Hello, great game with 2 amazing looking armies. 1 question at 1.25.22 the phospex launcher wounded on 2's but the weapon is strength 5 with Poison 3+. What rule had this wounding on 2's?
Really fun batrep to watch, and awesome armies. I especially love the Raven Guard, they have been painted with so much attention to detail - really, really good. Also loved the outcome. (spoilers for anyone not finished watching). I thought if that pinning check had not gone wrong on the Furies in turn 1 (and I knew it would as soon as he proudly proclaimed they were stubborn on Ld10 due to the chaplain, I just knew he could not make it now :D ), he could have charged those Phalanx Warders a turn earlier and he might have been able to finish them off before Sigismund joined there, and he could have then managed to eke out a win. So don't ever go "Oh, they are stubborn on Ld10, hur hur!" :D Just a few rules mistakes to point out ( looks like a lot, but it just happens, I just write this down mostly to learn it for myself, and maybe you'll pick up one or two as well: - Castellan gets +1 shots on HEAVY weapons, the Illiastus assault cannon is now an assault weapon, so he did not get that. - Also, the assault cannons get Gets Hot when fired in a reaction, that would have been quite a few armour saves after shooting the Leviathan, which might have resulted in that Leviathan actually surviving later. - Sigismund is Fearless, and units with any fearless models in them cannot use reactions that grant damage mitigation rolls - like Evade. - The Phosphex discharger is however only poisoned (3+), not Fleshbane, which may have balanced those statistics out. - You also forgot to leave the template as dangerous terrain, which might have slowed the Templars down slightly. - In the multiple combat with the Dark Furies you would have had to allocate each of the Furies' attacks to either the Phalanx Warders or the Templars (depending who they were engaged with), and the Fists player could only then have chosen the allocation within that unit each time, not between any of his models. - Also, the Phalanx Warders' invulnerable saves would have gone to 5+ when there were only two left, or likely a lot earlier when they were not in base contact anymore - the +1 only applies for each model that is in b2b with at least TWO other models with boarding shields, and that condition wasn't met anymore quite early on in that combat, and even earlier for some of the models on the sides of the unit. - The successful invulnerable saves vs. Sigismund by the RG praetor would have had to be rerolled, resulting in more combat res - not that it mattered. - Then in the last combat, you counted Sigismund's warlord trait and the vexillum, but they explicitly do not stack, so the target number for the assault marine would still have been 6, not 5. Did not matter either, anyway. - The assault marine then rerolls for preferred enemy (independent character), but he is attacking the Phalanx Warders, and they don't include an IC.

With primachs they have to be allocated after the hit rolls but the normal prec strikes follow the same as normal wounds just a different person allocating!

So in our group (I’ve just asked to make sure) -faq says can’t have a reaction that grants cover, armour or invun but evade is a damage mit save and only the fearless model can’t use shrouded Up for a good reason of us being wrong though cos it feels a bit ridiculous to me, and I thought it was maybe better for the game…

Cheers mate! The recons had infiltrated rather than getting out of a rhino (is it the first turn you mean) a warder squad disembarked and moved next to them if i recall correctly)
Loved the game but the imperial fist player I think maybe got some rules wrong. Imperial fist iliastic Assault cannons have the malfunction rule so when he intercepted or retuned fire on the leviathan the assault cannons should have gotten gets hot. For shield wall to work with the phalanx Wardens you need at least 3 models with a boarding shield. Also When the last two phalanx wardens charged they shouldn’t have not gotten the reroll invulnerable save. Under the stone Gauntlet RoW you cannot charge and still have the reroll.

Great looking armies and board. Dear God they need to fix Imperial Fist though. They are not fun to play or play vs. No idea why they thought a 4++ then a 4++ then a 5+++ would be a fun idea. Not to mention the shooting shenanigans with assault cannons hitting on 2s 😅
The heavy support squad should have the night fighting debuff for the leviathan intercept (I saw several 3s on the roll) Sigis can't shroud as they are fearless 🙂 This if army is so so nasty! Great armies though 👌 Thanks for he batrep

The faq had (sadly) made it only models with the fearless rule who can’t gain shrouded, so despite getting the benefits of the fearless from sigi the rest of the squad can evade… lame… Ye I agree the whole makeup of that fists army is brutal, even down to the rhinos negating warders’ downside of being slow, so they’re anywhere they want to be with their 4++ rerolling And sigi, the lascannons, everything!

Well I have to say it's interesting that most IF list are the same. Boring after the first twelve games. Both armies look great but biased for RG, obviously.
@@newtpondskipper I agree with Connor on the above in relation to it really: being really good as a faction is good power wise but can result in negative experience for the player (not wanting to feel like they’ve purposefully made bad choices to make bad choices) What’s the reason in your area?!

I got confused during the heat of battle. I thought that it was fleshbane 2+ at the time.
As Steve says, mistakes in hot blood (I think it’s come from them being on 2+ in first Ed as I recall?!)

I got it at Warhammer world, but it was a fair few years ago now. They no longer make them.
When you use precision strikes, don't they have to be allocated first? So potentially if you over allocate you will lose some?

Keep in mind sigusmads squad can't evade because hes fearless. Any unit that has fearless can't take the evade reaction as per the faq

Imperial fists get a +1 for rolls to hit on the assault cannon so it goes up to 4's back down to 3's on the plus 1 as they are seen as a auto weapon
Castellan gets plus one shot with heavy weapons. Assault cannon is Assault.

I think all armies end up with a baseline to them, fists is probably just more pre-set than others.
