My apologies if you already know this, but the reason they played the "Mission: Impossible" music when Captain Oveur was sprayed by gas was because Peter Graves starred in the original "Mission: Impossible" TV series that ran from 1966 to 1973.
The dialogue about the computer, Rock, has lots of references to the malfunctioning computer, HAL, in 2001: A Space Odyssey. For more Leslie Nielsen look for the half hour TV comedy Police Squad. There are 6 episodes I believe.
Absolutely that was the funniest deadman remark in the whole show that cracked me up that’s what made the show so funny to me I don’t remember the actors name that delivers that line but he’s a straight man anyway, that was so freaking funny
The scene in which Striker sees the two in space, and the woman didn’t is a reference to the Twilight Zone episode terror at 20,000 feet that William Shatner was in.
Noteworthy: The opening music is the theme song from the original Battlestar Galactica TV show from the early 1980s. Peter Graves was part of the Mission Impossible TV show. ROC imitates the computer from 2001 A Space Odyssey (movie). Leslie Nielson had committed to the TV show Police squad and turned down the role in this movie.
Your reactions are some of my favorite on RUclips. Watching you genuinely laugh at a lot of these jokes just takes me back to when I first saw these movies, and I thank you for that. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see what you react to next! Oh, and for what its worth... I wanted there to be doors like the ones in the Lunar Base too. When my friends and I first saw this as kids, we ran around for weeks going "Shh" to doors, lol.
OMG….you’re one of the few reactors that have reacted to this classic!!! When it came out, it didn’t do that well & i think I was one of the few people in my town(Edwards AFB, California) that went to see it. I was dying laughing the whole time. I’m glad that it’s finally getting the respect it deserved back In the day 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙂 My favorite gag is when Simon turns to jelly 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi, your laughter caught me again, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Did you recognize the Lunar base's captain? It was Captain Kirk's actor (William Shatner) from Star Trek... LOL. :)
Oh yes William Shatner yeah that was the funniest part of the whole movie for me when the door opens and he walks out when the movie first came out I cracked up at that so hard I could hardly watch the rest of the movie…
The original writers/directors refused to do the sequel. When asked if they've watched it since the original release, they always reply with: "If your sister was a prostitute, would you want to watch her at work?"
"Oh, cut the bleeding heart crap, will ya? We've all got our switches, lights, and knobs to deal with, Striker. I mean, down here there are literally hundreds and thousands of blinking, beeping, and flashing lights, blinking and beeping and flashing - they're FLASHING and they're BEEPING. I can't stand it anymore! They're BLINKING and BEEPING and FLASHING! Why doesn't somebody pull the plug!" This movie gets a lot of hate. Some of it, deservingly so. However you cannot deny that everything William Shatner says is comedy gold. The man is a legend. Fun Fact: At one point, William Shatner looks into a periscope and sees the USS Enterprise from Star Trek (1966). This is the only time the original television version of the Enterprise appeared on the big screen. For the theatrical movies, it had been heavily modified. Hooker Co-Stars Fact: William Shatner (Buck Murdock) and Lee Bryant (reprising her role as the hysterical Mrs. Hammen from the first film, during the courtroom scene), were already working together at the time of this film's release on the television series T.J. Hooker (1982). In that series, Shatner played the lead role of police officer T.J. Hooker, and Bryant had a recurring role as Hooker's ex-wife, Fran. Legendary Prop Fact: At the Alpha Beta base, a technician tells Buck Murdock that the piece of equipment he is working on has red lights that go back and forth, but no other apparent purpose. This piece of equipment has been seen in many science fiction films and television series (including Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan (1982), The Last Starfighter (1984) and an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)), but its function is never explained.
Warp Drive concept is from Star Trek, the door hissing noise are also from earlier Star Trek movies. You can also see the Enterprise from Star Trek and Captain Kirk (William Shatner) is the Moon Alpha Beta base (Alpha being the name of the Moon base in Space 1999 series). The lab decoration of the base is typical Star Trek lab deco.
When this film was made, Leslie Nielsen was starring in TV show "Police Squad!", which was the first adventures of Frank Drebin, before "The Naked Gun".
All reviewers forget or don't realize the following (I'm showing my age): The Father played by James Noble was the Governor in the popular sitcom "Benson". When she says, "I could use a little breather." We see the great Hervé Villechaize who was M. Roarke's side kick in the long running TV show Fantasy Island who's name was Tattoo. Milliions of folks remember and always repeat his famous line in the intro, "Da plane, da plane!" The ticket agent was the lovable Norm from Cheers played by the great George Wendt.
I believe that he died snowskiing when he ran into a tree. Is that right? They also had a daughter Chaz, who grew up and trans into a man. If you look at Chaz now, who really looks like a man complete with beard and mustache, you would never think he used to be a cute little girl in dresses.
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned already but that gig where the guy is saying how come nobody tells me about this anymore than the door opens and comes out that’s William Shatner of Star Trek fan Captain Kirk And I love your reactions they’re very sincere and subdued and I really love your reactions
Though this sequel is basically the same movie with rehashed jokes set in a space shuttle, the best part is William Shatner playing a crazy version of his Captain Kirk character.
Hi, Aria! Even though "Airplane 2" felt somewhat repetitious from it's original, it was still worth watching your reaction just to see your pretty smile. Good review, as always!
These movies are just hilarious 😆😆 You need to watch "Top Secret" too ... And if you've watched "Top Gun" and "Rambo" you should watch "Hot Shots 1 + 2" :)
I am so happy that you watched this movie. Airplane 2 doesn't get nearly enough credit at how funny a movie it is. It doesn't top the original, but it has it's share of belly laughs. Having most of the original cast back in it, helps a lot too. Your reaction to Commander Murdoch(William Shatner) coming out of the video monitor was absolutely perfect. I am thoroughly enjoying your reactions, and I will do my best to send some more of my friends your way. Keep up the great work, Aria!
My fav line from the Airplane! Movies is here in 2 (but i hear it differently than they deliver it, because they did it wrong). It's just as they're getting ready for their approach and Ted says... "we're gonna have to come in pretty low to land this thing" Elaine: but Ted, isn't that dangerous? Ted: of course it's dangerous. But it's just something you gotta do when you land. He should have paused, and looked slightly toward the camera before saying "when you land". But it's still a great line.
You might also like "Transylvania Twist" also it has a lot of the same word-play, visual style gags. And parodies many of the horror movies from Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Hammer Horror films, and that's just in the first 5 minutes. Even if you've never seen The Exorcist, or Hell Raiser, the sight gags are enough to be recognizable as coming from so other type of feature. There are also references to less scarry things like the game show "Wheel of Fortune", and 1950's "The Honeymooners" TV shows. Angus Scrimm from the Phantasm movies even parodies his role from that series. Besides, when I was growing up, I just wanted to be a mash-up of Dexter Ward, from "Transylvania Twist", and Maxwell Smart from the "Get Smart" TV show. Then people watch my Clue: The Movie recreation, {another great movie you should watch if you haven't already}, and they think, yeah that guy's a nut, watch those two shows and you'll see where it came from. :)
I'd give you my impression of your reaction but I'm sorry I don't do impressions 😁 I think you'd love Top Secret and the Hot Shots movies too as well as the Police Squad series that came before the Naked Gun movies.
Odd fact the guy with the bomb is the late singer and senator Sunny Bono. He and I both had ski accidents on the same day at different ski resorts. We both died but I came back, he didn't.
So, if its Leslie Nielson you want to see, you'll want to react to THE NAKED GUN series. I'll be there for that. The writers/directors are the same ones who brought us the original AIRPLANE!.
There were some references to "2001" by Stanley Kubrick (the computer taking control) and Battlestar Galactica (music), you got the ET reference already (phoning home...). But yeah, hilarious, as most if not all Abrahams - Zucker - Abrahams movies. I refresh my recommendation of Monty Python's "Life of Brian" and of "This is Spinal Tap!" (as in music - repetition works). 🙂Fun reaction, Leslie Nielsen spelled right, everything OK. Pls. continue. Over and out.
There are jokes in the credits, look carefully to get them all! Movie/TV show references to see: Star Trek (original cast, TV, movies), E.T., Mission Impossible, Rocky, Battlestar Galactica (Awesome soundtrack used in opening scroll). Didn't know that. Thanks:))
25:21 The joke here is that the prop with red lights has been used in many science fiction films for no apparent reason.
William Shatner and the door that looks like a monitor is one of my favourite comedy scenes.
The computer that talks and says " What Are You Doing Dave ? " Is a reference to the Stanley Kubrick movie : 2001 A Space Odyssey
Man with bomb was Sonny Bono
My favorite gag was when Shatner looked through the parascope and saw the starship Enterprise.
Another Note The man hosting "Jeopardy!" on the plane was Art Fleming, who hosted the show when I was a kid, long before Alex Trebek.
The dialogue about the computer, Rock, has lots of references to the malfunctioning computer, HAL, in 2001: A Space Odyssey. For more Leslie Nielsen look for the half hour TV comedy Police Squad. There are 6 episodes I believe.
Finally someone reacts to The Sequel! I'm so happy. 😃
"I'm sorry, I don't do impressions. My training is in psychiatry."
One of my favorites of all time!😂
Absolutely that was the funniest deadman remark in the whole show that cracked me up that’s what made the show so funny to me I don’t remember the actors name that delivers that line but he’s a straight man anyway, that was so freaking funny
Absolutely epic line and delivered to perfection !
1:50 If you love that " Star Wars thing " you might like Spaceballs.. ;)
She might need an O2 tank for brooksfilms like that.
The scene in which Striker sees the two in space, and the woman didn’t is a reference to the Twilight Zone episode terror at 20,000 feet that William Shatner was in.

Leslie Nielson had committed to the TV show Police squad and turned down the role in this movie.
The Airplane 2 title also looks like the Superman movie titles.
Just an FYI the bathrooms in all spacecraft in use so far use a vacuum like thing to go in. Early missions just used diapers.
William Shatner steals the show.

My favorite gag is when Simon turns to jelly 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
24:38 is STILL, after all these years, one of my favorite ever sight gags in movie history. LOL!
24:38 The door bit is my favorite. That and the "sshhh" 😂
It's joke from ST: TOS :D Plus Will "Kirk" Shatner :)
Not really anywhere the original but I've always held onto the "If it pleases the court" joke long after I forgot where it came from.
The original writers/directors refused to do the sequel. When asked if they've watched it since the original release, they always reply with: "If your sister was a prostitute, would you want to watch her at work?"

I want a complete and comprehensive list of everyone who has seen The Sound Of Music more then 4 times.
You're one of the few reactors who have reacted to Airplane 2
I'm glad you reacted to Airplane 2 as not many do. Plus you have such a lovely smile/ laugh 💐
Thank you:))
I can't go through automatic doors without making that sound. Ever since I first saw this. That's a long time!!!

"24:40" This is by far my favorite scene frome this movie. I knew it would get you 😂😁
This was a studio sequel with almost no involvement from the original film's creative team.
When this film was made, Leslie Nielsen was starring in TV show "Police Squad!", which was the first adventures of Frank Drebin, before "The Naked Gun".
"Between your own knees, Father!"
I think you missed the failed drug deal in the background in the control tower, and there was a post/mid credit sequence.

The bomb guy was sonny bono, he was married to cher and eventually became a US senator

Fun movie, glad you liked it. The captain of the shuttle was in mission impossible tv show way back when. Hope you see Top Secret, by the same folks.
Not the same people. This sequel isn’t genuine. It’s not made by the Airplane/Top Secret people.
Aria, now you need to see the science fiction masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey" to get all the references to HAL the computer, etc. 🙂
YES!!!
I will:)
@@ariachanson01 Super! 🙂
The co-pilot was Kent McCord, who starred with Martin Milner on Adam 12 - one of my favorite police shows as a kid.
One Adam 12, see the man....
The actor wearing the red hairpiece at 18:35 is the veteran actor Rip Torn. Magnificent fellow.
Sonny bono needs no introduction - the man with the bomb. He and his wife Cher had a hit show during the late 1970s - the Sonny and Cher show.
Loyd Bridges (McCloskey) of course is a veteran actor, the father of Jeff and Beau Bridges.
One of my favorite roles for Julie Hagerty (Elaine) was on Malcolm in the Middle. But she's been in many things.
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned already but that gig where the guy is saying how come nobody tells me about this anymore than the door opens and comes out that’s William Shatner of Star Trek fan Captain Kirk

All of the " Naked Gun " movies Leslie Nielson is in. Also in a Stephen King film called : Creepshow

Hi, Aria! Even though "Airplane 2" felt somewhat repetitious from it's original, it was still worth watching your reaction just to see your pretty smile. Good review, as always!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Well, _I'm_ glad that _you're_ glad! (Your turn...) 🤭
The actress, Ann Nelson, that pukes herself to skeleton was the same actress that hung herself in the first one.
I forgot "The Rifleman" Chuck Connors was in this, lol.
I knew him as Capt. Jason McCord, the U.S. Cavalry officer falsely accused of cowardice from the `60`s U.S. Tv Series (Branded).
