I don't play heresy, unfortunately, due to not having a bottomless well of cash and time, HOWEVER, I absolutely love the batreps of it you do, Winters. They're always narrative as hell, fun and utterly brutal. Plus, Always great seeing James MarchofWar on the channel, as he really does just throw himself into his armies. Nothing is half-arsed here, everything full-arsed. Let's goooooOoooOoo!
What a game… love ones that go right down to the wire, especially after that brutal first turn. What a treat to get a HH batrep as the free Sunday video. Love it.
Hey Winters, great content as always! Some pointers: 1. The 2 autocannon dudes that died from the non-breaching hits from the Scorpius you could have re-rolled thanks to the Heavy sub-type allowing rerolls for template weapons. 2. Because you withdrew your volkite squad from the Gal Vorbak, declaring an overwatch with a heavy weapon would mean that your boys are snap-shotting, meaning hitting on 6's instead of regular BS.
😂 That sign off was hilarious! It was like Winters had held it together for the while game and then right at the end he just lost it!! Brilliant batrep as ever and such good chats
Nice armies but few things to note on WB side. Diabolist centurion spell just buffs himself not the whole unit. And Burning Lore Praetor automatically has the same Diabolism discipline he can’t choose one of the other generic ones like Biomancy
I'm going through the HH bit by bit via Audible- just finished Betrayer and am about to start Deliverance Lost (I'm listening to them in no particular order after the first five or so). So, this scratches a very current itch. Fantastic armies, great game!
41:11 Why does the guy keep saying I need to roll 2 ups to save them. Rolls two 1's and 2's then says 4 die.? Also don't think Glorious Martyrdom works on blasts and templates.
Heresy rules seem to be so much better than 10th or is it just me? Furthermore, I'm enjoying these heresy reps more than 10th though, I'd like to see some heresy Ultramarines do some work in some battle reports please
"A given Reaction may be used as many times as a player wishes, so long as that player has not exhausted their Reaction Allotment for the Phase - but no individual unit may make more than one Reaction in any one Phase."
Can you play Luna Wolves in Horus Heresy? Or does it have to be the strict army lists they have? For example, would I _have_ to run them as Sons of Horus? I only ask because I wanted to play a Luna Wolves 40K Space Marines list using the models I have left from the Imperium Magazine kits I have, lead by First Captain Ezekyle. There's a bit more freedom to do so, even if functionally they still have to fit much stricter profiles in 10th. I just wanted to see which game system suited them better, because I can always sell stuff on before trying 30K.
I've ran into that brick of Gal Vorbak + Argel Tal and oh my... They ripped a Shield Captain and Custodian Guard squad to shreds (a very thematic fight of course!), Custodes getting a taste of their own medicine. That 5+ 5+ is nasty.
Alright, I've got to ask. Why do people always say Heresy has so much more unique legions and customization and backstory. 40k has bunches of different races, and literal werewolf marines, zombie marines etc. etc. Heresy runs giant squads of the same troop type, and basically all the same marine armor types and same vehicles. No? edit: Indeed I painted Christmas Day xD
It's probably because for a period of only 7 years, it's got A LARGE chunk of lore. And it's probably because in terms of playable factions, Heresy has more (especially now that 10th edition space marines are all the same just with different detachments really). Another plausible reason is that, in Heresy the list are much more narrative friendly. Like you can make a full lore accurate Raven Guard list and not be stomped into the floor like in 40k, and the sheer amount of rules and weapon abilities there are. Been playing Heresy every week since the launch last year and even now I'll come across a rule I've barely encountered before.
So tell me about your army… Word bearers- player I do some leadership stuff. Raven guard player- I have ten army rules all of which individually are better than your leadership stuff. I think say hi Paul might have tricked you into playing the lads in red mate. P.S. fuck Erebus
But the Word Bearer Rite of War that allows for Sacrifices and boosts to be made, and the Dark Gods warlord trait, makes up for the rest of it. I mean my Word Bearer Tartaros Terminator Praetor can be an absolute boss by the charge phase of the third turn if all goes to plan due to the ROW and Warlord trait, something like +6 to strength, +3 to toughness, +3 to Movement and +3 to WS by turn three 😂

Heresy is cheaper than 40k these days.
Better and more fun ruleset also@@jameshutton3960
Yeah heresy is at least as cheap as 40k. You're not going to suddenly have your whole army invalidated every 3 months either.
@@jameshutton3960especially you don't need 3000 or 4000 points worth army. 1250 or 2000 Points is fun for beginners
well said
"We're not going to die in the bloody hills."
I can only hear that in Michael Caine's voice.
Great game, guys.
Smashing game! Whilst I don't play HH myself I have been enjoying watching these games. Brutal and super close!
What a game… love ones that go right down to the wire, especially after that brutal first turn. What a treat to get a HH batrep as the free Sunday video. Love it.
James is such a fun opponent. Great game.
cheers dude
I love the conversion you have done for those word bearers
cheers dude
i must remember that seekers hit on 2s
was such a fun game
I’ve been waiting for the Bearers of the Word! Thanks Winters.
Super battle! I painted on Christmas Day as well and I just came from Paul’s channel to see those hated traitors again lol. For Ultramar!
Keep up the great work Winters. Really appreciate the effort you go to with your battle reports ❤

This was another fantastic battle report! James, your armies are absolutely glorious!
One of my favorite channels for Horus Heresy battle reports. Please keep making them!
This is an epic set of lists. Great content!
cheers dude
I love that Word Bearers army, it looks amazing and feels like it fits the narrative. The Raven Gaurd look great as well.
I thoroughly love watching your HH battle reports Winters! Thanks so much for the great work mate!!!! xoxoxo
Two amazing armies, and two of my favorite gamers!
😂 That sign off was hilarious! It was like Winters had held it together for the while game and then right at the end he just lost it!! Brilliant batrep as ever and such good chats
Awesome as always! Beautiful armies
cheers dude
I am very exited for this one.
Love seeing the Word Bearers!
This was a fun BatRep, and I can now follow it as I started playing Heresy. :)
Brilliant and thank you.

yeah id messed that up, but got it now thanks
To add to that, tragically Glorious Martyrdom can’t be used to block blasts. Love seeing Word Bearers in batreps!
cheers@@wlfhi
Thanks for confirming the Word Bearers/Tau connection we all suspected!

Poor Kratos. I really wish it wasn't so common for vehicles to explode in 2.0.
Pretty accurate depiction of istavaan. More word bearers please.

I thought the diabolist power on the charge only affected the caster and not the unit they are attached to. Have I been playing this wrong?
Looks like James has a lot of custom sculpts and bits for his WB, any idea where he gets them from?
They’re printed, it’s wild I’m so deep into this resin printing hobby that I recognize most of the stls, lol
@@thumpfump2268 any idea what STLs he's using?
@@giggatey0904 I do, but the fact they’re all taken down means I can’t just say the names, lol
Great game lads!
I saw Argel Tal and the pack play on St Patricks day in Enniskillen one year.
Those snipers are so ridiculous it's awesome lmao
found some of it hard to keep up with and some bits confusing, too many rules.. but brilliant and thanks as ever for the battle reports.
These armies were both so beautiful!
Horus Heresy got me back to 40K and Winters.
Where do I find the veteran upgrade bits? Really want to kitbash an apothecary for cheap.
March of war has them on his website, he also does techmarine bits etc
@@awefullgamertj6445 what's the name of the kit? I can't seem to find it sorry
@@tommoolenaar3901veteran accessories 👍

I do wish tanks were more durable. Javelins can shrug off stuff that can one shot huge tanks
Word Bearers made the Tau? I didn't think it was possible to hate them more than I already did.
Love the larger size games fir HH. Means more fancy toys
What I know is that even with two reactions in a Phase you are only allowed to use the same reaction once per round
"A given Reaction may be used as many times as a player wishes, so long as that player has not exhausted their Reaction Allotment for the Phase - but no individual unit may make more than one Reaction in any one Phase."
Ashen Circle has Torrent 6 so effectively 13 Inch flamers. that cause pinning.
I didn't see the link where to buy the veteran bits, can u link it?
wonderful
1:12:50 He would've been hitting on 2's wouldn't he?
White scars get to roll 2 dice for both going first and seizing the initiative. "White scars go first" is very true

You can play Loyalist Sons of Horus, but Abaddon is a Traitor-only character.
Like and comment to support the best wh40k channel as usual!
Listening to the legion special rules just really drives in how much the writers lavished on the loyalists and just didn't care about the traitors.
Lovely Word Bearers army 👍
