Love what Dave said on the first call about his taxes! That's for all those commenters out there who are always whining about how Dave takes every loophole on his taxes. There's a big difference between loopholes and doing something illegal.
When some people got the stimulus money, they blew it. I looked at it, looked at my life and realized, I could afford to pay for technical college classes. The next stimulus cash flowed my next semester. I graduated with an Associates degree and no student debt from it.
Dave I’m what many people would call left wing and I can honestly say you are awesome. you’ve helped millions of people get out of debt and drastically improve their lives-including me. Above all you are a truth teller and that is more important and valuable than anything else. There’s not enough of that in the world.
Thank you for what you do Dave! Just found you about 4 months ago and I had no idea I was already working the baby steps my whole life! My House is paid,2 vehicles paid , we don’t owe anyone anything!!! No credit card debt! And a over fully funded emergency fund of a years salary . And a good chunk invested in a retirement fund. I’ve been called cheap among other things because I was not willingly going in debt, use my vacation, and over spend on somebody’s destination wedding. Hell we only had a hand full of people at our wedding in town and it was just as special! I’m not a big reader but my little book I call my financial bible has been the “ wealthy barber “ book it’s a great little read. But if you could just do one thing to help your self is live with in your means ! Thank you Dave for what you do and I hope one day this becomes a mandatory class in our schools to get them before the credit card company does!!!!
Financial peace isn't the acquisition of stuff. It's learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. You can't win until you do this. --Dave Ramsey
Fanatical levels of integrity exists in those who look at the big picture, don’t do impulsive things, plan, delay gratification, play the long game, etc.
Dave's talk on personal responsibility goes way further than just finances. People lack it in nearly every aspect of their life. Though I do think that is what he teaches anyways. Social Media unfortunately is the plague on peoples minds in terms of thinking you are not living life properly. Living within your means is about all you need to become rich. I'm so thankful I've followed that advice for over a decade. Hoping to nearly outright buy a home in the next few years thanks to it.
Wow, I had never heard the first call until now... that's disgusting of that caller to not even care about abusing the system. Makes me sad for our future as a society, I'm betting he's not the only one that thinks that way.
To me the sad thing is that the ultra rich and all large corporations work to minimize their tax bill at much as feasible. Is that immoral as well? I think it definitely is; everyone should pay their fair share. Any tax code will have unintended consequences and loopholes. Those with the most money just have the resources and ROI to make tax avoidance an annual occurrence.
i love this! People are sitting on their thumb ( butt lol ) waiting on SOMEONE else to swoop in and fix their lifes. If you dont get up, get out there, kill something and drag it home, youre screwed! Ain't this the truth. my goodness! I want to thank you guys so much for this, im on baby step #2
So glad the first guy called and got the Ramsey special. That’s the problem. I paid my way through 9 years of college and came out debt free with a high paying job and I didn’t expect ANYONE to pay ANYTHING for me. I think because I was raised that way and my parents and grandparents saw that was my mindset they felt good about helping from time to time when my car was broke down or I needed an extra room to stay in because I didn’t want to sign a new lease in a bad area when I was almost there in terms of success. Young people are killing us. They’re bleeding us because they don’t care AT ALL to use our money but you wait. One day it’ll be them and their jaw will drop when they’re hit with the concept from the other end of the stick.
Never should have shut down anything...... If people were terrified, they should have the freedom to shut themselves down. The fearful should not have had the power to shut down the people who weren't afraid against their will. But that's exactly what happened.
hard for me to believe the number 1 predictor of great welth is integrity. It appears that most people that are extremely rich are not the most integrous. How on earth do you research individual integrity without doing a deep investigation to learn if your subjects are lying?
Hilarious how the video starts with Dave saying no one got rich scamming the government, and toward the end talks about how people got rich scamming the government
My neighbors are retired and recently they had to take a second mortgage on their property because they spent a very large amount of money on a game. I think it’s farm vill or something like that. Their plan was to sell what they “invested in” they lost big time. I’m pretty confident they lost 200k.
Im so glad that i dont have to make the same mistake that you made . Thank you for sharing ur history. ❤ i can simply follow baby steps. I dont have time to invest wrong, to learn from my mistakes, thank you!!!!
Gotta say; I think we have societal blindspots as to what counts as integrity. When you look at how duplicitous and can kicking our institutions are, it's hard to think many rich people actually have much integrity. Maybe to their "in group," but now you again "sort of" have integrity AKA you don't.
An integer is a countable number (1, 2, 3, etc.) but also including zero and negative numbers. "Whole" numbers are the subset of integers NOT including negative numbers. "Natural" numbers are whole numbers, but not including zero. Fun, seemingly arbitrary stuff.
Seeing Dave try to wrap his head around paid downloaded content and online micro transactions is hilarious. I have paid money to decorate my virtual house haha.
this is an extreme case of misuse of student loans, vast majority of students, only have this option for higher education. as much as I like Dave Ramsey, he is against student loans no matter what.
It's about power and control. Even the almighty Al Capone was brought down not because of his ties with the bootleggers and the Mob, but, get this, income tax evasion.
I once heard a story that lots of college students were buying Bitcoin with their college loans. I can't think of a stupider way to waste a college loan.
The hustle and grind mentality lasted a year on social media, then everyone changed the narrative and said they're only going to do the bare minimum and expect more from that 💀
Yes kids today are so much more sophisticated than we were. We payed actual money to furnish our doll or Barbie houses ( that we actually had in our hands) versus paying actual money to funish something that doesn't actually exist. Vicki
I just want to comment on some of the FarmVille stuff. I see a lot of older people that laugh and joke when people buy things in games and spend real money, but what isn’t talked about is at the end of the day it’s entertainment. So spending $20 on a game item or skin or whatever is no different than spending that same $20 on a movie ticket. Both way you have nothing physical to show for it. You either have a memory of a movie or you have a fantasy item which at the end of the day neither of them help you out in any real life situation. But I do agree with Dave where like anything this can become a problem and people can get too wrapped up in what they have in game and forget that it’s not real but I think that’s the 1% extreme of gamers.
I follow the DR show and I agree with most of his teachings, and he has taught me much. But I think he is wrong about credit cards. I pay my balance in full each month. What is wrong with getting rewards of 2 to 5% for each purchase? Also, credit cards make life much easier and safer than carrying a wallet full of money. One more thing why would I drive a 20-year-old car, when I could buy a new car every 4 or 5 years with the latest technology and safety features? I do save and spent sensibly so I could afford these luxuries.
I just did the math. $1,770,000,000,000 (yes trillion) in current student loan debt DIVIDED by 158,000,000 (million, for the ignorant college students......) working Americans equals over $11,000 per working American citizen. I'm a Highschool dropout, making a $100,000 salary. Why the fuck am I paying for you????
Considering tons of students use their allocated student loans to go to concerts, party, and fund their drug addictions it ain't that bad to pay off a car. Not much different from business owners buying things for "work" and making them as a write off.
Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day praying for everyone everyday God bless you all
Is taking the tax payer’s money to pay off a student loan really that different from using real-estate loopholes to reduce your tax burden? The first caller isn’t suggesting something illegal, just like loopholes aren’t illegal.
Actually it is illegal. Student loans are only for use to pay costs directly related to school - tuition, housing and books - not cars. The loan agreements state this very clearly.
I believe the very 1st caller was fictitious. I think he made that up to try to throw a wrench in anybody getting student loan debt relief because that's one of the main topics that they're having as to Y they did not want to pass it because they felt like most of the people would waste the money that they were forgiven.
