I wish my combi melta's had armour bane out to 12 inches. Might have been a bit different turn 1 if they only had it to 6 inches.

Yea I should have caught that and moved the HH up to ensure they had the range. I forgot the 1/2 range on the combi-meltas.

@@jasonholland1892 still could’ve easily nuked everything… Infiltrate within 12”… Scout move to 9”… regular move 7”… you’re now within 2” of your target… even nastier when you mount said HH squad in a rhino…which then gains Infiltrate and Scout… HYDRA DOMINATUS!

Hello guys. Correct me if I'm wrong but combi-melta armourbane range is 6 inches. And there were couple of those shooting in 1st game round into land raiders which were outside this range and were rolled 2d6 for pens. Also same case with destroing rhino.
Yeah, that should not have happened. Armorbane rolls for ranged weapons only kick in when at half of the weapon's maximum range.
Yeah, the combi meltas shouldnt have got those pens turn 1.
There were other mistakes such as Reaping doesnt allow you to move react other than the 7" move in the DG special reaction, the Precision shots on the Masster of Signals had another failure and the breaching that should've gone into the rest of the squad, unless they said off camera about the hills but they didnt take any cover saves for anyone, Mortarion is a primarch and Fearless so couldnt be pinned at all (and so auto passes the Brace reaction to disorder).
Lots of things wrong that soured this for me, for such a beautiful looking game.
You are correct. I should have moved the HH up to 6 inches for the first Shooting. With Infiltrate, Scout and Relentless they can get to the 6" limit, but I did forget about the half range armor bane for the combi-melta on this one.

@@RalosBlitz mistakes happen in games all the time, and the added pressure of playing for the camera makes it much worse. Cut the guys some slack

Another really strong AL list against a narrative list! Gorgeous armies, but some more restraint in list building/vetting might be good!
I normally love your battle reports but had to stop watching this one after seeing two land raiders go up in smoke on turn 1 due to incorrect armour bane rolls. Such a basic rule to get wrong. Won’t stop me watching future reports though
There were a few more mistakes, and all of them against Death Guard. It may be that DC would lose all the same in the end, but there were too many for the game to be balanced or fair, since all happened in the same direction. Should have been a much closer game.

37:07 pinning test is only at -1 if the unit consists solely of Dawnbreakers. Pretty sure you don’t get it if you have independent characters attached.
You're right, it says "entirely composed." Shouldn't have been able to pin Mortation anyway as he's fearless.

That Alpha Legion army is absolutely outstanding. It looks like a real labour of love. So clean and the colours really pop. Just Bravo! Would love to see more of his work, vehicles/dreads maybe. So so so good, I watched the army review at the start 3 times....ah the armourbane though. That's a real shame to get it wrong :(

You're absolutely right on the armorbane, should have moved the HH up a few inches on the right before shooting.
Also, Primarchs are independent characters, it is in the Primarch unit type in main rule book.

How were the Alpha Legion able to infiltrate so close to the Master of Signals? He has an augury scanner - they cannot infiltrate within 18" of him ...

Deploy at 18". Scout up 6". Then move up. We should have discussed/covered it better. But same end state.
Also, Exodus doesn't infiltrate, so the augury scanner doesn't effect himm.

sadly this game was just to 1 sided. all rules mistakes asside. boards like this dont work. you need buildings to hide behind. just 1 massive gun line with insta killing weapons makes for a very boring and 1 sided match.
We like are narrative battles where it’s not always ruins. You need to remember that this alpha legion army gets anywhere it wants with this list. Sorry to hear it was boring for you. Hope the next one you enjoy a bit more.
They really need to change the vehicle damage table; explosion is way too easy.

Sorry man, I should have moved them up a few inches before shooting. With Infiltrate, scout, and then movement, wouldn't have been an issue to get to 5 inches.

DC you missed one brutal 2 save it was two not one and you also missed the get's Hot rolls for the heavy alchem flamers.
The better option with the Tactical would have being to shoot the bolters with fury of the legion.

Love the Alpha legion. Got to say though the apothecary and headhunter squad wouldn't have been able to infiltrate unless Alpharius gave them the ability. The headhunters would not be able to infiltrate due to the apothecary not having the ability.
Apothecaries get all the rules from their squad, so they can infiltrate as well.

Can't you do precision strikes one by one? Meaning you don't waste shots ie wounds.
I've seen this played several different ways to be honest. I do it this way to avoid the thematic idea that bullets are changing target in flight.
You hit then after hitting you need to decide where the hits go before wounding

Beautifully painted Alpha Legion army, but I hate games like this.
I had a few battles both where I massacred my opponent in the first round (and where i was also massacred like with new demons). We always sat down together to talk after the game and we decided that this wasn't how it should be. It leaves a terrible feeling after such narrative game as Heresy.
it's sad when most of the army (which isn't cheap and painting takes a lot of time) doesn't even have the opportunity to do anything.

You should try to keep these games more balanced, it’s not such fun to watch when it’s so one sided. HH is more of a historical game, it isn’t competitive. The lists should t be so tightly honed.
@@markgueran8818 well that list just won one game in the event he just played so wouldn’t say it was that strong at all. Just a good counter and after getting first turn and no night fighting with great dice it all changed a lot
