It’s a great dress. I have the opposite problem, flat derrière, or just about. All my dresss need the back altered shorter. This is why I love sewing so much. Pants that fit correctly only come from my sewing room. 😊
YES! So many come to sewing because of fit issues. We are all so different. Once you have a pair of custom fitted pants it is hard to wear anything else!
Hey Gal! I love how your slopers are coming along. I want to make new custom slopers so badly. My size is changing again so I am waiting for it to settle down. Then I will be back on the slopers too!
Yes, this style hides all kinds of things! 😅 It would be pretty easy to add a little cap sleeve or a flounce. I need to make up a cap to slip into dresses like this. Thanks for watching!
This turned out really good! It has a little vintage feel! And I love the color! You made the invisible zipper look so easy! I have never successfully sewn a big 4 pattern that I can wear. I actually recently bought a couple big 4 patterns to try and use as a sloper for drafting my own patterns or checking fit on other patterns. Definitely on the struggle bus with it. I bought Butterick 6850 as a princess seam sloper and I haven't done it yet but have tried an old vogue pattern 1004 and Butterick 6849 and it didn't go so well. Have you ever heard of the Sew/Fit Manual? Its a book from the 70s by Ruth Oblander and Joan Anderson. Its solving fit issues using pivot and slide techniques. Their philosophy on which size to pick is interesting. Its a measurement taken from the front basically from armpit to armpit and they have a formula telling you which big 4 size to start from in the neck/shoulder area and grade out from there. Nancy Zieman's techniques are very similar. For some reason I have been fixated lately on these slopers and I can't seem to get past them. 😂
Thank you! So many comment of the difficulty of fit with the standard pattern. There are a few out there adding cup size options but I am finding the independent pattern companies are more size and fit inclusive. I have heard of the Sew/Fit method. There is a current one with the same philosophy for pants. It makes sense! When I have made custom slopers, I use a pattern as the starting place. Once I start fitting and the darts move, deepen at the top shorten at the bottom, the waistline dips in the front... They change so much from the starting point. I have an outline for this but I am waiting until my size settles. 😅 This is a planned video series though! Please pop back in the comments and let me know where you go in this journey. Other will find it helpful too! I see the sew/fit is still available. I need to check it out.
Thanks for the sew along. Love the colour you chose and the dress looks great on you.
Thank you! 💕
Nice make, I love your sewing space 💞

I love this style of dress! It helps to hide my tummy, but I need a sleeve. Even just a small sleeve.
