14:45---One of the "Dinks" is played by Ed Gale, who's best known as the stunt double for Chucky the Killer Doll and the actor who played Howard the Duck.
Gale was having lunch with his friend who's nearly seven foot tall and the friend had invited Mel Brooks to lunch. When Mel Brooks arrived, he looked at the two of them and asked, "How did you guys meet?" The Friend explained Gale was the guy who played Howard the Duck, and Brooks immediately said, "ANYONE who was in HOWARD THE DUCK............can be in one of my movies."

...I truly believe the reason is that spoof movies for the past 20 years are made by people who don't like the movies they're spoofing.
ZAZ loved Zero Hour and hence made Airplane, loved cop procedurals hence Naked Gun. Mel brooks enjoyed westerns hence Blazing Saddles and had huge respect for George Lucas' Star Wars hence Spaceballs. (Even Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg loved zombie movies and buddy cop movies, hence made Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, the closest things to good spoof movies we've had in decades.)
No offense to the Scary Movie franchise but I don't think the Wayans' particularly liked Scream, The Matrix, M. Night's, etc. movies.
There is a line between making fun of the flaws of the things you love and making fun of the things you don't like.

I don't know if you noticed, or if anyone told you already, but the millenium falcon was parked outside the space restaurant in the movie.

The radar operator that you said sounded like someone making noises was Micheal Winslow, from Police Academy. He was like Fred Newman who did sound effects on Prairie Home Companion.

Brought to you by Mel Brooks starring Bill Pullman as Lord Starlord in this Star Wars parody about a princess who doesn't want to be married and a duo of delivery guys who go on a quest to pay off their debt and come across a princess

Fun fact Mel brooks got the go ahead from George Lucas to make a space balls as a spoof of Star Wars with a condition of no toys or products come out of it

  • @jimhoyt5

When George Lucas agreed to give Mel Brooks fair use of Star Wars he had 2 main conditions: No merchandise and Lonestar couldn't dress like Han Solo. That is wht Lonestar dresses as Indiana Jones and the abundance of merchandise jokes within the movie.

16:10 - This is supposed to parody how many products they came out with that had the Star Wars name attached to them. Just about anything you can think of had the name attached to it at some point.
