Who doesnt wanna let go of their estwing 😂 haha nvm just watched the whole vid lucky guess thats awesome i own an M1 just ordered the m4 with the titanium 7oz head should be arriving Saturday
Thanks for the video. I do a little bit of everything, framing, roofing, siding, trim, etc. I'm wanting to get one handle, and both M1 and M4 heads eventually. If you were to get just one handle length, which would be better to use and swap heads ? Currently using a Stiletto with a hickory handle, and want to upgrade soon.
It's not horrible but it's there. I believe estwing has a better antivibe handle. Love the hammer, but does still have some hand shock hitting certain things
It's not just the weight adding up on the carry belt. It also goes towards the longevity of your arms, wrists, elbows etc. from swinging all day for years on end. Sure, you're not going to start out, Day 1 with a $300 plus hammer etc., but if you plan on staying in the game for a long time, after about a year or so, when it comes time to upgrade, fall back on one of the oldest sayings in the Trades about our tools, "Buy Once, Cry Once." Buy quality tools and take care of them and they'll in turn, take care of you.
@@fixinthecoast267 You'd be surprised at how many ppl I talk to about me only using cordless tools, and MilwaukeeFUEL at that. I explain to them how much time I save by not having to roll out a compressor/ generator and all of the hoses and cords that go along with them, as well as rolling up at the end of the day. That alone can pay for the tool upgrades because you can work that much longer every day and get the jobs done faster and add more jobs throughout the year.
Great video! I've been building up my tools and I'm trying to make sure I get there best of everything, this was very helpful and I'll be checking out your other videos.
Love your videos mate ! Have you been loving the dead blow cap ? Really want to order a Martinez, I will use the dead blow a lot for aluminium windows, is it good for that stuff ? Or still not soft enough?
I have the m-4 because I am mainly a finish guy. But, I also use it for framing and anything else. It is awesome. If I was mostly framing I’d get the m-1 to be able to smash stuff better.
@@kickyourfaceandlaugh607 If you're not driving 20 penny nails, is it really legitimate construction? I feel like if you're going to build something, you should be using huge nails.
I've been a construction super for 25-7 years. Around 2001 a framer showed me the Stiletto 14oz. The world changed. Granted, as a super i don't drive many nails per year as my framing brothers, but this thing kills nails. Every 3-6 years I brake the handle and but buy a new $16 handle, and it's Excalibur again, for years. ($16 handle, again, $16) I have NEVER replaced the head of my 10oz, 12oz, 14oz Sillito titanium heads. Not one time. And they still kill nails, just a $16 dollar handle every so many years. This steel head guarantees hundreds of dollars every so many years to replace a head that should have been titanium in the first place. As I see this new breed, your handle is hundreds of dollars, and your head not much less, which will need to be tightened, checked often, and because it's steel, you will have to pay hundreds for the new one?? With the hammer, imho, we have entered a bad realm into showing our budding apprentices as to what is most important. To me, these new hammers are just like the BMW, best car in the world until the warranty wears out. Then you REALLY pay.- Don't be dumb boys. You do honorable work every day. You work so hard, as I see you every day. Please my boys, don't buy this hammer, unless you have nothing better to spend y ou money on.
Steel has better wear properties than titanium. Just take a look at all the bobtail stilettos out there. Keeping the titanium in handle keeps the weight savings and vibration dampening with the advantages of steel where it's more beneficial. The most efficient hammer has as little weight in the handle with all the weight in the head.
@@InspiredCraftsman I'm not trolling your fine channel, nor wish to have an argument. Just a chat about our great industry. I got my 14oz hickory handle in 2002, then the original tibone in 2004 for around $195??? . I just couldn't see the advantage nor economy of having to replace an expensive steel striker head. And I certainly did not like having to tighten the striking head every 2-3 days. Sold the tibone around 2010 for around $200. My hickory handle weighs almost nothing on my titanium head Stilleto from 2002. 6 months ago I finally broke the handle, cost me $17 on Amazon to replace it. So imho, in 2002 I paid $69 for the 14 oz hickory handle w/ titanium head. I recently paid $17 for a replacement handle. I'm not saying I'm right, this was just my experience. Your miles may vary. This hammer surpassed my first marriage!! LOL I just doubt most folks won't own these modern Cadillacs more than 5 years before they run off the job site. I'm just a 54 yr old Fud. But I will never get over my tool addiction. Keep up the good content.
@@balaton1 I'll tip my hat to you sir for expressing your experience without the usual vitriol found online. My take is the martinez addresses some of shortcomings of the tibone, you're mileage will vary. I enjoy my M1 and have some bias having made that purchase. Thanks for your input and contribution to the trades.
Hey been going through a lot of your videos. Great insight on so much. But I found your channel as I’m doing research on the M1. Does this video mean you stopped using your estwing hammer you said you liked over your M1 a few videos before this one? I definitely want the M1, but I’m not that big of a guy. Have you been using your M1 head on the M4 handle at all? I’m wondering if that a great set up for a smaller guy?
Yea I've stopped using estwing and replaced it with martinez. How ever, I now own the M1 and the M4 and I don't really ever use the M1 anymore either. The M4 has been the best all around hammer for framing, finish work, etc. I'd go M4 if I were you and never look back. You'll love it
@@fixinthecoast267 I know the waffle face helps with grip when driving larger nails, but do you know anything about the dimple head m4, is it necessary on a finish hammer?
That’s really awesome of Mark to send you those gifts. I bet he really likes seeing his tools being used hard.
Absolutely! He's awesome man

Cool stuff. I'm thinking about ordering an m4. Do you know if they send the head with the screw ir need to add screw to order. Thanks
