Mine would not budge. I poured one pot of boiling hot water, waited about 30 mins, then started a normal wash with hot water and about 3 minutes into the wash, it popped right out!!!

Thanks! Some 20 year old CLR did the trick for me. That was so frustrating. Thanks for the tips! Now I'm back to look for how to take out the tub. It seems just as stuck, though it's currently soaking in CLR.

I tried all methods except blowdryer, drywall screws and air shims. Nothing, and I mean. NOTHING budged. Soo frustrating, clothes coming out of this machine covered in bits of crud. Will Def. NOT be seeking out LG appliances in the future.

Same. I've ran 15-20 cleaning cycles, wd-40/Kroil, baking soda and vinegar, CLR, injected air, used metal coat hangers as well as shoe strings to no avail. 😣

Yo question. Is it safe to use my washer without the little cap that covers the screw of the wash plate?

    • @GuyTriesDIY
      @GuyTriesDIY  8 месяцев назад +1

I wouldn’t recommend putting clothes in it without the cap as they could get caught and damaged.

I had a similar issue and couldn't remove the plate. I tried several methods, including WD40 and pulling it with a wire inserted in the three holes, among others. Finally, I purchased CLR and poured it with hot water, letting it sit for 2 minutes. I attempted to pull the wash plate again, but it didn't budge. Then, I ran a short washing program to clear out the CLR, and within less than 2 minutes, the plate came off by itself! I believe the combination of efforts contributed to this result, but I trust that CLR worked in my case. Good luck to everyone facing the same problem. Moving forward, I plan to do a deep cleaning with 2 cups of washing soda and 2 cups of borax every 3 months. Hopefully, it will help keep it clean!

Hi. Thanks for this video. It made me realize the wash plate was stuck due to rust. So I put some Evapo-Rust in the bolt hole, waited about an hour, and easily pulled the wash plate up. It might be worth mentioning Evapo-Rust in the video, as it does not produce caustic byproducts like other chemicals.

This video finally helped me get ours off. The WD40 + lightly tapping with a rubber mallet did it. I used some old weed Wacker string to route around the holes and pulled while lightly tapping.

Numerous cleaning cycles, CLR, WD-40, baking soda/vinegar, boiling water, compressed air, coat hangers and shoes strings to pull.
    Nothing will work.
I'm going to buy a new washing plate bc I'll have to destroy this one to hopefully remove it. I'd order the win bags but I'm done spending time, money, and energy. Need to wash clothes.

air bags great idea.. hot water and soft hammer. tap 100 times. tap top and sides be patient. hooks great... screws and slide hammer.. put vaseline or silacone grease on all threads and binding surfaces for next time. my big fight was with the spider.

just a question, why does the washing machine make a hum when it puts water in, is it because of the weak flow of water from the tap?
Advance thanks for your answer😊😊😊hope u reply i really need to know plssss😣

Yes it could be due to that. Can check the water supply hoses and water pressure in the home.

May I suggest method #8- no special tools or additives needed. Loosen the bolt on top of the wash plate just slightly but do NOT remove it. Then just put your machine in wash cycle. The strong back and forth movement of the wash plate will loosen it naturally. I used my machine for a few days in this way. Finally I removed the bolt for another wash cycle and as the water was filling up, the wash plate just floated right off.

Great video, thanks very much! I soaked the bottom of the tub in vinegar, waited an hour - no luck. I then used 3 portions of a wire hangar with hooks bent into them and hooked into the three holes in the center. No luck. Ran a Tub Clean cycle. No luck. I decided to take a break, poured more vinegar in the tub and let it sit overnight. The next morning, it popped right off.

Tried the mallet, boiling water, soaking in vinegar, wd40, hooks through the holes and it wouldn’t budge. Then ran a short cycle and in 5 minutes it floated right off! I’d advise to keep an eye on it so you can pause the cycle as soon as it comes off & remove it before the spin kicks in. Thanks for the great video!

This video was a godsend. I tried WD40 and the thing still wouldn't budge. I noticed some of the other comments said to let the tub clean run with the bolt holding the plate either loose or removed. I kept it loose, ran s tub clean for about 10 minutes and after it drained the plate lifted right up. I think a loosening agent and letting it run a little was the trick.
