Oh my gosh, that’s high praise you kind soul! Marfy is Next Level sewing and I am enchanted by people who sew Marfy. I can only dream of a “someday” with those beautiful patterns. Thanks again!!
I just subbed to your channel. My mother was an avid sewer. Seeing those patterns brings back such memories. I am a barber and sewing machine collector. I own only Singers as my Uncle was a sewing machine repairman . He is 90 yrs young and still has many good words to tell about the older machines. Very fun to watch your videos, you are a cute kind and gentle lady. A good person 👍😀
Hello famasmaster! I have a Singer Featherweight that I just love. There’s a reason those old mechanicals are highly collectible - they work. And the straight stitches are glorious. How fabulous to have a sewing machine repairman in the family! My husband’s grandfather spruced up my Featherweight one year many moons ago; he is long gone. I truly favor 1960’s patterns for clothing and have a video entirely devoted to the old styles made a little more modern. Welcome!
Hello Viv! It’s me “the Vivmom binge watcher”😆. I can’t help but smile every time I view your videos. You brighten up my day. You’re always very “real” by sharing all the pain, heartaches and failures. That’s why I find you so relatable. By you being who you are, you’re able to make connections when you offer prayers and words of encouragement- because it comes across so sincere. You gave me hope to continue sewing when you said “I use to feel bummed out when I’d read people’s comment on how they were able to sew a garment without reading instructions, but now I’m able to say that too”. Then you went on to say “you can too”! Thank you for giving me encouragement- you’re the BEST!
Aww sweet I M, thank you! Your comments have given me such a lift. And I hope my sincerity comes through because I really do pray for folks - I have to write things down but then they are there in front of me when I pray or when I pray with Brad or my sister Carol. She’s been coming over for the last month (once a week) so that we have dedicated prayer time, primarily for our country and the turmoil herein, but also for friends and family. It’s been such a refreshing and edifying time together we’d like to continue. At any rate, thanks again for being here and enhancing my RUclips adventures. And you WILL progress with sewing because that’s just how it works: every project brings us forward with more knowledge and know-how.😃
And the winner is...drumroll...Burda!!!!🎉🎉🎉. Everything about it suits you. The color is perfect and the overall effect is stunning. Great job without instructions. You could probably sew anything without instructions.
Amazing makes, my friend. The wine one and green one were my favorite s on you. Colors were stunning. So proud of how far you’ve come with your sewing skills! I’ve been sewing for over 50 years and still learning. It’s a never ending process.💕
I look so forward to your videos!!! You have such enthusiasm....you could make a paper sack and describe it passionately!!!!! To the tops...winners all. Thank you for sharing your sewing with us. Hope you are feeling better....
You amaze me, with how you make normal oldish patterns look like new. I love the stretchy tops, I must look for a pattern as I have a stretch fabric I want to make a top of .... and two of your tops are narrow sleeves and that is what I am looking for , a tight fit. I do like your skinny jeans it makes all the tops look so nice . I normally just glance through the instructions, but I just put things together the way I am use to ..... nice works ....🌹❤️🌹❤️
You are so pretty. I like all of the tops you made. Day after day I watch RUclips sewers make beautiful garments and clever home decor, but cannot get motivated to get back into sewing. i started making a sewing area in my family room several months ago, but have not finished it. A few weeks ago I ordered fabric to make navy pants, but so far have only washed it. I bought a vintage cotton sheet and cut out a nightgown, but cannot get myself to finish. The winter blues and COVID have taken their toll on me, but I feel myself slowly coming around. i started painting and crafting again, so I know I will conquer that sewing one of these days! In the meantime, I love sitting back and watching your videos. Thank you.
Take heart, Helen. We’ve all been in the Blahs, I’m afraid, and it’s because we’re still reeling from our lives being so disrupted. There’s a mix of grief and anger and confusion and impatience and...depression. My sewing energy has waxed and wane this year more than usual. But I can report that it feels good to just sew something, anything, a little bit here and there and then the energy kind of builds on itself. And any crafting is worthy to keep our minds active (and distracted.) I know you’ll be sewing those pants soon, and wearing them too!👏👏
@@vivmomsews4962 Thanks for the encouragement! I know the world situation has affected many of us in this way. I just need to push through like others do. Maybe today I will at least change the sewing machine needle that is broken, and see where I can go from there. 🙂
Love all tops I used to sew without instructions but I took it as 2 yrs in high school we sewed 4 hrs a day for 2 years course called fashion arts in london ontario. I sewed for over 25 years now starting back after 20 years of no sewing at 66 years need instructions now but starting to enjoy as lost my husband 1year a go so is helping me pass the time remaking his shirts over either pillows or t-shirts for me so I can keep him close way or another makes smile now wearing what once was his shirt 😊😍
We're all a little squirrely these days. I got my 1st dose Covid vax Wednesday, so have been a little lethargic, arm hurt, and mild body aches. Feeling pretty good now. Need to clean house, and get back to sewing. It always makes me feel better. I love all your tops, and they fit so well. I remember my mom sewing up a whole outfit in one sitting, without any instructions. I think when you know the basics there's a lot you can do without instructions, and needless to say, you know what you're doing. Thanks for being you, and sharing your beautiful work. Very encouraging.
Vivmom, Always a treat to see your videos! I am So Glad you are doing better. You remind me so much of Linda Evans the actress.( JMO) Have a great day !
❤️ your information and uplifting personality ❣️ Enjoy watching and learning. My mother sold for the public. She sewed Vogue for her customers. She learned in home economics Our town had Girls and Boys High School. 😊. She was very particular when she sewed. She never attempted to teach me. LOL❣️. I’m not as precise. So now that I’m retired I’m ready to try to learn simple tops and dresses. 😊❤️
That top you made with no instructions is gorgeous! I'm a huge fan of crepe back satin and I loved how you used both sides! All of your tops looked great on you. I also loved the wine colored one and the one with the pink flounce. I hope next week will be better for you. All God's special blessings to you and your family. Thanks for sharing 💕
Dear Viv, I wanted to Thank-you for letting everyone know that Hobby Lobby was having patterns on for .99cents. I really appreciated that as I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and we never get deals like that on patterns. Patterns runs around $18.95 -$ 24.95 and rarely go on sale! I had my friend in Texas go with my list and pick up the patterns I wanted. Talk about excited, she has posted them to me and I can hardly wait!!! Thank-you again Viv, Linda
Your tops are beautiful!!! I can’t believe you made them without even trying them on, they fit so well. I would like to have every single one of them! The Nicole Miller crepe back satin gold one is so elegantly gorgeous.❤️ Can’t believe you made it without the instructions. Awesome! The first top you were wearing is sooo cute. Also love the style of the the wine colored linen top and the ribbon makes it so nice. The knit top looks so comfortable and cozy, love the loose look of it. So does the striped sweater top. You would never know you had a bad week looking at the results with your tops! Have a great weekend! 🤗💕
Hi Viv. I love the tops. Good job! I wanted to do sew away the blues. I have nothing this time. Next time. I am proud of everyone whom sews. My husband an naturalmother both died this week. I have been my husband’s caregiver for a long time. Your sewing channel always cheers me up and motivates. Thankyou Viv.
Oh Gina, I am heartbroken to hear of your sad news. You’ll be in my prayers. This is a time for gentle self care, and being surrounded by anyone or anything which can bring comfort and joyful memories. You’ve suffered a walloping couple of losses. I will pray for peace like a river to guide you, blessed assurance that you gave the best of yourself to your husband and mom, and bright hope for tomorrow.❤️
Thankyou Viv. Your so kind. We are having a worldwide Zoom for anyone whom needs the encouragement. I have so much support Thanks to Jehovah the god of comfort. Your a comfort. Thankyou so much.
Love all your tops! My favourite is the Simplicity 3786. The colour on you is beautiful! You are one brave woman to tackle that top without instructions...double high five to you! Lol! 😃🇨🇦
Listen, even after sewing for 57 years, I still read the the instructions. I usually read them before I cut the fabric, sometimes even when I get the pattern home. Heck, I've read the instructions while I'm at the pattern drawer, lol! You never know if there will be a new technique or a simpler way of assembly that you weren't a are of before. I seldom read the instructions while sewing (unless it's something like an Issey Miyake pattern which can be real head scratchers) but I always read the instructions. All your tops looked great! Who can't use some new tops? Especially with all the Zoom calls, it's all about what's on top.
What an amazing bunch of makes. You look great. I am very proud of you. Joy Bernhardt has so many good things to say about you and your sewing. Always asking people to go to your channel. We all love you and your family. Thank you for sharing with us your love of sewing.A lot of us are shut in’s now and need some good vibes our way. Thank You.
All the tops are fabulous. The wine color with the floral trim is beautiful and the Burda,no instruction one is so elegant. I would wear the pretty pink ruffle top on Sunday for Valentine's Day.
I like all of your makes but the Burda 6219 is my favorite! The fabric choices are perfect for you! And who knows, you'll probably find the instructions tucked in another envelope someday - ha ha (not that you needed them)!
Wow! Every one of those tops looked fabulous. My favorite is the Burda top. I can’t believe you sewed that up with no instructions. That’s amazing! Especially being a Burda pattern. I have trouble with those even with instructions. You have inspired me 😊
I think we're all just on the same page any more. All of these tops were FABULOUS!!!!! And congratulations on leveling up on your sewing skills! That is kind of exciting! Sewing Without Instructions!!! It's like riding the bicycle on your own for the first time!! YAY! VIVMOM!!
All your tops look great. No sewing going on here for a bit. I am doing home repairs on a house we got for our daughter where she went to college. Well it is time to sell the house and the realtor gave us a list of things that need to be fixed........not my favorite thing to do but progress is being made.
I absolutely love your enthusiasm! I really liked every top you made this time and am especially impressed by your ability to sew without the instructions! I helped my daughter sew some stretch pants from a Burda pattern recently (don't tell her but stretch knits terrify me!) And we too could not find the instructions. Finally I realized they (the instructions) were printed (lightly and difficult to notice at a glance) on the tissue pattern paper.. They had almost gone out with the trash! I may just push the quilting and mending aside and make a top this weekend - you've inspired me!!
I have only just found your you tube and I cannot stop watching you. You are an amazing dress maker you are. I love the way you fashion your makes so much that I’ve bought so many more patterns. Please keep doing what you are doing you are a breath of fresh air.
Lovely wine top! That crepe back satin is just gorgeous! You are so creative😊 I don’t think I’ve ever make something without instructions-way to go Viv👍 awesome job! All 5 makes are great-the last one is my favorite. Rock star!
They're all great on you Viv! The Burda top is gorgeous! You have the best pattern collection😆 I hope your week improved. I turned 50 this week and made a blue floral dress for a birthday lunch with a friend. It turned into a surprise gal lunch with my sisters and two friends I hadn't seen for many years. It was amazing. I'm getting used to the idea of being 50, although I don't know how it happened 😯 Take care. Gabrielle xx
Foxy 50-girl! You look fabulous! I loved hearing about your girls’ luncheon, what fun! Just the perfect way to usher in the 50’s - which I’ve enjoyed a lot so far. There’s less fretting over things and a healthy dose of “oh who cares!” going on with a lot of little worries I used to have. Enjoy!
The no-instructions-sew Burda top is beautiful. I love just about everything you make as far as style and fabrics that are chosen, Ms. Fashionista Viv. Now to finish my work (Zooming for court hearings) and I should be able to finish my easy-to-sew project and turn it in on time. I realize I'm up against MANY professional/experienced sewers, but I'm not one of them. This journey is still very new to me, but I'm not giving up. I'm rambling -- excuse me. Best to all, always.
No need to be a professional sewer or even close to it, my dear artisticrabbit. We are all just enjoying the craft and the fun of designing. Lord knows I’ve had some disaster/doozies in my past but every project moves us onward.😃
@@vivmomsews4962 Well, my son is going to post it on his Instagram. It's a skirt I sewed for his daughter, my granddaughter, using quilting cotton. I ran into several setbacks (computer), but I persevered and I believe I'm going to make the deadline.
Ii love the linen, wine color top you made. That's going to be comfy to wear while looking put together. Now you know thay you don't need the instructions. That's great especially considering it was a Burda pattern. Glad you're feeling better. Take care and happy stitching.
Yes this past week was not my favorite! Oh well! One day at a time is best for me! LOVED all the tops you made! Even though I am not able to sew right now, I am getting some good inspiration! Already purchased some patterns that you had on previous videos! Keep them coming!
Great tops that inspire me to make some too! The linen and the Nicole Miller fabrics are fabulous. And I think jeans, boots and a motorcycle jacket would dress down the Burda.
Bravo for the no instructions top which is elegant. My other favorite is the linen one. You could wear that to any event..a king's (or queen's) coronation! You are right.. not a great week, but oh well.
Yes working an 8 to 5 is a beast. I've been trying to sew a project once a week but I'm slow and a beginnger in most common woven finishes like bindings.. Hannah Vivmom you're a quick sewer!
All very pretty! Really like the necklines. The one with the shiny tie is gorgeous! Great use of that fabric. Best wishes for an easy count. Yikes, there are so many entries!
Love your channel, yes we must fight the negative. I thank God for you, I never had a Quick Sew pattern but because of you I got several and I am So GLAD I did because they don't sell patterns for clothes anymore. Happy Valentine's Day to you and hubby💕💕Wonderful couple. God bless all the family.
Those tops are all terrific! I wanted to thank you for the heads-up about the Hobby Lobby sewing pattern sale! I went on Monday and met a lady choosing some. She is a member of a sewing club and invited me to join. I did and am looking forward to the first meeting! Zoom of course. I might have never met her if I missed the sale. Thank you.
Good morning Viv, how are you today? I love the tops you made, but my favorite is the one that you made with the gold bow in the front. that is absolutely gorgeous and the fabric is wonderful. I have done what you have done and made tops and not tried them on at all until a later date. It is such a joy to watch you show your items that you make for us to see. Take care now God bless your family and looking forward to your next video. Stay safe. 😉
Wowza! What a fun video! That first top, the burgundy one, is incredibly gorgeous! I love the ribbon detail. It totally makes the lines of the top pop! You look amazing in it! I also love the one you sewed without instructions. Well done, and it also looks very flattering on you! I went to sew a skirt for my daughter this morning and couldn't find the instructions, which immediately put me into a panic. I was just about to tackle it on my own when, to my huge relief, I found the instruction sheet! I just love your encouragement to us! I'm so glad to see your bright, happy self today! With love, Tammy from Utah.
Hi Tammy! I totally understand the relief you felt when you found the instructions. Then again, maybe we underestimate ourselves. I have faith that you could’ve whipped that skirt up successfully! And Tammy, thanks for always leaving me such tremendous comments!!
VivMom, Great fashion show! You've been busy ! I was attracted to two tops that I'd love to make up using Asian fabric. Simplicity 3786 and Burda 6219. They both gave me a feeling of a modified kimono with a bit of an obi sash. One of these days you're going to give me a good push into my sewing room to sew up my stash. It's just so closed off. Well, as you said before, "Sewing waits for you." And it does. Thanks for another fun video! Nancy in Mobile.
I was hoping to join the sew-away-the -blues group but couldn't make it home in time. Been helping my 83yo mom move and then winter storms have delayed my stay. Hope to drive 14 hours tomorrow to get home before the next snow storm! I love all the tops. Can't wait to be snowed in at home and sew sew sew.!
Gorgeous makes, Vivi! They all look great on you and it is so cool that without even doing any fitting they are all just fine. I have that Vogue pattern with the tight sleeves and after reading about it on Pattern Review made sure to note the tight sleeves on the envelope before I eventually decide on a fabric for it. I've read about so many people who have really had a bad week recently...lots of Fibro flares and other troubles. Joy's daily devotionals have really been helping my mood. Hope you have a good weekend.
They are all nice but the one in the crepe backed satin is outstanding! I don't think I would have picked it from the envelope but it looks fantastic on you. Kudos for sewing without instructions too.
Hi Viv!! I love your videos and I've never made a garment yet...lol I've only been sewing for about 2 years. I've made purses, totes, quilts, all sorts of placemats and table runners. I did just buy a few shirt patterns so hopefully I'll be wearing one of my own makes soon. I watched one of your videos of you sewing ....You're a great teacher and hope you do more tutorials, but don't stop talking about the fabrics you choose, because I think choosing fabrics is what intimidates me the most. Thanks for all you do. :)
Success! You've outdone yourself. The trick must be not to try anything on. The last satin backed top is SO beautiful. Very glamorous! And I have been thinking you would be darling in a couple of different flounce skirts. (Not with the satin backed top.) I have a few straight skirts with a flounce and I can't help but think they must be flattering on EVERYONE. I also love flounced dresses. You are the master! See how life is full surprises even in the worst of times?
Love all of these tops! We can be twins, my lovely sewing sister-I have the fabric you made the ruffles knit top with and the dusty lavender stripe sweater knit, too.😊😊
They all look great! Looking forward to hear and see the winner of your sew away the blues. I didn’t enter, but can’t wait to see the entires. I’m hoping you will make a slide video of all the entries. I’d love to see what other’s have sewn.
I think all the tops were great so no fail there. I love the one in the satin and you did a great job without a pattern. The color looks great on you Viv. Love your videos and your personality.
Your tops are all so cute...I knew they were all going to turn out beautifully. I especially like the grey one...I’ll have to look for that pattern. Thanks for your happy positive attitude (even after a hard week). You are a ray of sunshine.
Yes - half my week was rough. So I think I will forget about it and concentrate on the half that was good. Your tops are great! Good job making them, especially during a tough week.
You look cute in all the tops but the Burda top is gorgeous! Great color on you and looks elegant. Bravo on sewing it without instructions. I have sewn for decades and still haven't sewn without instructions.
This was fun! I wouldn't have picked V9364 but it looked good on you. Now I'm interested in that pattern. So funny that you mixed it up with the other pattern...easy to do. Love seeing these types of videos. So fun to see the patterns come to life on you. Hope next week is a better week for you!
Love the wine top, the ruffled, the one with the gold belt (you look great in metallic fabric). Truthfully, you have such a great shape you’d look good in a gunny sack! They were all cute. Look to Christ. He is our hope.
You are the fabric Queen! You find the best fabrics to make the nicest clothes EVER! Loved them all and the satin one so rich looking! Yes it has been a long week 😅 and so nice for you to bring such a needed surprise of Sewing to us. Thank you Thank you❣️ Beautiful jewelry from great special people in your life💕 I appreciate you taking the time to show patterns and makes to help me know what is out there to Sew. 😁😀😁
I love all of your tops, especially the last one. It looks quite elegant with the dark pants. No. 3 (I believe that's right ) at first glance looks like a tutu, but still pretty. Ir made me smile
Beautiful tops Viv. The satin bscked one without instructions is so elegant. I could see it with matching slim leg pants in the same fabric. That would be a beautiful special occasion outfit. 🌼🌷❤🥰

The top with the bow and no instructions is absolutely gorgeous!!!
I swear, Viv, you can wear anything! All your tops look adorable on you!
Hope you're feeling better, you've been in my prayers. ❤🌹🙏
Thank you, sweet Cece!!
I love all the tops. I have made that first pattern several times. Love you in all the tops! 🥰🍷
Lovely wine top! That crepe back satin is just gorgeous! You are so creative😊 I don’t think I’ve ever make something without instructions-way to go Viv👍 awesome job! All 5 makes are great-the last one is my favorite. Rock star!
Hi CJ! You know I always read your comments with an ear-to-ear smile. Everyone here is such a sweet gift to me.💕
@@vivmomsews4962 you know I love you!❣️❣️
You amaze me with your sewing. You inspire me to sew. You seem like such a happy soul. Hugs from Montana
Hugs right back to you, Kimber! Thanks for your lovely comments.
@@vivmomsews4962 😀😀
They're all great on you Viv! The Burda top is gorgeous! You have the best pattern collection😆 I hope your week improved. I turned 50 this week and made a blue floral dress for a birthday lunch with a friend. It turned into a surprise gal lunch with my sisters and two friends I hadn't seen for many years. It was amazing. I'm getting used to the idea of being 50, although I don't know how it happened 😯 Take care. Gabrielle xx
Welcome to the fifty club, be young at heart and you 'll never know the years pass by.
Enjoy!
@@vivmomsews4962 Thank you Viv😘
@@wowzieee That is very sweet of you. I think it's a pretty cool club😆
@@artisticrabbitatease2806 Make sure he has “hashtagged” it joyvivsewblues
What is his name? I want to make sure it’s there.

Hi, Vivmom. So happy to see you sewed five tops and they all look fabulous on you. You're quite the model and you make this time so much fun to watch.
Ii love the linen, wine color top you made. That's going to be comfy to wear while looking put together. Now you know thay you don't need the instructions. That's great especially considering it was a Burda pattern. Glad you're feeling better. Take care and happy stitching.
Thanks Debbie. Yes - a Burda pattern no less, the ones that scare me! Thank heavens it was an easy top!
Yes this past week was not my favorite! Oh well! One day at a time is best for me!
LOVED all the tops you made! Even though I am not able to sew right now, I am getting some good inspiration! Already purchased some patterns that you had on previous videos! Keep them coming!
Love all the tops but adore the Burda make.
You are right.. not a great week, but oh well.
love your enthusiasm....I have been sewing for many years & it's so nice to see the craft keep on going...
I love the pink ruffle blouse. All your makes are nice.
I also love the pattern with the bow. Just lovely!
Yes working an 8 to 5 is a beast. I've been trying to sew a project once a week but I'm slow and a beginnger in most common woven finishes like bindings.. Hannah Vivmom you're a quick sewer!
No.4 is my favourite and I love the skinny pants which I will definitely make, lovely work❤️🇬🇧
Wine colored top is really pretty! Great job!!!!
They are all beautiful and look great on you. Blessings to you in the week ahead.
All very pretty! Really like the necklines. The one with the shiny tie is gorgeous! Great use of that fabric. Best wishes for an easy count. Yikes, there are so many entries!
That last top, 8952...it's just so very flattering on you!
Thank you.
Oh that’s so cool, Leann! Thanks for telling me!
Winners all....you did it again!
VivMom,
Great fashion show!
I love that you actually make everyday cloths that comfortable
All your tops were absolutely beautiful on you! Happy Valentine's Day and weekend!
They all look wonderful on you! My you have a much better week ahead.
Burda top looks great with the jeans!
Oh Cheri, you’re a sweet daughter to help out your mom. That’s time well spent. I’m praying for your safe travels between storms!🙏
I like the tip on using store bought bias tape to stabilize knits!! So fun to see you sewing and modeling again. I miss your recipes though😁
very nice and good for you sewing with no instructions, bravo!
You are certainly a gift to all of us, thank you!! Love all the tops!
Love all of them.💞💞💞💞💞🕊
All of your tops are lovely. I particularly like your linen one it’s soooo smart.🇦🇺
Really love that first linen top! And your sewing jewelry is lovely.
Hope your next week is better.
I love them all but that sweater knit top looks so comfy. Everything you pair, patterns and fabric, suit you so well.
Oh Chris, that’s a bit beyond my editing capabilities. You can always check out the hashtag joyvivsewblues to see all the entries on instagram!😃
very cute, you have such good taste with the imbellishments you put on your clothes.
Well done Viv! You nailed the fit on all of them,My favorite is the classic looking wine colored top,
I think all the tops were great so no fail there.
No. 4 shirt is amazing I will definitely get that pattern ❤. Happy valentine's day ⚘
I love the Burda top, so classy. You are so talented and I love to watch your videos. I have had a bad sewing week too. Nothing to show.
I enjoy your choices..imbelishments..and fun explainations..you are an inspiration and just plain fun to watch. Thanks for your enthousiasm
You look cute in all the tops but the Burda top is gorgeous! Great color on you and looks elegant. Bravo on sewing it without instructions. I have sewn for decades and still haven't sewn without instructions.
They all look nice on you.
Love your videos. Nice tops, keep inspiring us.
All tops are great👍❤️ Happy Valentine's day
Love all your tops. You make such beautiful clothing 💖
Lovely tops you have sewn. I think they all look wonderful! Hope you are feeling better.
Love all your tops. So talented. I cant wait till i can do that. Love that satin one with ties in front. Very dressy looks great on you...
I hope you have gathered up a lot of strength from your viewers. You are very talented and seem to be very sweet. Have a better week.
You look stunning in all the tops!! And my favorite is the one made without instructions. Love your videos ❣️
