I'm just back from an event last weekend (Cardiff, Isstvan 5) and pinning was a nightmare. I'm definitely finding a way to include some Nemesis Bolters in my Iron Hands; I'd love to make some mk2-armoured Recon Marines, but I'm leaning more towards a 5-man unit of Seekers armed with them. For 155pts [as opposed to 125pts for the Recons], you lose Line & Scout, but gain BS5 and can pick a unit to re-roll 1's To Wound against. Target priority for me would be: Augury Scanner > Vexilla > Apothecary > Sergeant, I reckon.
Sounds like a fun event. Very keen to try out the dual Gravis Bolt Contemptor for hunting line units. I could see it pairing well with my Quad Launcher Rapiers for taking out those pesky 10 man tacticals. I did have the dual autocannon ready, but with that few shots, their potential damage were way too low. The Twin Stormcannon Leviathan will already fill out that spot and do well.
Hey, love your show and also thanks for turning off that bell sound that accompanied the "Subscribe" animation thing. Question-- considering the big difference in the number of models that you each took to the event, I'm curious if you have any views on how that might have affected your experience of playing in a tournament (game after game) environment? Pete, did having fewer units to make decisions with grant you a little more time each turn to consider, and Jason having so many options at your disposal allow a little more freedom to make bold moves? I've taken both big and smaller forces to tournaments before and noticed that it does affect my experience significantly. Curios to hear your thoughts, maybe in a different broadcast. And with that, I'm signing up for your Patreon. Thanks!
Hey Peter, thanks for the questions. So in my experience it’s the first time I’ve used a small elite force, I’m usually a ‘boots on the ground’ kind of player. So yes, I do agree with you it felt more like a game of chess for me than anything else, with a few pieces to move around (if that makes sense ). Scoring was my biggest issue by FAR. Thanks for signing up to the Patreon! ❤ catch you there 🤘
I think that my list is a bit more forgiving since there are so many more modles but petes guys are far more tough. I think just being able to cover more area is the big bonus to my list and how fast it moves.
3 Spartans! Hahaha. What a nightmare. A Land Raider for Ultramarines is even better. Give it a search light and use it as the cntre piece of your army. Keep units either side, and one behind it in a 6" bubble. Use it to light up targets and give your other units within 6" +1 to hit as well. Multi-melta on top is almost a must take for me as well.
What do you guys think of our army composition?
Teeeeerible! EC list
I am just learning horus heresy and night lords... have a copy of your list?
@@jamesr8666 Hey hey so for sure, it was a 3250 point event so a little strange points wise but this is what I took. For 3k I would just take out the Contekar Termies and this would clock right in at 3k. Its pretty much a fire base that holds out untill the deep strike assualt arrives. So far its been about a 50-50 win rate and its a blast to play.

Great job y’all. Love these types of reports. Keeps me frosty.

So fun listening, where was the tournament being held. We started running heresy tournaments in Kent. Love Heresy
Question, how are you getting the Night Lord bonus vs tanks, they count as 10 models? 10 Lascannon dudes + Techmarine?
Yep thats it, just as long as there are 11 of you, you can outnumber

I'm surprised Scorpius wasn't prevalent to cheaply counter the 10man lascannons
Not seen a ton of them at the last few events here. Not sure why to be honest.
Did I hear right, you were getting rends on 5+? I didn't think +1 to wound affected Rending/Breaching
Just not breaching…. The storm cannon rends on 5+!
28:04 hahaha guilty!
Bournmooth 3 or however you spell it. 😜
