After watching the official Zhiyun video guide, and a number of others on RUclips, this is the ONLY ONE which is explained clearly, concisely, and actually makes the process very easy. A massive thank you from me and a well deserved 👍🏻. I just wish I could give it more than just one 👍🏻.

Just got this gimbal. Never used one before, had No Clue how to set up or use one. This video got me going! Thank you! Now I need to setup smartphone as the camera, and control it from another smartphone and the gimbal... Searching for that next.
Just ordered my gimbal. On Saturday I am going on a trip and plan to film a lot with new Sony ZV1. Thank you so much for this video. Now i am not that stressed any more. Hopefully the videos turn out good. Will post them on my channel
Thank you very much, Chris. This is the only video, that enables me to use the crane m2. Thousand times better than the videos from the large channels. Greetings Claudia
I was trying to balance my crane M2 for hoursssss with other "tutorial" videos. I was able to balance my camera and learn extra info from your video smoothly. Thank you so much!!
This is a master class on how to do a perfect tutorial video! An unboxing that is actually useful ( without the silly B-roll montage) a perfect step by how tutorial shot from the most important POV , as first person! So important on knowing whats left or right! Lol. I could follow along and was able to balance my new #Sony ZV1 by the end of your video.. I watched other M2-CRANE gimbal videos where they shot themselves which is more confusing, when balancing gimbals. Your video here was golden - thank you ! #ZHIYUM needs to link to your very helpful video that is required for any new gimbal user. Your set up process was EXTRAS icing on the cake. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really want to thank you for making this awesome content to help someone like me who has problem to connect Wi-Fi and also balancing gimbal also your voice is very clear and the content is very helpful thank you so much
as a note always find the balance shifts for reassembly so am using a quick release clip in mount which stays on the gimbal so one simple slots the make shoe into it in when using. it also allows you to use the remote power slot, which Chris did not get to this time, which would otherwise by blocked by the camera. i think the extra weight is negligible.
Thank you so much for this video. I was legit on the verge of tears before I found you. Thank you so much for your clear and concise information and instruction. It was most informative and comprehensive. I actually mounted and balanced my camera. Danke Schön.
I find your video to be very helpfully. I made Vietnamese subtitle (my language) and added it to your video so that my friends (they also have the gimbal Zhiyun Crane M2) can watch your video more easily.
Thank you, definitely needed this tutorial! My gimbal now works with my olympus TG3 camera even though many of the app features don't work, I can still get a stable image thanks to your video. Cheers!
Thanks for that. I just managed to wirelessly connect the Panasonic LX15 to the Crane-M2 using your guide. Don't think I could have worked it out on my own. Also, once you've connected them once, the settings are retained in the gimbal so you don't need the smartphone+ZY Play App for subsequent connections. Only problem I had was that my smartphone's camera couldn't scan the QR code for some reason, had to type in the PW manually.
I have an odd issue with my crane M2 - after not using it for a few months, I had issues starting it up and the battery light stays on. Luck would have it there is no youtube on my issue and as it is out of warranty I contacted Zhiyun sales in Australia. They gave me a support email that actually went to a support centre in Hong Kong. I was told that there is no service centre in Australia and I would have to pay for sending it to them in HK as well as roughly $80 AUD to get them to look at it and warning that this Gimbal was no longer supported and if they could fix it it would also be the parts but I am looking at a big outlay initially just to have it looked at overseas and then no guarantee. So moral of the story is whatever you buy - check if they have a local service centre as I now feel my best option is to just forget about fixing this gimbal but I will not be buying another Zhiyun as I feel this is a poor setup and it is not as if Australia is a tiny island with a few thousand people - you would think that they could have made some arrangement with some service centres over here. Maybe its a different setup for Europe/UK/US but in Australia there out of warranty service is non existent and I won't be spending another dollar having now a piece of junk that I can't even get looked at locally.
Thanks for the video, but the ZY Play app is not finding my sony a6300 and thus cannot use the gimbal shoot and zoom buttons. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Hi I'm not at all technical but thinking of buying this for my mum and I to share ... we would be using either a SONY camera, an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy phone ... could you demonstrate how to set it up using an iPhone. Also does can you set the gimbal on eg a table and leave it to automatically pan round creating a video or photos?
This has been an really useful video to help me set everything up (or nearly). Thank you so much, by far the best one I have seen on the subject. I was wondering if you had maybe an idea as to why I can't zoom in or out or even use the record button. I am using a Sont a5000. It is connected through Wifi directly to the Gimbal and is recognized. Could that be that I need to check for app/firmware updates through Sony? Thanks!
The zoom and record button need the WiFi connection. I just checked the Crane-M2 compatibility list for Sony cameras but I can't find the Sony a5000 in that list: oss.zhiyun-tech.com/zyplay/instructions_edit/supportmodel/CRANE-M2%20Camera%20Compatibility%20List%20-%20EN.pdf
Hi, Please help. Single click on trigger button doesn't take me to F mode. I did single click from all other modes but it never took me to F mode. I cant go to F mode at all !!. As given in manual, Long press on trigger button activates F mode and it goes back to previous mode upon releasing the trigger. The firmware version is 2.02 upgraded on 27 June 2020, The Gimbal is purchased in January 2020.. Please help to solve the problem. How to go to F mode.
I am still on Version 2.01 and it works for me exactly as described in the manual: www.zhiyun-tech.com/cranem2/en - Download > Manuals > User Guide > Page 9, 7. Trigger: - Single press to enter Full Following Mode (F); Single press again to go back to the previous mode. - Long hold (more than 2 seconds) the trigger to enter Full Following mode; Release to go back to the previous mode. Perhaps it is a bug in the new 2.02 version? I just downloaded the ZIP file of the firmware and had a look at the release notes (changelog.txt in the ZIP file) and it seems that Version 2.02 just brings support for the new Sony ZV-1. I would suggest that you contact ZHIYUN and file a bug report with them.
No, that would not be possible, because then the camera lens would be pointing towards the motor which is angled at 45 degrees. The motor would be blocking the view of the camera. Pause the video at 4:55 and you see what I mean. I am refering to the motor with the red screw on top of it.
Thanks for this video. I don't think I could have gotten it set up without it. How much of this has to be done each time you you use the gimbal? I know it has to be balanced but that is fairly easy once you have done it since you have the markings to refer to. if I'm traveling and unpack the gimbal, what steps do you have to go through to get everything connected again? The same steps you had in the video?
You're welcome. As you already pointed out: when you have the markings the balancing is done very quickly. The only thing that you have to do again is to reestablish the WiFi-Connection between the camera and the gimbal if you want to use the buttons on the gimbal.
I just have a question. You have connected the gimbal and the camera via the XY Play app installed on a smart phone. It means that every time I want to shoot a video by pressing the red button on the gimbal, I have to launch the XY Play app before. Is it just or not?
No, you don't have to launch the ZY Play App. That's only necessary at the beginning to pair them. Now I can mount the camera to the gimbal and start recording directly. But you must remember to turn on "Ctrl w/ Smartphone" on your Sony RX100 VII so that the gimbal can connect to the camera. Hope that helps!
Unfortunately you can't press a button on the gimbal to take a photo. You would have to press the button directly on the camera. See also "Grip Control" for RX100M7 in the manual: zhiyun-website.oss-cn-shenzhen.aliyuncs.com/instruction/20210128/1611820021139-fbxBPpeJ.pdf
Yes, if you connect/pair the camera to the gimbal via the app (as shown in this video). Keep in mind: the display will get darker (dimming) when you pair it via wireless connection. Therefore I usually start recording directly on the camera (so I can better see the display). I hoped that I could use the buttons without dimming the screen by using the cable to connect the camera to the gimbal (see seperate video on the cable), but unfortunately it doesn't work via the cable. Hope that helps!
@@chris_urra That's good to know, I may instead just attach my sony grip to the bottom of the gimbal instead of the tripod legs it came with to start and stop video so I don't have this screen dimming problem hopefully. I was hoping the cable would allow camera control but I guess it does not, thanks for saving me the time trying.
You have to control the focus on the camera. You can not control the focus through the gimbal. And as you are usually moving the camera when it is on the gimbal autos focus is easier and will give you better results.
This a great video. Everything is so clear. I'm thinking of buying Crane M2 for my Sony RX100 M7, but i'm bothered with the fact that I won't be able to take photos with ZY Play App or even with the gimbal itself. Like how do I take photos with my Sony RX100 M7 while it's mounted on Crane M2? Thank you.
Thank you! Let me try to answer your question: If you connect the ZY Play App to your Gimbal (via Bluetooth) and then connect via WiFi to the Sony RX100 VII you are only able to start video recording (at least with the current version of the firmware and app). You can start the video recording by pressing the red button on the gimbal or by clicking the red button in the app. However I couldn't find a way to shoot a photo via the gimbal or via the app when I am connected via Bluetooth+WiFi. Even pressing the shutter button directly on the camera doesn't work when you have the connection established. You only can record videos. Hope this helps!
@@chris_urra With my Sony RX-100 VI (M6) is possible to take photos. Just set P, A, S or M mode on the camera, then press twice (rapidly) the REC button on the Crane M2.
Thank you for your feedback! But unfortunately this doesn't work on the VII (M7). I just gave it a try. Zhiyun also says this in their CRANE-M2 Camera Compatibility List: oss.zhiyun-tech.com/zyplay/instructions_edit/supportmodel/CRANE-M2%20Camera%20Compatibility%20List%20%E3%80%90EN%E3%80%91.pdf
Yes it will work, please watch my gimbal video where I show this: ruclips.net/video/biQoLxl16IE/видео.html . Of course it depends on the cable length and tension on the cable. It needs to be flexible enough to not interfere on the motors.
ZY Play app (necessary to connect camera to gimbal) will not run on Android 9. The IOS version runs on iPhone 10, but cannot detect or connect to gimbal using Bluetooth or WIFI. The ZY Play app doesn't have a selection for the Crane M2. This means that the features that convinced me to purchase the gimbal such as Start/Stop Recording, Zoom, etc. on the gimbal is useless. The gimbal works okay, but functions that SHOULD be available on the gimbal MUST be accomplished on the camera itself.
You can see how I did it in my gimbal video: ruclips.net/video/v8a09GacomA/видео.html However it's not perfectly balanced, but it works for normal moves. For vortex mode I have to disconnect the cable.
'm having real trouble getting my camera ( Sony ZV - 1 ) to recognise the gimbal . During wifi connection, my camera connection comes up on the ZY App on my phone to connect to the gimbal, but when I select to to QR scan to link up with the Gimbal,it comes up as a FAIL and when i try to connect with password,it says the same thing. Tried to do this a dozen times. what am i doing wrong please.???

the gimbal . During wifi connection, my camera connection comes up on
the ZY App on my phone to connect to the gimbal, but when I select to to
QR scan to link up with the Gimbal,it comes up as a FAIL and when i try
to connect with password,it says the same thing. Tried to do this a
dozen times. what am i doing wrong please.???
Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. I don't have the ZV - 1. Perhaps some else who reads this can help you or you contact the ZHIYUN Support.
Hi, how will you know if it is fully charged? Mine, keeps blinking and charging the last bar of the battery like forever.
Thank you.
Hi, mine fills the last bar and stops blinking. So I see a fully charged battery with 3 bars.
Do you need to charge it first? Cuz mine is not turn on
If it doesn't turn on it might be a good idea to charge it.
@@chris_urra Thank you, I think mine has a problem of charging so I returned it. I charged almost 24h but it still not full and I can't turn it on neither.
can i use crane m2 and camera without the app?
Yes
@@chris_urra is there a tutorial that shows me how to setup a connection canon m50 and crane m2 without using the app. I have been searching many videos on youtube but none of them show how to use it
Good video, but totally useless to me! The app won’t even show Crane-M2 so I can’t connect my iPhone! I really wish I hadn’t bought this heap of crap now!
