I've found that the best way to run off people who decide to swim right next to my lines is to tell them about the "5 ft shark you caught right before they came over"
Bait guy was not grumpy. Probably from NY. That's how we talk up here. Fuggedaboudit. 😎 Nice father/ daughter quality time. Like to see more surf fishing videos tailored to the NE.
I have those crazy expensive stuff well because I love surf fishing and enjoy watching surf fishing videos. Here is a funny time I can recall. I was at the Jax Pier with my $500 set up and a girl next to me was catching whiting with a coke can!
Another great video brother! Did I hear you say post deployment trip? I am a retired Navy Chief. Thanks again for putting out very informative videos, tight lines!
Sometimes the people working in bait and tackle shops are rude and it can be intimidating for people new to fishing… I’m new to saltwater fishing so I never know that bait is in season or not or that is available
Your channel is very informative and great content I learn a lot from you I haven’t been able to do any fishing yet… but when I soon get me a rig and bait I will reference your channel And most importantly Thank You for your service Sr.😁
Haha, was that tackle shop guy in Jax? If he was I bought bait from him and he was a jerk to me too. Thanks for your service! Keep the videos coming!!!
So, I live in Jacksonville and this weekend I was surf fishing at Mayport (My dad's Army) and like 90% of my catches were the fish that's got a spot close to the head and brownish diagonal lines on it. Do you know what that is, especially also fishing Jacksonville? I've tried looking at a ton of places and haven't seen anything that looks like that. My first catch was a little red, with the spot on the tail, but every other one has the spot by the head
Hey, looking for good surf reels that can take getting pounded by waves as I wade out in the NC surf and cast. BG's have locked up, so looking at sealed. The BG's will only be used from a sand spike going forward. Have a spinfisher V 4500 and clash 4000.....looking now to get a 5500 size. Saw your vid on spinfisher V vs VI and the spinfisher internals was impressive!! Do you have any experience with the Clash in the surf in regards to getting wet/dunked?? I like the Clash's lighter weight, but I want something that can take getting a wave crashing over my head......
God bless my brother I’m in Miami and I’m going to to heading Georgia soon where were you in this video surf fishing because you can’t really surf fish in Miami where would recommend to surf fish on the east coast of flordia and the west coast of flordia where you are allowed to surf fish thank you my brother
Thanks for the suggestion to watch your video. I never go ti that tackel shop there rude to everyone unless your part if the good old boy click i have no clue how the remain open for there rudeness
I didn’t realize until I read the lady’s comment below mine that there are others that are in a similar boat?! … some enterprising skilled surf fisher could offer small group lessons possibly?!
I know there are those interested in learning to fish the surf, of course. I have all the gear.Have tried twice. The outcomes of them would probably make you laugh. Imo .. you guys at SCF are really good hearted folks. You could be making a killing if you sold your knowledge. I am grateful you don’t.

Were you running the braid into a swivel then into the high low rig? Are those size 2 circle hooks?
Correct. Main line braid to swivel to rig. I use eagle claw razor sharp 2/0 circle sea hooks. That may change soon tho.

They nerve of you to suggest that they might have "Fresh Dead". My wife warns me I'm turning into that old man....I guess I better watch it.

In town for a few days. Looking to take my son fishing. Are there any Guides that could take us surf fishing for a few hours ?
There are a ton of surf fishing guides I would just google it for your area.

Yea for sure
What type of footwear do you use while surf fishing. Or do you go barefoot?
Usually barefoot. If not something I don’t mind getting wet like crocs.
He wasnt rude at all
Yea
Really. That's baseline for a city guy lol
The bait guy wasn't rude, at least not what you showed on video
Just an old crusty dude
I don’t think the guy has been asked for “fresh” dead shrimp.
Maybe not
