Try to upload the GRAB app (like an UBER) instead of taking the taxi. It is really safe, vehicles are very clean, and affordable. All the best and continue on enjoying the Philippines
As a foreigner living here in Manila, I guess you’d still be safe most of the time despite the pandemic. Just make sure you learn some Tagalog and as much as possible be with some local friends if they’re available.
Salamat sa pag tangkilik nang aming bansang sinilangan, ang Pilipinas/Philippines (Thank you for promoting our country where were born, which is the Philippines!) Sanayan oll to the Max! :)
Hi You're the first foreigner that discussed objectively the safety aspect of travelling in the Philipines. I like how the way you discussed which area not to travel to.
Hello Patrick I stumbled on your channel by accident. I am originally from the island Negros but living in Pennsylvania now. With the recent US Capitol riots in Washington DC it may seem that the country is quite "dangerous" to follow the logic of your episode presentation - How safe is the Phils. However, I appreciate your kind words about my native country. On a side note, JOLO is pronounced similarly to HULU.
Manila taxis are crazed crooks sometimes. Davao is wonderful. I've taken 100s of taxi trips, 100s. Never had an issue. Always turn the meter on and mainly a pleasant experience. Davao is great. I live just north, in Panabo City for almost three years. Sending love and good vibes from Marla and Fred 🇵🇭🇺🇸
Wow! Very objective and good review.. it's good to hear that the real experience could really prove that Philippines is safe to travel, except of course of some but rare circumstance(kidnapping case) and others that are also common to other places. Thank you so much!
love your shirt! ❤️ thank you for your honest observations and sharing your experience here in our country. I hope you get to see a lot more places here when this pandemic is over.
Wow! You are now in my country. I was watching you before I came to Kz. Now I am here for 3 years. Enjoy your stay there. Sorry for what happened with your credit card. Stay safe.
Thankyou for this very useful. I had read that there were high crime rates and I and my husband are considering moving there along with other areas of Malaysia.
Thank you Pat for sharing the bestest and honest experience you have in our country!! 🇵🇭 Tip: Usually, our backpacks becomes a frontpack when we are in a crowded places. Anyways, see you next time! I hope you'll do come back for more adventures here, more especially 'Siargao'🏄 soon..
I visited Davao City, Digos etc.. in Mindanao 7 times sometimes for 3 weeks or more never felt unsafe even at night, going to restaurants, riding taxi even tricycle or Jeepney,. I had to cancel my last trip due to the pandemic but I can't wait to go back there and to Palawan to see some more of it.
This is why I kinda like that the government just recently pass anti-terrorism law. I said "kinda", since there's a high chance an "evil" politician can abuse the anti-terrorism law (like red-tagging an innocent citizen as terrorist due to self-interest ). but at the same time, if the law is use properly, it is very helpful to get rid terrorist here in Philippines (fast and efficient (military perspective), since geographically it's really challenging to find the hideout of this terrorist in the wild mountains) . Like couple of months ago when they caught several Indonesian terrorist down at the south-west side of the country, that caused the suicide bombing, which usually takes years, if not many more months will pass, before it will be resolved or terrorist be caught. The law can also can also help our military intelligence to trace the terrorist before they commit crime, but then again, a corrupt politicians can use it for red tagging. So I still have mixed feelings about this law
I think, as in any part of the world you have to be alert & never lose your guard especially if you’re not familiar with the area. Right now I’m placing my wallet in my front pocket. I’m from Davao & yes it’s very safe. I hope you will experience Davao’s hospitality & tourism. 👍🏼😀
Anywhere in the world is potentially unsafe until you learned how to keep yourself free from danger wherever you go. Don't trust strangers around you😊 But Filipinos are one of the nicest people on Earth💖
Thank you my gf is from the Philippines and she wants me to travel back but as a Caucasian American I am kinda spooked about the mannerisms or just things that could happen to me in a foreign country and this has helped me gauge the expectancies and knowledge I need to travel to meet her family. Means a lot thank you.
I know that feeling too in dealing with some of the taxi drivers, but most of them are honest.. The back pack you mentioned the best is put it in front not at the back.. Thanks for sharing your honest opinion.. God bless and stay safe and take care of yourself always..
I agree with you re pickpockets. I’m a native and every time I come home I switch to a trifold wallet so that I can put it in my front pocket, NEVER in my back pocket. Everything else you said is also spot on.
Your T-shirt design is brilliant. The white logo against the black background is great. Although I find black colour is a bit manly for me. Would you consider different colour?
Very fair analysis, Pat. One thing I should mention: my (Filipino) boyfriend says holdups/robberies are becoming increasingly common at night as more Filipinos become financially desperate due to the COVID crisis.
Great content! I travel in a drawstring bag. with the cut resistant fabric, steel bands in the strings and low profile, it's perfect. No one is cutting into it or pulling it off me without a struggle. The petty thief will likely pass.
I must say when I saw your video title, I thought here we go, another foreigner about to say its so dangerous, but after the first minute, you proved my first impression wrong. I lived and worked in Mandaluyong for almost 3 year and I used to walk everywhere. I also visited a lot places in other parts of the Philippines including Davao, Cebu, Bohol etc. I never once felt any threat to my safety. The people are as you said so friendly, I just love it and I am so sad now that I can't get back there since March last year, as is my filipina gf stuck without me. I had to come back to Australia for some business matters and bang I got stuck! Actually, I never had any issues with the white taxis, only a couple of yellow tried to overcharge, but, I would advise everyone to use Grab (equivalent of Uber). My gf had her phone stolen once from her backpack near Boni station, an area I walked around several times every day, other than that nothing. You have to be smart just like anywhere else in the world, don't walk around advertising your wealth and treat the people with the respect they deserve. Well done on the video, the Philippines is great and I'll be back there as soon as international travel starts up and the Philippines accepts foreigners, hopefully by July.
Hi! I love watching your content, I hope you'll get to travel here in Angeles City as well. You can feature the current situation of Walking Street where many bars and night clubs had been closed when Pandemic started. I hope you can also feature more content about LGBT here in the Philippines cause I can relate very much.
I live Philippines and its more safe country I have see never problem even alone in night filipinos are verry peaceful people beside france where I from Philippines are verry verry safe
I would say, there is good and bad in everyone.....everywhere.....the main thing is you must take care also because it is not safe everywhere you go...but the good thing is Filipinos are very friendly and hospitable....
Yes, but it's still much much more friendlier then other places(imho) even when comparing to Thailand(no offence) but, ofcourse every place is going to have good and bad places
buses bound for central and north luzon and baguio "summer capital" now opening-up in pampanga you can visit san fernando / train station museum of bataan death march during worldwar-II, kalesa ride/horse driven to visit heritage dist, lantern makers since its the xmas and culinary capital, biggest tocino factories, biggest mc donald's in asia, biggest SM outside of metromanila with span of 1 kilometer. resorts half submerge churches, furniture/casket makers, guitar, pottery, jeepney fabricators home decors... in angeles visit clark airbase museum/ parade grounds/ century old housing facilities, haunted hosp, casinos, resorts, water parks, resto's walking street-red dist. native resto's to have sisig, bamboo cooked specialties, insects, frogs and other exotic deli...you can also book a trip to mt.pinatubo there...
You’re very knowledgeable about your surroundings. Keep up the great work as it will help you to survive. Philippines is much safer now. The government is really doing a good job in protecting foreigners and Filipinos alike.
Oh diba, Baclaran is sort like touring/sightseeing in Malaysia/Indonesia? Like what u see in Baclaran, u see no difference at all. Baguio is also like PALOS Verdes.
Excellent and realistic advise about kidnapping by Abu Sayeff, and pickpockets over the world. Tourist areas in Europe almost always have signs saying "Beware of pickpockets." Been there and saw the signs myself. .
When travelling in Metro Manila use Grab. Download the apps. Youll see how much they charged from point A to point B, then the name of the driver is posted there, Its very safe. Its what i do everytime im in Manila. And you are correct, taxi drivers are the worst scammers but to my knowledge it happens anywhere in the world even pickpocketing too. But since youre a world traveler, you are very experienced in how to stay safe. And also glad that so far youre having fun staying in our country.
When you are in crowded areas don't put your bag on the back put in front instead.
That “no kuya, no po” words, you’re really adapting Philippines already. Thank you so much❤️
Hello there, Come to Baguio city and experience our taxis here...😁 They will even u change even for one peso....😀
Thank you great video very informative... ❤️👍👍✌️
Back pack should become front pack when in over crowded places
All countries are not perfect. There will be a bad side but majority are positive including the Philippines. Thank you Patrick. God Bless You.
Try to upload the GRAB app (like an UBER) instead of taking the taxi. It is really safe, vehicles are very clean, and affordable. All the best and continue on enjoying the Philippines
you mean "download" (the app) into his phone 'coz "upload" is like uploading photos into the social media
I use Grab often too. Taxis and jeepneys are much cheaper for shorter distances 😊
@@PatMaxAdventures Grab is expensive nowadays unlike when there was Uber before.
