Excellent video! You are very clear and concise, provide extremely useful information and back it up with example. I’m a newbie and am heading down to space coast area and will try my hand at ocean fishing for the first time.
Best surf fishing video I've seen. Great tips. I've been fishing near St. Augustine this winter and when I downsized my hooks and started tipping with Fishbites I really noticed a difference in my catch rate on Whiting. Thanks.
Awesome. I’ve been in Florida since 1989 and retired since 2020, and never surf fished. Pier and blue water but never from the beach. Thank you for the great information.
Headed to Flagler Beach in January. Looking forward to some good surf fishing. Really enjoyed your video and the tips and tricks that you mentioned. Your video is way over the legal limit so obviously it's a keeper!
Packed full of everything a beginner needs.. except.. remind beginners.. set that drag light so fish can pull line before your rig disappears into the deep blue.. the sputnik sinker will provide enough resistance to set your circle hook, thanks for. Great vid.. makes a good refresher vid if you are a seasonal neach bum too!
Thanks. I like the fact that you are aware there are novices viewing and you cover the important basics including have the most expensive, name brand tackle is not required.

We love this video. My 11 yr. old grandson loves fishing but we know "nothing." Thanks to your video we know what to buy, and how-to surf fish. We rented a house on the beach in Indialantic, Fl at the end of June. Everyone is so excited.
Going to PCB in a month and this will be my first solo salt water fishing attempt. I have been back and forth on fishing the pier (with the crowds), the jetties (with the dangerous rocks) or surf fishing. To be honest, I didn’t have much confidence in the surf fishing…until now! Great info for beginners!! Definitely gonna try it now! Any details on the PCB area specifically, please hit me up! You just got a new subscriber…and Thank You for your service!
Great video! I’m about to head to Florida on vacation and this will help me a lot in getting started with surf fishing! One thing I noticed, I think that knot you used to tie on the coast lock is actually a uni knot and not an improved clinch. Regardless thanks for the all the info, I learned a lot!
Top two comments are right. Most informative video by far. My dad took me surf fishing as a kid but we didn't really catch anything. Going on a trip now by myself and figured I'd learn. For surf fishing it only says resident license on go outdoors Florida and it's free..... It doesn't say anything about non residents surf fishing. Not sure if you know about that
Not sure? I’m in the military and Florida offers an all license pass for us for cheap. So I don’t really know the rules for anyone else. I’m also a FL resident. Wish I could help. You can always call FWC also they are very helpful.
Thanks brother! I’m active duty military stationed in Florida, never done surf fishing and was looking to get into it while I’m here. this was extremely helpful keep up the content!
This is a AWESOME video! We have been watching pretty much all of your videos and following your advice. We’ve had several really great fishing days this past week after following your tips. We met Chip on the beach which was really cool also. He spent some time with us and gave us some great tips. Thank you for making these, and for sharing your knowledge with all of us!
@@SlotCityFishing can I ask you a quick question about leaders? I made a bunch of double dropper, rigs based on one of your videos, but the 30 pound monofilament feels very thick. I was using 25 pound fluorocarbon before for Carolina rigs and that type of thing. Do you think 25 would be OK or should I stay with the 30? Also, have you tried the blue crab fish bites?
Yea you can scale down to whatever you are comfortable casting with the 30 keeps you safe if you hook something big. If you are targeting pompano specifically I would scale down to 20 floro. And yea I’m on the Fishbites team there’s a video on the channel where I catch two 30+lbs black drum on the blue crab Fishbites. They rock.
This video has helped me out a ton. I just moved to the Jacksonville area over the winter so I'm brand new to surf fishing. I've nailed pomp, whiting, lady fish, blue fish, little drums and I even landed a bonnet head on these rigs. Lol. Thank you so much man. Definitely gained a new subscriber.

Wow! Great video! I am stupid as you can get about surf fishing and this by far is the best video I’ve seen for beginners. From what to buy, how to rig your line, bait, how to read the beach and where to cast. I really appreciated the diagrams and explanation of sand bars, troughs, and riptides. Thanks so much!
