addition lol thank you Denise 😎
Can’t wait for Die Hard with a Vengeance 😊
William Sadler plays the main villain and is a fabulous character actor. One of my favorite performances is "Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight". You guys should check that one out, with hum, a young Jada Pinkett and Billy Zane. Great horror comedy!
What a ride. I completely forgot what the plot was on this movie so it was great watching your reaction.
Awesome Movie and Work Guys, Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Great job! If you think that this one was a problem solving one, wait till the next one. You're going to be blown away and I'm looking forward to it. Great job guys as usual
Wishing Bruce Willis all the best. Grew up with him on the screen.
Bruce saying "Just the facts maam" was a tip for Jack Webb in Dragnet. A very good old TV show.
When they used to show this movie on TV in the 90s, instead of bleeping out Bruce Willis’ famous line, “Yippie ki-yay mf,” they dubbed over it with, “Yippie ki-yay Mister Falcon!” Me and my friends still laugh about how ridiculous that was to this day 😂
When/If you rewatch this, pay close attention to the color of the electrical tape on the magazines of the guns.
Great timing. I rewatched your DH1 reaction a second time this morning 😁
'Die Hard: With a Vengeance' next. Possibly the best one. Can't wait for you to see that!
I've always felt Col. Stewart was the coldest villain of all the Die Hard series.
Never seen it, but always here to support ❤️
That's so sweet of you, thank you for always showing up for us, we appreciate you!
The last boy scout- Bruce Willis , could be a good one for you to do 🙂
Nice reaction guys 👍👍
My father passed away November 17th. We watched Die Hard and Die Hard 2 every Christmas....and Reindeer Games...all Christmas movies. Case closed.
I was waiting for you guys to react to this !) such a great follow up from the last one.
He just seems to know what is gonna happen next. It's almost like he read the script. 😆 🤣 😂
I always seem to catch this movie before flying. Heck im watching this at an airport...
