The gear on the top of mine is too big to take the part off. It’s not narrow like the one in the video. No idea how to take the old hub off or get new one over it. Does the gear portion come off? Mvwx655dw0.
So I have a different issue i have checked three times and confirmed the p/n for this hubkit for my machine but the head of the splines on the transmission are larger than the opening on the drive hub I cant get the old one off and or the new one on. Its not a perfect round shaft with splines like the one in all the tutorials that I have found mine has more like jaggeg shark fin splines three of them rather than like the twenty smooth strait splines?? Please help even called Appliance repair guy and he's lost :(
I am replacing this on my washer. What gets me is under that plastic drive hub there is a small chamfered rubber or neoprene washer for each screw that secures it to the basket. Idk where to get those from. I've even looked at the manufacturer's parts schematics and they are conveniently left out. Anyone know what I'm talking about or where to find them?
Replacing ours now for the second time. Looking for a metal replacement instead of plastic. With plastic on metal these teeth on hub will keep stripping. 🤔
Plastic is for saving the drive and motor. If it were metal, you would have more problems, and much worse. Check for loose change, etc under impeller. This holds up the drive and causes the stripping of the hub.
So ... you mentioned about putting a cloth over the holes to prevent anything from dropping in there because it's really hard to get it out if that happens. Well ... I didn't cover the holes, and the removable screwdriver tip came off and went right down in there. Is it absolutely necessary that I retrieve it? I can't imagine what that entails! Your video was excellent. I can't believe this happened. :(
You do not want anything in the drive hub area. Loose Change will ruin it, so a screwdriver tip will do much more damage. Get it out, and look for other stuff in there, too. Hope this helps.
It will not spin but you’ll also hear a weird sound when it doesn’t spin.. motor will still spin the clutch and splutch assembly but won’t spin... kind of a dumb design imo why have a metal trans slash gear case shaft and plastic hub? It’s a money thing generates revenue and you’d be surprise at the amount of techs that misdiagnose this repair
1:50 mark.
Just lift up on the agitator and pull it off the shaft... 😅😂🤣
Life is so easy on planet Studio.
I have encountered several wash plates recently that are fused to the shaft, nearly impossible to remove.
This is anything but an easy job,had to break off that plate
How hard was it to remove the agitator
Me too.
Mine is still hanging on like a hair in a biscuit
Good video. Helped. Calibration was necessary after I fixed mine, but I found out how on another's video. Thanks.
I like the revised metal hub kit. Recalibration
Is there a trick of other method to get the first screw loose. Tried holding it but can’t get the bolt to loosen.
No. These are not easy and you have to destroy that plate to get it off
This video is a lie
I used my impact driver to remove the screw. Still haven't figured out how to get the agitator plate off.
Always looks easy😂
Thank you so much I really appreciate the video

Get a few of these Hub Kits......You'll be doing it every year or so
Thank you
The plastic "fork shaped holder" is stuck. Tried prying it out and it ended up breaking. The forks won't move. Any ideas to help get these out?
I have the same problem
3rd time around , tub is loose, suspension is worn out! Banging on sidewall, foam worn out, replaced with rubber. Mtce manual inside front wall.

Anyone know where to find more screws?
My fork won't go in and now it's stuck from hammer

That’s because your gearcase is bad

Yeah if only they spend $30 more to make the part out of metal to begin with. Imagine how much happier their customers would be.
@@scottchristie2819 I'm sure they could have thought of a stronger non corrosive material than just plastic
@@netmaster88 You just do not get it dude. Metal would ruin machine.

Bridget Kulick once you take the little u clip out you can lift the tub out and just grab it

@@scottchristie2819 How do you access that area? By taking the inner tub/basket out?
@@scottchristie2819 Or does it fall down into the drain pump?
It's not even close to being this easy!!!!
If you do a lot of laundry, do yourself a big favor and have a few of these pieces on hand. Because these tend to fail when you’re gonna need it most.
Seriously? Not going to clean the bottom of that tub up even a little before installing that new part?
Very Good!... #24 ✝ {12-4-2022}
I can't get my agitator off. The whole world is underneath it hanging on. Tannerite time
Gotta call BS on this. Agitator was already loose. Need video on how to get agitator/cover off.
What does your washer do when you need to replace this part?
Don’t spins
