Poor ump's little feelings got hurt, had to toss em
perfect comment
Awwww, the evil player dropped his boomstick, I'm offended!
Yup no further explanation needed.
Umps are typically fat losers with thin skin.
@@killer408cid if umps are useless then how can you play a game of baseball?
I kind of agree with the calls, but the ejection is just insecurity by the ump
i don’t know how the ump could eject him. i mean there’s two ways i’m seeing this. one the batter is upset with the ump “bad” calls. personally i think those are good pitches. so my other view is the batter is upset with himself. there’s been many times ive stuck out and was upset with myself so im leaning on that for why the batter is upset.
but im not going to put the blame on the ump. for all i know the hire ups that are controlling the MLB are trying to get rid of all human emotions and forcing the ump to be like this.
if it wasn’t the MLB then why hasn’t the ump been disciplined?
Umm that’s the largest strike zone I’ve ever seen...
Especially how he starts walking away like a coward as he's ejecting Rendon.
@@ariesradke6193 we didn't ask for your whole "expert analysis" because you've played whiffle ball a couple times.
Plot Twist: Rendon was mad at himself for not swinging and the ump didn't like that and threw him out to teach him an important lesson to stay positive about himself. What a good guy.
Maybe a movie should be directed about this...

Umps actively working towards their automated replacements
Can't wait. Game will be much better.
Wow really i never heard of this? I know that umps use their ears and look at the base to see which makes contact first but i guess automated umps will be 100% correct calls
Have a machine call balls and strikes. Please. We can just move on, and the game can be about the game. I know this ruffles the feathers of some of my older friends who like to keep things the same, but for the love of god, no one uses buggy whips anymore to help us get to work in the morning.
Precisely. A machine can call balls and strikes. Why are we still doing this? For the purity of the game? I guess it’s not as entertaining to argue balls and strikes with an algorithm
Baseball officials are the worst. Players can talk to NBA refs, NFL refs, even NHL refs. But MLB Umps have a serious God complex and like to throw their weight around. F 'em!
umps and power tripping, name a more iconic duo.
Cops and power-tripping.
Astros and Cheating
Jordan and Pippen
Gabe kapler and double takes
28steps and being wrong
The most pointless ejection I've ever seen.
Rejections are tossed around far too liberally, I feel like they should be reserved for particularly egregious circumstances not bullshit like this.
I hate it most for fans who pay money to show up at the ballgame just to watch one of their best players sent packing a third of the way into the game.
Some families can only afford to go once or maybe twice a year, perhaps less. A kid in the stands only got to watch their favorite player for three innings that day because an umpire's feelings got hurt. It's a shame.
Imagine what pro football would be like. Baseball umps are a bunch of pussies.
It should really be reserved for when guys are throwing at each other and fighting. Other than that, blue should take it

Rendon was cool with this, didn't wanna be in the cold anyway.
Cool but not cold

Yup
It’s alright they needed a permanent trash can basher anyways
Was at this game. Tons of people didn't even know what had happened until minutes later because they all immediately turned away after the pitch not thinking it would lead to an ejection, or it was a very not-animated ejection by the ump. I remember a few fans asking why Rendon wasn't at 3rd base the next inning.
Looked pretty cold out there. Was it?
Was it cold? Ol boy is wearing a a head cover so it looks cold
@@tmoneylolo2330 Yeah it was like 50 degrees and super windy.
jeso317 he’s also a Texan, so I’m sure he hates DC weather lol
hey sorry you didn’t get to see Rendon but at least you got to watch the umpire! The real reason anyone goes to the ballpark
When ur justification for throwing someone out is “what is that,” u know ur wrong
Rendon:
Umpire: That's it, you're outta here!
He doesn’t even look mad about the pitch he looks mad at himself for not swinging with 2 strikes
Last five seconds shows the pitch as extremely low
Yeah he just had a poor at bat. The calls were close, but at the end of the day those pitches were hittable and he was just kicking himself because he knew it.
If umps are gonna throw you out for this might as well chew their ass out results the same
Knave If people would take the bat and use it on the ump, they would stop their stupid power trip.
@Knave so you're saying he should "get his money's worth"? Original sentiment.
Yes but rendon isn’t that kinda player as shown as the bat flip in dc against Milwaukee in the rain but it was sunny and he hit a ball deep but threw his bat and it ended up being a homer but he thought it was a pop up and people perceived it as a bat flip
Exactly, might as well get your money's worth. That he didn't probably lend credence to the idea he was probably upset that he stuck out again and wasn't really pissed with the call. Who knows?
Might as well just jack his jaw one time. Missing a few games from a dude who bench presses 350+ shattering your jaw will teach you to make a better call.
Ump's ego are why I'm gonna laugh when technology phases them outta the game.
Been praying for this in football too. Doubt it will ever happen, because that would make too much sense.
You'd think the ump would be wearing long sleeves considering how thin his skin is, but I guess not.

Tossing the bat when you're the last out of the inning so you can go to your position is like... That's what we do. Your buddy brings you your glove and hat and you keep playing.
That was some of the funniest shit I've ever seen in a baseball game. The dude gets thrown out, and he ain't even mad- he's just like "wtf?"
I'm a Mets fan, saw this live. I was blown away when this happened. I actually cheered for Martinez. Softy ump. Rendon is a Mets killer, but at least he keeps his mouth shut (lookin at you Harper, you overrated Loreal commercial)

"This one's brought to you by Talking Baseball. It's a podcast, we talk about baseball"
Jomboy, the master of short, sweet and simple ads. And yes, we appreciate that
These umpires are so touchy. Even if they think you’re disgusted they trip, like a zero tolerance policy. This reminds me of the Justin Turner ejection where the umpire “thinks” you’re being disrespectful, that’s grounds for an ejection. What a joke talk about power trip
You can tell this ump thinks he’s so cool as he’s wearing sunglasses when it’s obviously cloudy outside and he’s wearing short sleeves although it’s obviously a fairly cold afternoon
Brought to you by talkin' baseball. It's a podcast, we talk about baseball.
Very succinct Jomboy. I love it. Made me laugh as much as the actual breakdown itself
It's a trap, there's no talk or baseball, it's just Jomboy staring into the camera for three hours.
Can you appeal a “throw out”? Maybe the next day appeal it, and have a fine or punishment to the ump?
Curveball was up. The two he got rung up on are borderline. Gotta swing at those pitches with two strikes. Ump is a weenie though, how you gonna toss the chillest dude in baseball for not saying a word?
Those two borderline pitches were both clearly strikes. The high curve was a horrible call though.
@@mattkeller5913 A borderline pitch cannot, by definition, be clearly a strike.....
@@contumelious-8440 bro I wasn't calling them borderline just referencing the ones others did. You think you are smart and go make yourself look dumb trying to flex. Stupid is as stupid does.
Throwing equipment is grounds for ejection, as is questioning balls and strikes (even nonverbally). That said, the umpire has to be less trigger-happy than this.

I was watching this game when it happened. Rendon was just frustrated and his response to being ejected is the most funny I've ever seen. He was as incredulous as we were watching the game.
The problem with these umpires is they assume everything is about them. Regardless of how many managers remind them that nobody buys tickets to watch the umpires they can't get this fact through their thick skulls.
Karens have been getting all the press lately, but umpires have always been at the top of that pyramid

With umpires controlling the out come of a game with calls like this hurts MLB.
I wish ejections would become reviewable and up to New York for justifiable. This is one where the ump should be tossed for his own ego over anything else. And the umps should be allowed to be disqualified from games as well so they are held responsible for their own actions. Nothing will improve unless you hold the actively accountable on the spot and in the future.

There are many sports where playing near the out-of-bound or on the edge of some zone is advantageous and depending on the sport, could nearly be considered the object of the game. Such sports would include tennis, volleyball and in baseball, pitching. We now have technology to end the problems that arise in these sports so we either use, and accept the technological changes or, continue to argue close calls.
There are two camps, the "traditionalist", and the "let's get it right" camps. Most major sports already have, or in are moving step by step into the latter of the two camps. Baseball has actually taken the first big steps with their reviewing procedures for close plays. I predict that umps calling balls and strikes will eventually follow.
It’s amazing how terrible some of these umpires are.

Well if I’m headn for the lockers, I’m gonna damn well earn it. Gonna cost me money anyway, I’m taking something of yours with me. The technology we have now and camera angles, clarity and such leads me to believe the position of umpire is not long from being a forgotten necessity.

I dont understand why they the baseball players union hasnt demanded these imcompotwnt umpires be fired. Or why they havent switched to an electronic method of calling balls and strikes
The umpires have a union as well. They would likely demand certain players and managers get banned in retaliation.
@@karlrovey they might, but who watches baseball for the umpires? The bad umpires, while providing great contend for Jomboy, make baseball frustrating to watch.

I dunno, Rendon's eye is freakishly good. I'd put him second overall behind Votto in terms of plate discipline. If he thinks it's a ball, there's a more-than-zero chance the umpire fucked up somewhere.

i always thought it was weird how managers go out and make a scene when one of their players is thrown out. it always feels so forced.
I hear ya. Even Jomboy calls it theatrics. It boils down to the manager sticking up for his player, and the players appreciate that. Some managers do it well... and some don't.
Its mainly about showing you'll stick up for your players when it comes to it and it also fires them up to see their manager out there arguing on their behalf I see nothing wrong with it.
I think he just wanted to get home early
The shittier of a day that umps have the better imo. I could watch umps get their shit pushed in for bad calls all day

It’s strange that baseball is the only sport that players are expecting by officials to not get frustrated. Disagreeing with a call shouldn’t be a problem in sports.
