Actually, they're all worth watching. It also makes no sense skipping any of them as they are all interconnected and they offer several callbacks that are necessary to fully understand the Creed movies and develop more emotional attachment to the characters. I hope people hating on V and Balboa will quit advising reactors to skip the films... It's too immature and disrespectful! Give them the chance to experience everything as we all have. I personally liked ALL the films in the franchise. Maybe they would like them too as most of the other reactors did.
May Carl Weathers Rest In Peace . He was an amazing Apollo Creed. “ Without some challenge without some damn warrior then the warrior might as well be dead stallion “ Apollo Creed 1985 :)
Well he almost quit because Dolph Lundgren was being too rough. Sly had a similar experience, basically his chest caved in and he had to spend a few days in ICU.
As someone who loves the original and hasn’t seen the ultimate cut, this is awesome, I prefer all the little details they put back into it. I’ve seen the theatrical version so many times I can tell you every single thing that was added in and it provides so much better context to the story In my opinion than the original version did. Rocky V gets 💩 on by so many but it’s a great 90’s action flick if you remind yourself of the time in which it came out you’ll understand the cheese in it and hopefully enjoy it. I would say definitely do it even if you end up hating it at the very least I think you’ll understand why they had to make the 6th movie.
The director’s cut feels more in line with the tone of the other Rocky films, and the sound design and quality, and the picture quality are all top notch. Definitely watch with surround sound and HDR if possible.
This movie shows how much Rocky loved Apollo. Regardless of the fact that he was retired and that at the beginning even Adriana did not believe that he could win and that he knew that there was a high possibility that this duel with Drago would be the last thing in his life, he went to Moscow and won on a foreign field against the giant who killed his best friend. Well, that means being a true friend !
YES! Rocky IV soundtrack is the BEST score to workout to, hands down. It’s been in my “Workout” playlist for 17 years. Vince DiCola (composer) painted a musical masterpiece that captured the angst of the entire film. He also did the Transformers: The Movie score (1986).
Against Dolph Lundgren to be correct. But he asked him to be punch for real. Wasn't the best idea since Lundgren is both bigger and also an actual martial artist. Was european champion in Kyokushin Karate.
Drago's wife in this movie was Bridgette Neilson who was Sylvester Stallone's real wife at the time. In their divorce she wanted half of the money he made from his Rocky movies. She said those characters were created during their marriage therefore she is entitled to a cut..Rambo movies 🎬 also.
Now stallone has lost the rights to all the Rocky movies, unless something has recently changed. One of, if not the reason he isn’t in creed 3. Think it was the producer from creed who stole them.
Definitely watch Rocky V and Rocky Balboa guys ! And yes the car Montage was in the original theatrical version but the flashbacks were in color in that version...... and the movies you were thinking about is the 'Expendables' series.
Exhibitions never seemed to go Apollo's way. The first Rocky - for Apollo - was to put on a good show, make some money, send the crowd home, and the ego was satisfied. Instead, they were both beat into a lengthy hospital stay. Rocky IV was an exhibition as well. Only this time Creed is beaten into a grave.
The debate over the Rocky statue were between art museum who saw it as art and the city's art commission who saw it as a movie prop. They compromised by moving it to the side of the museum. Others brought up the fact the city was maintaining a statue of a fictional character, yet the city's first heavyweight champion Joe Frazier wasn't recognized until after his death... As far as Apollo he was based off of Muhammad Ali.. When Ali created the rope-a-dope style, it was against George Foreman. A fight his own team was scared he'd be killed in. He would dance around and box, then retreat to the ropes and protect his head while letting Foreman tire himself out punching on his body. While this was going on Ali was messing with his head by talking to him and rallying the crowd between rounds.
"Movie prop" or not it seems rather arrogant of Philadelphia's Art Commission to disrespected a fictional character that inspires hope in people and is an Icon of independence, guts, romance, and kindness.. almost like they're jealous a fake person makes them look better than they do.
The Statue is still in Philadelphia. It is just at the Spectrum, a sports complex in South Philadelphia. It wasn't just that he wasn't a real person, but that of a movie prop.
Stallone's ex-wife (Brigitte Nielsen) portrayed Drago's wife in this film, and Sly removed a bunch of her scenes/ dialogue for the director's cut... Some of which were actually quite important exposition and development for Drago's character. I love Sly, but what an extremely petty move lol
Well to be fair, she also wanted half his Rocky earnings in the divorce because she alleged he created fhe characters while they were married. But I could swear I've read rhat Stalone was homeless when he wrote the first Rocky so...that would've been before they got married, no? Idk
You think they wouldn't let sly climb that mountain. It's the same dude that jumped of a mountain and landed in the trees and broke his ribs for his movie Rambo
I'd say Rocky 5 is underrated, but not among my favorites but still worth seeing. Rocky 6 is great! Stallone talked about his ideas for Rocky 7, but that was rejected by the powers that be to make the Creed movies and move the franchise into a different direction. Expendables is the franchise you were thinking about. Part 4 is coming out soon. You may already have been told by now, but there are 2 versions of this movie. During the early parts of the pandemic, Stallone recut this alternate version of the movie from the theatrical version, putting back some deleted scenes and taking out some other scenes he felt were more "goofy" and silly and what Stallone said made it look more like a music video. But, he did keep a lot of the music and some other stylized things. He did add some more flashback stuff for when Rocky is driving his Lamborghini, but the original theatrical version did have flashbacks too, but he decolorized some of the flashback stuff, as far as I can remember. He also changed some of the sound FX of the punches to sound more realistic and make the fights sound more intense. Though, in my opinion, the original theatrical version was pretty intense and dramatic all on its own and did not need any "punching up" (pun intended). Stallone said he wanted to remake a more dramatic version of the film that fit more seamlessly with the other Rocky films and he wants to or will plan to do the same thing for Rocky 5. In my opinion, this alternate version is more dramatic, but I would not say is better. I actually wish he had kept some of the scenes he took out of the theatrical version, even though I also liked some of the more dramatic scenes he also added back in. I still prefer the theatrical version more and would recommend you see that version at some point. LOL, I'd say Stallone probably helped get more people into the gym to start bodybuilding with just that 1 exercising montage in this movie than Schwarzenegger did in his whole bodybuilding career. This movie's soundtrack probably got replayed over and over again by every high school and college kid while in the gym. I know it is was my go-to music at the time whenever I lifted. This soundtrack is probably just as good, if not moreso, than the Top Gun soundtrack. I'd love to see you guys do a Stallone marathon and see films like the Rambo franchise, Cliffhanger, Cobra, Lockup, etc.
The movie with all of the action actors from the '80s and '90s is called The Expendables. They made like three of them I believe first one is good second one is good third one is entertaining. None of them are truly amazing stories but honestly you're not watching those movies for the stories you're watching it because you want to see your favorite action stars all together kicking ass It's like the '80s montage version of the avengers lol😂
They took the statue down from where it was on top of the stairs, but they moved it to a park, so it's still there. It's just now in a different location.
Creed's trainer name was Tony "Duke" Evers, played by Tony Burton. who was a professional boxer before he became an actor. In the movie "Creed" the guywho is running Creed's gym is named "Little Duke", he is supposed to be the son of Apollo Creed trainer.
The best movie in the franchise. I love the Montage in this movie Hearts On Fire, Fun facts: During the filming of this movie Stallone asked Dolph to really spar with him. Stallone ended up in the hospital cause Dolph punch him so hard he moved his heart . Another fun fact Brigitte Nielsen the actress who plays Drago wife was the real life girlfriend of Stallone during the time of the filming. :) . Are you watching the modern new cut of the movie this seems different ?
This version of the film came about during the pandemic. Like a lot of people at the time, Stallone was stuck at home in lockdown and decided to spend the time re-editing Rocky IV himself. The original theatrical version was "very MTV" and stylized with several montages. The movie also had the very bizarre inclusion of a talking (and apparently artificially intelligent?) robot as Rocky's birthday gift to Paulie. Stallone admits that the only reason the robot was in the movie was because he saw it in an L.A. pizza restaurant and thought it was cool. Overall, the tone and style of the movie was incongruous with the rest of the series, which Stallone grew to regret in hindsight and inspired this "Director's Cut." It adds more dialogue and character scenes that were left out of the original version, and Paulie's robot is completely cut out. The tone of the ending is a bit different as well. The original cut ends feeling very triumphantly euphoric, with Rocky celebrating with the crowd after his anti-war speech as "Hearts On Fire" plays the movie out to the end credits. But Rocky is more somber and reflective about Apollo's death after he defeats Drago in this cut. And yes, the "No Easy Way Out" driving montage was in the original film and remains unchanged in this version. It's one of those MTV-styled elements of the original film that Stallone kept, but it is one of the more emotional - and iconic - aspects of the movie, so removing it likely would've made the film feel TOO different. I can also tell that Stallone might've been struggling to fill out the runtime of this cut, as the opening recap of Rocky III is much longer. The original Rocky IV only really briefly recaps the climactic second fight with Clubber Lang and the secret third fight between Rocky and Apollo. Rocky IV already had the shortest runtime of all the movies in the franchise, so he might've kept the driving montage because removing it would've cut a little too much time from the movie.
Man, I need to watch this version. Even in this edited down reaction I can tell it is that Directors Cut I heard about, which already seems to have more going on than the original. Which, though I always liked it, felt more like a long music video. 75% montage vs the more dramatic relationship/sport side of the first three. He needed Mando to come in and help! "Apollo, I am throwing in the towel. This is the way."
In the original "Rocky" movie, it's stated that Rocky was thirty. That would put Apollo at thirty three. Rocky III mentions Rocky being thirty four years old before the second bout with Clubber. That would put Apollo at thirty seven. Rocky IV states "nearly five years" (later) when Apollo has been retired for some time. This would put Rocky at thirty nine and Apollo at forty two years old. By contrast, this cut of Rocky IV states that Ivan Drago is "Thirteen years younger" than Rocky. That puts Ivan Drago at twenty six years of age during his match with Rocky in Moscow.
Really enjoy you kids reacting to this movie! Makes me re-live my reaction to it again. It was shocking at the time. I was glued to my 25" "big screen"! Love.
This version is the "Stallone Cut" . Sly went back during he pandemic and edited the original movie. Even though I do like SOME extra scenes/dialogue, the original cut of the movie fit so much better.
Doesn't need to be a reaction, but hopefully you see the theatrical version as well and maybe tell us what you thought. The all-star action movies you're talking about is The Expendables
Oof so disappointing you didnt see the significance of the "Music Video". Thats literally rockys thoughts he's thinking about the whole of his life, the great and the sad knowing the risks of fighting Drago of losing his life and family yet still pursuing him to find the peace to calm his heart and soul. This is another one of those moments where if he doesnt fight it'll haunt him for the rest of his life like Adrienne said in 3. Without Apollo helping him as a rookie and without coaching him through Mickey's death Rocky would still be steet hustling and so he decides his friend's honor and pride is worth dying and especially fighting for.
You talked about how Drago should have been charged for Apollo's death, Something like this happened in real life in boxing Ray "boom boom" Mancini was fighting a Korean boxer Duk Koo Kim, in the 15th round Mancini knocked him down, Kim took a hard landing, he got up but the ref stopped the fight. Kim collapsed in the back and had to be rushed to the hospital, he had suffered a massive cranial hemorrhage and died. Mancini wasn't charged, it was ruled an accident but he was very shaken by it, nearly retired he continued but was never the same again. Years later there was a documentary where he visited Kim's mother and apologized. He said she never blamed him cause she knew it wasn't intentional. They have since put measures in pro boxing, like more extensive pre fight medical exams & reducing the number of rounds.
It's really funny watching 'Rocky' reactions, how people go from not even wanting to watch it because they don't like sports/boxing movies and violence, to tearing up at scenes which are poignant and eventually hitting the person sitting closest and shouting for Rocky to "kill 'em"😂
lol, that's an Overstatement...Not everyone in the 80s was using drugs/steroids lmao ...I was playing soccer, football, wrestling, martial arts, and gym 5-6 days a week, and no one I knew or competed against used steroids or drugs. 🤣😂🤣👎 I would say more are using today than in the 80s as many athletes/reporters are actively advocating for steroid usage.
23:45 - Yes, this "montage" was in the original film. I saw it in the theaters. Thanks for another great reaction. Stallone showed exactly what he's made of in this film - both physically and as an actor.
Guys, Rocky IV came out in 1985. Mr. T played B.A. Baracus in the 1983 television series The A-Team. (I should know: I used to watch the A-Team, and I loved Mr. T, especially his signature phrase "I pity the fool!"; and I was SO excited when I found out he would be in Rocky III.) So Rocky IV actually was NOT Mr. T's first acting role. BTW, Muhammad Ali died June 3, 2016.
@@ChristopherJames1993 Oops, I meant "So Rocky III actually was NOT Mr. T's first acting role." But you are correct: Rocky III came out in 1982 and The A-Team began in 1983. So unless Google's incorrect, Rocky III WAS Mr. T's acting debut. Since Mr. T is synonymous with the phrase "I pity the fool", I always thought he carried that phrase from The A-Team over to Rocky III, but I guess it's the other way around!
I hated it at the time, but now I do think it’s good. I think it’s because I originally went into it expecting something like Rocky 3 and 4. Without that expectation, it’s much better.

I remember reading somewhere, that the training scenes in Russia where actually filmed in British Columbia, Canada. 👍🏼🇨🇦
If you're familiar w/ Bert Kreischer's "Machine" story, Rocky's "chaperones" are the banditi Bert refers to.
The movie is called The Expendables.
Really enjoy you kids reacting to this movie! Makes me re-live my reaction to it again. It was shocking at the time. I was glued to my 25" "big screen"! Love.
The Expendables was the movie with the different stars, It was pretty good.
The One thing about Stalone movies is that they always have great soundtracks❤
This version is the "Stallone Cut" . Sly went back during he pandemic and edited the original movie. Even though I do like SOME extra scenes/dialogue, the original cut of the movie fit so much better.
Stallone should have re-edited 35 years prior
You guys are hilarious! Very entertaining! Loved it. Rocky IV is my FAVORITE
Ali passed away June 3, 2016
Omggg you two talk about the most random things ever during your reactions 😂
Duke is Apollo's trainer
“They make him look tall”
Well he’s 6’6” 😂
It's really funny watching 'Rocky' reactions, how people go from not even wanting to watch it because they don't like sports/boxing movies and violence, to tearing up at scenes which are poignant and eventually hitting the person sitting closest and shouting for Rocky to "kill 'em"😂
The Expendables is the action movie your talking about, also there’s 3 of em… so far.
Don't skip Rocky 5, it might have a lot of cringey moments but, ths story is way better than ROCKY 4
DRAGO SHOULDVE BEEN DISQUALIFIED WHEN HE HIT APOLLO!ITS AN EXHIBITION MAN THIS DRAGO KIDDO!
Its almost like i watched an reaction to a movie but got a lot of unessecary jokes and unrelated things instead
lol, that's an Overstatement...Not everyone in the 80s was using drugs/steroids lmao ...I was playing soccer, football, wrestling, martial arts, and gym 5-6 days a week, and no one I knew or competed against used steroids or drugs. 🤣😂🤣👎
I would say more are using today than in the 80s as many athletes/reporters are actively advocating for steroid usage.
Ludmilla (brigitte nielsen) was sylvester stallones wife back in the time
Its 3 years since the last movie and 4 years since the second lang fight 1985 Appollo is in his 40's. After 1982 no fight would go 15 rounds.
Apollo Creed trainer is Tony “Duke” Evers His son Tony “Little Duke” Evers is in Creed 1, 2, and 3.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!
"Ivan is like your Popeye, he eats his spinach everyday". me: "I didn't know spinach came in needle form". lol
Died suddenly at 34. It might not be roids, but it could be an injection of a different kind.
23:45 - Yes, this "montage" was in the original film. I saw it in the theaters. Thanks for another great reaction. Stallone showed exactly what he's made of in this film - both physically and as an actor.
But bad editing
The original movie is terribly cut, since, it has too many montage, making it look like a music video.
Jane be like palpatine when he says Do it 😂
The video and music montage playing while Rocky was driving WAS in the movie.
Erm, Mr T was in Rocky III which came out in 1982, making it his first acting role. Clubber wasnt in Rocky IV at all.
The name of Apollo's former trainer is Duke.
TMI: Dolph Lungren was a MIT student when he was casted for this role. 😎
I don’t think Drago was scared I think he was just shocked. He’s never been hit like that before with people he has fought.
The montage was in the theatrical release.
14:28 the training montage wasn’t even in the original so they didn’t cut it out.
Love the channel and both of you two
The fith movie isn't what you'd call good ... But it is so important especially about Rocky's health
I hated it at the time, but now I do think it’s good. I think it’s because I originally went into it expecting something like Rocky 3 and 4. Without that expectation, it’s much better.
when Rocky was knocked down Apollo Creed was talking to him tell him not to give up
Lol I was here for the podcast at the end!!!
You don't have to make Lundgren look tall. The guy is a mountain for real.
Sylvester Stallone did all his own stunts in this film in fact the fight scene almost cost him his life one punch was way too dangerous xx
The whole montage flashbacks was in the original cut too.
