I approve of your video title. "Good is Dumb" is my favorite line. (because it is funny, but also a bit philosophical)
Good timing with the seeing of Alien just before this.
You didn't really miss anything with the "Rambo" reference. It was just about the fact that Rambo is very bad@$$ with a gun. (taking down multiple enemies) That's all.

Mel Brooks asked George permission to do this parody and he said yes. Only stipulation was Mel couldn't do any merchandising thats why he did the bit in the movie. Mel also based Lone Star on both Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Mel also used ILM to do the special effects. ... As always loved your reaction your smiles were so good.... ❤

Galaxy Quest (while a kind of Star Trek parody) thankfully doesn't require any Star Trek knowledge, since they make more fun of the associated fandom than the actual shows. As a result, I highly recommend it since it is absolutely hilarious!
Also, fun fact: like George Lucas with Spaceballs, many of the cast and crew of Star Trek shows have publicly commented on how much they loved "Galaxy Quest", to the point where they actively persuaded their more reticent counterparts to go and watch it too!

13:03 Fun fact about this entire scene and what they call their offbrand force. George Lukas *loved* this movie and he was given the script in order to approve a lot of it. He even allowed a very brief cameo of the Millennium Falcon (its in the parking lot of the diner they go to) While Lukas was cool, the company that made merch for Star Wars wasn't. They demanded that Spaceballs was not allowed to make *any* merch. That company was the *Shwartz* company...the most powerful force in the universe apparently.

Spaceballs 2 has been discussed recently. Brooks has stated that the movie is happening. We'll see... (He is 96 currently).
Lone Star is both the Luke Skywalker & Han Solo characters.
It's good to know some Star Trek culture B4 watching Galaxy Quest, but not required. I' recommend watching at least 1-2 ST movies B4 watching GQ. The points of reference are better than just knowing some trivias of the ST culture.

    "What?"
    "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate."
    "What's that make us?"
    "Absolutely nothing!"
Fun Fact: During his scene, Michael Winslow did most of the sound effects. In the DVD audio commentary for the movie, Mel Brooks jokes that they saved around $1,000 by letting him do this.
Doll Balls Fact: The scene in which Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) is playing with his dolls was not in the screenplay. Writer, producer, and director Mel Brooks came up with the idea on the set one day and told this to Rick Moranis, who then improvised the entire scene.
Star Wars Cameo Fact: The Millennium Falcon from the Star Wars saga makes a cameo appearance in this movie. Take a close look at the exterior shot of the Space Diner, and it can be spotted parked there among the other space vehicles. George Lucas got a chance to read the screenplay before production began, and loved it so much that he decided to have his special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, help make this movie.

Dark Helmet is Rick Moranis, you have seen him in Ghostbusters 1 and 2. He's also known for Little Shop of Horrors and the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids trilogy.
There's been talks about a possible Spaceballs 2, but Mel Brooks said he would only do it If Rick Moranis returned as Dark Helmet. But Mel is in his 90's so I sadly doubt it will happen, he recently produced a sequel TV-show to his movie History of the World, part 1.
Rick Moranis retired from acting in the middle of the 90's because his wife had passed away and he decided to raise their kids. He's been mostly doing voice acting in some projects and he did a comeback a couple of years ago by appearing in a commercial with Ryan Reynolds (who was star struck). It's been said that Moranis would be in a planned Honey, I Shrunk The Kids reboot.

What I find amazing about those who love George Lucas have never once reacted to his very first film titled, "THX 1138", (1971), starring Robert Duvall, Donald Pleasence and Maggie Mc Combie. One of the first dystopian type movies ever made in recent time and no one wants to react to it? I think this was George's best movie because it reflects what is going on right now and yet no one wants to react to it. Amazing.

Aria, now you need to see the original "Planet of the Apes" from 1968 with Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowell. Co-written by Rod Serling, the famous creator of "The Twilight Zone."
You can skip over the second film and watch "Escape From The Planet of The Apes" next as those match up storywise, more or less. They're classic sci-fi with a message using a story technique called role reversal.
Check out the George Lucas directed "American Graffiti." This classic ode to the early 1960's before the loss of America's innocence in the Vietnam War helped launch the film careers of Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, and Harrison Ford. Arguably, it's Lucas' best film.

My only personal problem with George Lucas when it comes to the Star Wars franchise, other than he made the mistake we all see in hindsight of selling the franchise to Disney, is the fact that he felt the need to keep messing with his original trilogy with CGI effects after 1997 and decided these new versions of those films are the definitive versions. I own my own unofficial copy of the Despecialized Blu Ray versions of the first 3 films that are cleaned up versions of the originals that are otherwise unaltered. What Lucas did to them starting in 1997 is a travesty.

It’s great you have such respect to George Lucas. Unfortunately, his legacy is somewhat being tarnished by Kathleen Kennedy who has so far produced very mediocre films that are part of the franchise. I’m not a Star Wars fan myself, but I also feel bad for the fans and universe. Oh well. As always, I love the sudden “What’s up?” in every intro of your videos!😂

Just like vader he's a white guy with a black voice when his helmet is on, kind of hate the way the cuts in this are quite random though it's cutting mid joke or just before reaction to joke etc.

I love Mel Brooks, but this is pretty low in his comedy creations, in my opinion anyway.
It’s amusing, but no much more than that.
