  • I got the chance to build a PC using the Ryzen 5 5600G and so I took the opportunity to test different emulators going from 4th to 7th generation consoles to see what settings were possible.

Will you be testing the emulation with Ryzen 7 8700G once it's available post Jan 31st, 2024? I am really stoked for this APU which has a perf level close to a GTX 1650.

Unless a miracle happens probably not lol but I'm sure ETAprime will be getting one and doing some emulation testing. I'm going to have to buy a new motherboard and the CPU if I want to test that puppy out. All depends on the prices though. More than likely I'll do 8600g but we will see.

@@entertainmenttechie7574 I see, thank you for the reply! Currently using a MSI RTX 3060 Ventus 3x paired with a 9 year old i7 4790k CPU. Bottleneck is there for sure but I can live with it as I game at 1440p.

@@BravoSixGoingDark Seems like all you really need is a new CPU. Probably be best to get something that uses an AM5 slot like a 7600X or 7700X. Looks like 8600X is coming in the fall of this year.

What programs did you use for running these emulations? Mostly i want to emulate gamecube, xbox and xbox 360, playstarion 3, and nintendo wii/ wii u and switch

Use Dolphin for emulating the GameCube and the Wii
Use Cemu for emulating the Wii U
Use Xemu for emulating the OG Xbox
Use Xenia/Xenia Canary for emulating the Xbox 360
Use RPCS3 for emulating the PS3
and finally, use either Yuzu Early Access or Ryujinx for Switch(Yuzu EA usually offers better performance, while Ryujinx tends to be more stable)
Keep in mind that it'll take a bit to configure and get the emulators up and running

Hey. Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m thinking of upgrading my gig, which has 2200g and gtx1060 6GB, to something more powerful to be able to play anything CG and up and in higher resolution. Currently, it even struggles to upscale PSX more than 4x. What are your thoughts on pairing 5600 with rtx6600? Doesn’t it make sense financially to go with a CPU+GPU combo for this or would it be more reasonable just to buy an APU instead? Which of this two options would provide a better performance?

It's reasonable to buy the 5600g if you're trying to save money and want to upgrade the GPU later but if your going with a CPU+GPU combo, its better to go with 5600x. I believe a gtx 1660 or equivalent should allow for higher resolutions like 1440p and 4K from PSX up.

@@entertainmenttechie7574 could I do PS3 emulation at 1080p like any game you think with just the 5600g?

Did you overclock the 5600G through the BIOS? Im building a budget emulation pc for my living room targeting 1440p or 4K mostly to play PS2 era games or older. Sadly the board I purchased doesnt support manual overclocking, but I have another board I can swap with it if necessary. Pairing it with the same RAM sticks you are using.
    Also thanks for the video.

No I decided not to this time around. I probably should have at least tried the gpu to see if I could get 1440p.
